Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments This is my review for An Uncommon Woman by Nicole Alexander by Nicole Alexander

I had a lot of problems with this book, I gave it only 2 stars. But to me, that does not mean a dnf or a terrible book that I regret reading, that would be one star. It just was not what I expected and I did not care for a lot of it, as I have whinged about in great detail, in the review.

I thought I'd have a break from novels about WW2 for a while but this one is special.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Set in my birth country, House on Endless Waters by Israeli author, Emuna Elon is a moving, illuminating and thought-provoking read. But for the absence of quote marks for speech, it would be a 5★ read.
Thanks to BRPreview and Allen & Unwin

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I do believe that each successive book in the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz outdoes the last one. Certainly Hellbent is the best I've read so far. I laughed rather more than I expected to. Luckily I have two more books to read.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I'm very pleased that Wollongong City Libraries had the Brilliance audio version of this Orphan X short story, The Intern by Gregg Hurwitz. It was the perfect length to last my journey to and from the grocery store, an excellent little dose of Evan Smoak.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments Address Unknown by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor is a terrific story, first published in the US in 1938, as Hitler was promising to restore German prosperity. It had an amazing impact then, and it's no less amazing now. READ IT!
