Another colourful book for kids that adults will enjoy is Portrait of an Artist: Vincent van Gogh: Discover the Artist Behind the Masterpieces. I shared several of the illustrations to show how good it is.

One of my favourite authors is Aussie Sulari Gentill who writes the delightful Rowland Sinclair historical mystery series. I loved Paving the New Road. He and his friends are in Munich in 1933, watching the frightening rise of Hitler and Fascism.

Given recent events in Queensland, Leah Swann's adult debut novel, Sheerwater is a highly topical read, and she is so skilled at ramping up the anxiety over the boys' safety that for some parts I had to do the reading equivalent of hands in front of the eyes during the scary bit of the movie: I had to shut the book for a while and do something else.5★s

This was quite a well written debut novel more in the romance genre than I would normally read. It leaves some unresolved plot lines at the end so readers may prefer to wait for the sequel to be published before reading it.

I have just finished a well written, well researched book that I sadly did not much enjoy. Mostly because it really should have been advertised as a short story collection rather than historical fiction.

Oh boy, that was weird! The Ice Maid's Tail by British author Mandy Morton is #8 in the series and truly does not entice me to read any other books in the series. You can thank me for reading this so you won’t have to waste your time. A cosy mystery set in an English village populated by very uncatlike cats. Just bizarre!Thanks to NetGalley and Duckworth Books
