I'm rereading Like Water for Chocolate. I read it for the first time more than 20 years ago, but I got books #2 ans #3 so I decided to reread it first.

Thank you! I'm enjoying it so far~
I finished rereading Like Water for Chocolate and like the first time I read it I loved everything but the love story.I will start today No Friend but the Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison.
I finished The Mercies and loved it. It went straight onto my favourites shelf.now listening The Last Hours
I am reading too many books right now... Great and Precious Things, The Book of Lost Friends, Little Secrets, Eat Move Sleep: How Small Choices Lead to Big Changes, and The Terrible Two Go Wild with my grandson. They are all very different, so it is easy to keep them straight and I'm enjoying them all. Technically, I'm also reading Sparrow, but I haven't picked it up in a few days because my time is occupied by the others. I hope to get back to it soon though.
I finished Abandon. I should have heeded the title. Unrelenting violence. I need a bit of guilty pleasure, so will start Lover Enshrined tomorrow.

Can't say you weren't warned hehehe

Renee wrote: "I am about to reread one of my favorite child hood stories. Alice in WWonderland"Aw, one of my favourites too. I enjoy it so much more from aduld POV.
@Sarah: I can relate to your thoughts about 'Strange the dreamer'. I've read her other trilogy and that was really good, but with this one I've struggled and didn't finish.
I'm finishing When She Was BadA collegue of mine tipped me about it and I must say, it's really good! Light, but still a psychological thriller with interesting and well thought characters and unexpected twists. Also a little view on child psychiatry in the past and present.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts on No Friend but the Mountains.
I'm reading the new book by N.K. Jemisin The City We Became. It isn't anything like The Broken Earth Series, so I think you need to know that going in, if you decide to read it. I am really enjoying it so far. it takes place in New York City today, so lots of current issues and swearing, so if you don't like that...
Renee wrote: "I am about to reread one of my favorite child hood stories. Alice in WWonderland"I love Alice! I was planning to read it aloud to my younger kids this quarantine, but I still didn't. Have to fix that soon.
Peggy wrote: "I'm looking forward to your thoughts on No Friend but the Mountains."So far so good. I've read around 30 pages and already can see that his style is touching and emotional, and I'm not even close to the hardest part.
Margo wrote: "I finished The Mercies and loved it. It went straight onto my favourites shelf.now listening The Last Hours"
I have The Mercies on hold at my library waiting for me. I'm glad you liked it!
Margo wrote: "Wow Kristie that's quite a lot of juggling 😁"Yes, I seem to keep starting too many books lately, but this grouping isn't too bad. The Terrible Two and Eat, Move, Sleep I'm only reading a couple chapters a night, so they will take a while, but they aren't really interfering with my regular reading.
I've been reading
Night Train to Lisbon by Pascal Mercier and I just started listening to
The Giver of Stars by Jojo MoyesNot sure if I'll continue Giver of Stars as it is scarily similar to The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, hopefully not on purpose.

I have it on hold. Glad to know you like it so far.
I finished Staked which was a lot of fun. I was a bit hazy on some of the references to previous books as it's been so long, but really enjoyed it anyway.I'm going to continue with Scourged right away, as I could do with another dose of Atticus and the rest of them, and it will *finally* finish off a series.

Sounds good!

@ Esther & Sarah - I finished The City We Became and well I'm going to include my thoughts of the book here for what it's worth. I liked it, but... https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, written by Carson McCullers when she was only 23, has become a classic of the American South - 1930s Georgia. Great characters!

I'm sure a lot of readers are familiar with Montessori schools, but I bet they don't know Maria Montessori was the first woman in Italy to go to medical school. Maria Montessori by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara is designed for little kids, but I learned a lot, too.

Reading Beyond the Sky and the Earth: A Journey Into Bhutan - the oldest book on my TBR shelf - yay - and Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir.
I’m reading along while listening to John Lee narrate Far From the Madding Crowd. I’ve tried reading the book several times before and always quit. I’ve finally gotten past the points in the story where I have quit before and I am enjoying the story much better this time around.
I was supposed to join a buddy read for Far from the Madding crowd. But the pandemic interfered. I will read it on y own when i can get the book

Great review Jayme. I'm definitely curious now.
I finished Lover Enshrined last night. I have a bunch more of that series coming up because I used a number of credits a couple years back to buy them. It's fun to be back in Caldwell with the Brotherhood. LOL!I will start What the Wind Knows today. It's a twisted trivia read.
I started Eon what feels like weeks ago. It's really dry and no matter how wide awake I am, I fall asleep within pages. I'm at 25% and wonder if I should preserve, or cut my losses. The problem is, I need a book with an asteroid on the cover, and I suspect I won't have any better luck with another book. (Note to self - no more tasks requiring asteroids on the cover.)
Peace Like a River by Leif Enger appealed to me on every level. I've got a soft spot for a child's point of view, and when there's humour and terror and adventure and tragedy and romance all mixed with a hint of magic, what more could I want?

Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit I really enjoy this series. I am sure I have already figured out the mystery. I love it when i guess right.
I finished What the Wind Knows last night. I love the premises of Amy Harmon's books but something is lackluster in the execution. This is the second of her books that I've read that I have felt disappointed. I have a third book owned and am hoping threes the charm. When I sat down to listen to the audiobook last night, there were about 3 hours left in the book and I was dreading it. My attitude was "just get it over with". To my surprise, it was the best part of the book. I wish the entire book had been as good.I will start Murder on Black Swan Lane today, squeeze in it before the June reads start.
I've also just finished a lacklustrer book Janice. The Animals at Lockwood Manor did not do all that I'd hoped. Despite the wonderful gothic nature of the setting the atmosphere just felt flat.Moving on to Two Girls Down.
I finished No Friend but the Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison and rated it 4 stars. It is a great read. The only reason it was not a 5 stars is because I struggled with the poetry. I am not a poetry reader and at some point it became too much for me, but at the same time I understand why the it is important for the message of this book, and how it enforces the idea of the power of words, and how you can imprision a person but not their souls. I also read Of Mice and Men, which was unexpectedly moving. Another 4 stars.
I am trying to finish A Dying Fall (Ruth Galloway #5) before it's due at the library. This series is comfort food for me.
I started Where the Crawdads Sing yesterday. I need to finish this one for my trivia challenge to apply for badge two. I have been reading around it for over a month and I decided that if I put it down here, I will stick with it. ;o)

I've read reviews that people weren't happy with the Irish accent of the narrator(s).
John Boyne probably broke all kinds of rules writing his new novel, A Traveller at the Gates of Wisdom, so of course, I loved it!
5★ My review of 'Traveller'
You Are Lovely! by words&pictures is a clever little board book for tiny tots.

I finished Graceling for the twisted trivia challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was exactly what I needed. Now moving on to Going Postal for the monthly challenge.
