Another book I've sadly neglected. Sigh.

After a woman's husband dies suddenly in a car accident, she learns his secrets while her life falls apart.
Good story. 3 stars

Monkeewrench #2, OK to read as a stand-alone. Dynamite mystery. Di-no-mite. Police procedural set in Minneapolis. Leo and Gino are the 2 main cops trying to solve murder after murder.
Really well done, I loved it. 5 stars, highly recommended.

I enjoyed Sandrine's Case.

The Nesting
by: C.J. Cooke
An unfortunately fatally-flawed thriller. My full review:

A woman is torn between two possible paths: returning to her first great love and studying Egyptology; or staying with her husband and daughter and being a death doula (helping dying people).
Good book. 4 stars

Science-fiction mystery set in a post-apocalyptic world. Gentle story, almost a cozy, following a future sort-of cop as she tries to determine was it an accident or murder. I liked it, 3 stars.

Dr. Siri Paiboun #7, prior knowledge of the characters would be helpful. While Dr. Siri is trying to solve a very strange triple murder he goes to Cambodia and must deal with the horrors of the Khmer Rouge and their killing fields. Cotterill does an amazing job of showing the awful slaughter that is taking place while not losing the tone of the book. 5 stars.

In this third book in the 'Cajun Country Mystery' series, amateur sleuth Maggie Crozat investigates the murder of a scheming businessman. The book can be read as a standalone. (In an interview the author said all her books can be read as standalones, like episodes of Murder, She Wrote 😊)
Nice Christmas atmosphere. 3 stars

My copy is supposed to arrive Oct. 6. Have you read his Quirke noir novels, written under the name of Benjamin Black? They're really good.

Patty wrote: "I’ve read several of the Benjamin Black books; really liked them. A lot easier to read these than some of the written in his real name, John Banville."
That's true, but some of the Banville novels are worth the effort. His Mefisto, for example, is really challenging, but oh so bloody good.

I bought the first novel of the series some time ago -- still just sitting here, unread.
