The Pardoner's Crime: A historical crime thriller featuring Robin Hood is the first in a new series by Keith Moray, who writes under a couple of other names. Light, easy read.

Finished Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead by Sara Gran. A quirky, unique protagonist, very quotable prose and really atmospheric. Rating - 4/5

Playdate by Alex DahlFinished
Ten Little Words by Leah Mercer. A little mystery, a little romance, and a good look at the debilitating effects of depression. https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Helter Skelter early this morning. Now onto something much more tame: The Red Right Hand, by Joel Townsley Rogers (1945).
Please Don't Tell
by Elizabeth AdlerA serial killer is murdering women in San Francisco and videotaping the horrific acts. A female emergency room doctor who treats a victim gets drawn into the killer's wily web.
Half romance, half mystery 3 stars

I finished (original Twilight Zone writer) Charles Beaumont's earliest short story collection - it was good but didn't contain much of his best work:
The Hunger: And Other Stories by Charles Beaumont
Rating: 3 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading:
Night Ride And Other Journeys by Charles Beaumont
There is a lot of overlap in Beaumont's various short story collections so I have already read many of these stories.

I have the Valancourt edition of The Hunger: And Other Stories on my shelves but I've not yet read it. Like many other books I own ... sigh.

Just finished The Silent Patient. Gave it 4 stars but I think it was more 3.5 stars. The writing was good but the transition to the twist confused me.

They didn't like being awakened in the middle of the night. :)
The Silence of the White City, a stunning spanish thriller masterfully translated. A masterpiece. Essential read for thriller lovers. TBR July 28thhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Camouflage
by Bill PronziniNameless detective #35, OK to read as stand-alone. 2 entirely unrelated cases from Nameless's PI firm. I liked the one Nameless handles -- the other one not so much. Professionally done, suspenseful, the dialogue didn't strike me as particularly realistic. A generous 3 stars.
Fatal
by John LescroartIn this standalone novel by John Lescroart (who pens the Dismas Hardy series) Detective Beth Tully's friend seduces a married man who gets murdered.
Okay mystery. 3 stars

I just finished the 2nd box set of Larry Winter's Jessie Black series, Steve Ruskin's Newton Cypher and Mark Bello's Zach Blake series.

Both of those books are great!!
I just finished The Girl Beneath the Sea Fun, action packed Mystery. Here’s my 3.5 star review:

I've two mysteries on the go -1. New Orleans Beat by Julie Smith, and
2. Earthly Delights by Kerry Greenwood
Finished watching you.... not a fan I have to say a little bit too much and a bit cliched. I am now onto The Woods by Harlan Coben.
The Torso in the Town
by Simon BrettFethering #3, OK to read as stand-alone. A rather gentle English mystery, starring neighbors Jude and Carole. Carole goes to a dinner party and a torso (body without limbs) is discovered in the basement. The ladies then commence to do their thing. I like this series, 4 stars.
Lock Every Door.I'm about a third of the way in, and so far, very intriguing. I'm late to the party - I just am never interested in books with a lot of hype! I get to them later, eventually.

I like this series, also his Charles Paris series.

Last few weeks i read theseAli Cross by James Patterson As a Spinoff from his Alex Cross books this was a very good book and I am gonna love his series with Alex's son Ali Cross
One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus Okay of a book but not as good as her One Of Us is lying
A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena Another great book from her
The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige Not as good as Dorothy Must Die
The Babysitter by Nancy Bush Not One of her best Found it very hard
Six Months Later & One Was Lost by Natalie D. Richards Both these books i read on the Libby App even though they where Young Adult I really liked both of these I will have to read more from her.
The Body in the Attic by Judi Lynn read this online and found it on the boring side
Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky I read this on the Libby app and I am so glad they had it i been dying to read this and glad i finally did even though the book was very creepy i has hook from start to finish
Now I am gonna start on these soon
I do so enjoy Louise Penny's Canadian Inspector (now Commander) Armand Gamache series, so I was delighted to visit Three Pines again in A Great Reckoning.

I like Brett's books. He has a nice variety of 'detectives.' 😊

Avoiding the intro is my standard practice with any book. I hate when they give away the show right up front.

I've just finished The Red Right Hand. It's one of those books where after it's all over, I'm sort of lost because I know I'll never find anything quite like it again.
Just finished:
The Bright Lands
by: John Fram
Mystery with superfluous supernatural elements but some good inclusion of marginalized characters.

Do No Harm
by Max Allen CollinsNate Heller #16, OK to read as stand-alone. Heller investigates the Dr. Sam Sheppard murder case in Cleveland. I think Collins has slowed down a bit from his peak but this is still a dynamite effort, and these Heller mysteries are a niche all their own. And personally, I grew up in Cleveland and remember the Sheppard murder case very well so there's that added bit of enjoyment. These Heller mysteries are highly recommended, 4 stars.
I finished another excellent short story collection by one of the writers behind many of the finest episodes of the original Twilight Zone TV series:
Night Ride And Other Journeys by Charles Beaumont
Rating: 4 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading another Beaumont collection:
Yonder by Charles Beaumont
Because of the overlap of stories in Beaumont's various collections, I have already read many of the stories in this book.
I just finished the latest Lynda LaPlante book, Blunt Force
Recommended for those that like realistic police procedurals. Here’s my review:
