Still reading Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Maybe it's me but I am struggling with this book. Hard to read. All the different names and their secret names, the switching between past and current without a transition at all. It seems so convoluted to me yet it is on Amazon's top 100 Mysteries/Thrillers which is why am reading it. I am glad I got it from the library rather than buying it. Any suggestions for making it easier? It's due in a week :)

Just completed Gone Tomorrow , by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles, the ninth book in the 21-book Inspector Bill Slider series. These are character-driven police procedurals that can be read as standalones, but I'm enjoying them as a series.

In this 8th book in the 'Kurt Wallander' series, the Swedish detective is dealing with personal problems while investigating two suspicious deaths. The book can be read as a standalone.

There are a lot of similarities: both books revolve around a policeman, both books are set in Scotland and in both books the plot has something to do with the past. David Mark's writing is just a bit less colorfoul than that of Stuart MacBride though.

Finished Names of the Dead. It was ok and I probably gave it a higher score than it deserved but it had good action scenes. I am reading my second big book of the year which is off genre, Game of Thrones. Hope to finish before end of month

The James Deans by Reed Farrel Coleman

Moe Prager #3, OK to read as stand-alone. Moe, ex-NYPD cop, in 1983, gets hired to investigate the death of a young intern to a rising-star politician. This is a very good entry in this series--realistic characters, a convoluted plot which emerges slowly, and a very readable writing style. 4 stars, highly recommended.

I was about to read his The Night at the Crossroads, but it seems that I've lost my copy somewhere in my shelves, so I picked up and starting reading A Crime in Holland. I was more than a wee bit miffed at myself for losing Night at the Crossroads, but that's normal in this house.

The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny

In this 3rd book in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series, the homicide detective investigates a woman's bizarre death. The book can be read as a standalone but - for maximum enjoyment - the series is best read in order.
