finished
The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistruphttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I definitely liked, but didn't love this. I found the number of characters quite overwhelming at times. A good solid piece of Nordic noir. 😷❤😍📚
Barbara wrote: "I finished "Dust" by Martha Grimes. When I say "finished" I mean I got so bored that I skimmed at least the last half. Having heard a lot about Grimes, I gave it a try (one of the Jury series) and ..."Barbara, this is the one book of the series that seemed "off" to me. i was very disappointed, but chose to give the next book a try, and it seemed to be back on track. You might want to give the series another shot.
I do suggest reading this series in order, though, because there are relationships that develop, and references to prior events.
Lunatics
by Dave Barry and Alan ZweibelTwo guys who hate each other become major criminals and international terrorists. Then turn into humanitarians. Then one of them pees on Sarah Palin. Not really a mystery but too funny not to review. And yes, that is THE Dave Barry. Really enjoyed the book, 4 stars.
Just started DEATH IN THE EAST by Abir Mukherjee, the fourth novel in his ongoing mystery series featuring Captain Sam Wyndham and Sergeant "Surrender-Not" Banerjee, set in Calcutta just after the end of World War I.
I started reading:
The Howling Man by Charles Beaumont
This collection was published in 1992 but most of the stories originally saw print in the 1950s and early 1960s, with a few published posthumously (Beaumont died in 1967). Beaumont was famous for his scripts for the original Twilight Zone series, and many of his stories were adapted as episodes of the series.
Of Mutts and Men
by Spencer QuinnIn this comical mystery, Bernie Little and his dog Chet - partners in the Little Detective Agency - investigate the death of a scientist.
Funny enjoyable mystery. 4 stars

Finished Mystic River. In my top three crime reads of all time. Simply Brilliant. Rating - 5/5My Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished The Winter Thief by Jenny White, the 3rd and final book in the Kamil Pasha historical mystery series. Excellent. (5 stars)https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Next I'm starting Unconditional Surrender by Evelyn Waugh.
Disappointed with
Little Whispers by K.L. Slater https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
A Price to Pay. Tenth book in the DCI Warren Jones series by Paul Gitsham. An excellent British police procedural. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Guns in the Gallery
by Simon BrettFethering #13, OK to read as stand-alone. Modern day English cozy. 2 neighbors (Carole and Jude) in Fethering, an English village, solve a murder that everyone thinks is a suicide. Mostly done well enough, if cozies are your thing. 3 stars.
I just finished The Mountains Wild
Well done, atmospheric mystery. Here’s my four star review:

Death of an Outsider
by M.C. BeatonIn this 3rd book in the 'Hamish Macbeth' series, the police constable is temporarily assigned to patrol a new town. The book can be read as a standalone.
Fun cozy with interesting characters. 3 stars

I agree, this book is definitely something else, but I really enjoyed it. The tone of the book, writing and the descriptions were very atmospheric.
It was a 4+/5 for me
I finished A Cast-Off Coven by Juliet Blackwell. I love this cozy mystery series! Juliet Blackwell researched well, and the characters are so enjoyable. It's more like a visit I look forward to. A bit darker than your average cozy mystery, edging into urban fantasy possibly. Very addictive, and strong, interesting female characters.

I could not put the book down! Quickly became one of my favourites :)
Finished ReplayNow Reading Ghostman By Roger Hobbs
I first read this book in 2014/15. But i want to re read it to refresh my memory before i start to read Vanishing Games
Finished Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Like most Crouch books has pretensions of depth the writing does not possess but works as one of the better examples of mindless entertainment. Rating - 3/5
My Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Outisder, by Linda Castillo
Another strong entry in the series. Being published in July. Here’s my four star review:

Six and a Half Deadly Sins
by Colin CotterillDr. Siri #10, possible to read as stand-alone but starting from the beginning of the series is recommended. Dr. Siri follows up some very obscure clues to uncover a series of terrible crimes. Very clever title but this is not among the best of the series. I'm a big fan of Dr. Siri but this one only gets 3 stars.

It is good, isn't it? I'm looking forward to reading it again. I hope you'll join the June discussion of this novel.
ps/ you might also enjoy her A Dark-Adapted Eye, written as Barbara Vine. I think that's my favorite under that name.

I'm so happy you enjoyed that one, Faith. You should try his The Inugami Curse aka The Inugami Clan -- it is a book filled with impossible crimes with a creepy atmosphere.
