A Winter In Ravensdale by Kate Fielding, a pleasant but not particularly memorable read. No idea what I am going to pick out of my pile of back reads next. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and on my website sandysbookaday.wordpress.com

The Choirboys by Joseph Wambaugh. An unique combination of satire and crime. Equally bleak and funny. Raw and crude yet greatly entertaining. Loved it. Rating - 5/5

I’m reading The Benefit of Hindsight (book 10 of the Simon Serrailler series) by Susan Hill.
I’m reading The Benefit of Hindsight (book 10 of the Simon Serrailler series) by Susan Hill. It’s fun to read a who-dunnit. However, often—in this series—the mystery takes a back seat to the interactions of the characters.

Finally finished Natchez Burning by Greg Iles. Reading Circular Staircase by Mary Reinhart. One of Amazon 100 mysteries. I don't think I will finish all of them this year, but I only have maybe 23 - 27 to go.

The Circular Staircase is a good book. Good, not great, but I love the main character in that one.

by Chris KnopfSam Acquillo #4, OK to read as stand-alone. Another very good entry in the series -- dead girl, assorted assholes from Sam's past, and off we go. Series is recommended, 4 stars.
I have enjoyed focusing on Margaret Millar in Feb. Finished my 3rd book by her, The Fiend (4 stars). My review below

Started Day of the Arrow by Philip Loraine. I was watching the movie based on it—Eye of the Devil— starring Deborah Kerr and David Niven for the second time and thought I’d read the book.

 Fatherland
      Fatherland
   by Robert Harris
by Robert HarrisPolice detective follows a mystery started by the discovery of the dead body of a formerly important government official in an alternative-reality Berlin in 1964 in which Germany won WW II. Harris is a talented professional author and the construction of the book shows it. Late in the story there is a detailed description of the Nazi death camps and also a graphic torture scene. Personal reaction : downgraded from 4 stars to 3.

Last night I started reading The Aosawa Murders by Riku Onda. Sadly I was so exhausted that I didn't make it too far in, but it seems good so far.

Quite a few people whose opinions I trust on my GR friends list gave it a 2, so don't feel alone. I usually swim against the tide myself.

We'll have to compare notes! I preordered mine months ago when I first heard about it. I got it yesterday and it went right up to the nightstand, because I have a tendency to shelve books and then forget about them.

I appreciate the heads-up on this, especially about the death camps and torture scene. I shiver just thinking about it.
