How about it, friends? We did this one several years ago, and it was a hit, but then we thought about changing things up...and well, things kind of were a swing and a miss. So, let's go back to what has worked and been super fun!

This is the 2020 Themes challenge. It's three-fold.

First, we need volunteers to pick a month and then come up with a "challenge theme" for each month.

Second, you sign up and pick your book. Dropping the name and title into the correct monthly thread, who knows, maybe you'll inspire a buddy read! (No cheating! Books must be read during the months they're themed for, in order to count)

Third, before the ending of the last day of the month, you report back and let us know the rating you gave it. That's it. Pretty simple, really.

(The last time we did this, we all used our massive TBR piles and made it a rule that this was a TBR challenge...I'm forgoing that rule this time, because-fun! I want this to be fun and not a slog to get through, you know? However, you certainly can stick to that rule, if you want to.)

January ~ Michele's choice ~ More Than One Heart On The Line ~ A Single Parent Romance

February ~ Renee's pick ~ One Giant Leap ~ In honor of Leap Year, an Age Gap Romance

March ~ Nicole's choice ~ Oh, Baby?!? A surprise baby romance.

April ~ T.'s birthday choice! ~ A Love So True, Not! (Enemies-to-Lovers)

May ~ Cátia's choice ~ Any book published in May. Could be May 2020...could be May 1999...

June ~ Lisa's "Look...a squirrel" challenge ~ this would be a book that's been on your TBR list the shortest amount of time.

(view spoiler)

July ~ Grey's choice ~ Let's hear it for the Red, White & Blue. *Grey's note ~ choose a book with a color in the title*

August ~ Robin's pick ~ Birthstone cover! Choose a book with its cover the color of your birthstone.

September ~ Leslie's Choice ~ The Name Game! Use the first letter of your first name and pick a title that starts with that letter. Or a book where author's name (first or last) starts with that letter.

October ~ Lisa S.'s Pick ~ Something Spook-tacular! Go Paranormal!

November ~ Sarah's Choice ~ New to You ~ Pick a genre/trope that isn't your norm, or a new to you author.

December ~ Judy's Pick ~ Rock on! Musician romance or a book set in Canada to honor our theme picker's choice this month!

Each month that you participate and finish on/before the last day of the month, you will get your name added to a list that will be eligible to be randomly selected from at the beginning of 2021 for a $10 Amazon gift card.

Yes, ma'am!

Lisa and Renee, you two are up!

message 9: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments We shall call this one the "Look...a squirrel" challenge - so this would be a book that's been on your TBR list the shortest amount of time.

If you're like me at all, I cannot tell you how many books I've added because I just HAD to read it right now, then got completely distracted by something else that was brighter and shinier! Time to knock out one of those newly added ones you promised yourself you'd read (whether it's a new release or an old gem you dug up from someone else's list/recommendation) but it somehow just gets shoved in the pile.

Yes, I was thinking the peridot would simply be green. And April with the diamond or white sapphire would be white.
