Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments The Last Letter was one hell of a journey! What a phenomenal read! I’m pretty sure I used an entire box of Kleenex but it was worth it. She’s a great author!!

So glad you enjoyed it. Yeah - there were definitely little ninjas cutting onions underneath my eyes on that one. I still remember sitting at my desk at work when I was finishing it, and just sobbing and muttering "nooooooooooo...it's not fair". I need a good tear-jerker read, but I think maybe I'm becoming immune to them after reading so many.

I had to turn it off at work. Then I had to turn it off in my car before I went in to a dr appointment. Good lord, I was afraid they'd think something was wrong with me ;-) Oh Lisa, I think maybe that's a challenge...I wonder if I can find you a good tearjerker you haven't read yet....*rubbing my hands together*

Yes! You and Lisa are crazy with your sad, death books!! 😂

You know what's funny? Sometimes the thing that makes me cry the most in books is the happy/bittersweet parts rather than the depressing.

message 217: by Layne (new)

Layne | 146 comments I finally finished Beartown. Wow. If I’m honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get through it. The 3rd person POV was tough for me to connect with and the extreme attention to detail felt a little tedious at first. But once I reached the 40% mark, I realized how important every detail was. This story was sneaky & when it hit me over the head, I never saw it coming. It’s truly incredible & it’s a book that will never leave me. It deserves more than 5 ⭐️ & I’m so glad I kept reading. Thanks for the pick, Lynette!

It’s always interesting to me when people don’t like 3rd person. I prefer it over 1st. It takes serious skill for me to enjoy 1st person. What I love is when I can’t remember if a book is first or third. That means that the writing was flawless to me, for the most part.

I’m a details person, so Beartown was right up my alley. Although, you had to suspect that the details were vital after that shocking opening scene. 😉. Lynnette did good by you. 😁

I did love this book, Layne. It took me a minute to get a copy so I started it on the last day of January and finished it on the first day of February. I love Colleen Hoover's practical approach to issues most of us face in real life. Bad stuff happens to us all and she never lets us forget that it is not easy, but it can be handledHer sense of humor is off the chain as well. Her characters are always engaging and interesting. He stories full of the pain an beauty life brings. This one is no different. I gave it 4 stars. Thank you for picking this for me.
