A favourite genre and a favourite author: Aussie Sulari Gentill with her historical mystery Gentlemen Formerly Dressed (5th in the series). Rowland and his mates are in 1930s London, hoping they've escaped from Nazis. I loved this mix of high society, politics, and pre-war England.

The Rich Man's House
A completely surprising and unique read. Unlike anything I've read before. Very memorable.

Hive
What a great book! Can't believe it isn't more widely known. Australian young adult dystopia.

The Bass Rock
Incredibly beautiful writing. Not much happens.

Below Deck
An absolutely wonderful novel. Simple yet powerful.

How to Grow a Family Tree
A beautiful novel about wonderful flawed characters and difficult but loving relationships with family and friends.

Could have a bit of trouble with a couple of the remaining books in my list as I was going to source them from the library and, although just re-opening for browsing, our libraries in Derbyshire are not processing outstanding reservations at the moment, or taking new ones! And a 're-jig' will be difficult as I don't have that many Aussie author books on my shelves or kindle - not easy to come by over here!

Just do your best Kim - if you have to go over time because of Covid, so be it. Circumstances are not for us at the moment are they! But you've still got at least 4 months - hopefully the libraries will be working better before then :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Brenda! One of my 'August Challenge' reads was supposed to be waiting at the library but they've issued it to someone else by mistake!! Also having trouble with one of my '2020-published Aussie author' reads (also supposed to be coming from the library) but fortunately spotted one in the supermarket today that fits the bill - Hunted by Gabriel Bergmoser, who I have never heard of but sounds right up my street!

Grrrr... that is the worst! It happened to me last year with the copy of Boy Swallows Universe that I'd been waiting over 6 months for.
Good luck for the rest of the challenge. Do you use the Libby app for ebooks and audiobooks? I find that's a really useful resource when I need to sub in a book at the last minute.

I've finished my male authors. This challenge made me realise I don't read a lot of male authors - my other three categories are filled with all women.
Finishing off Morris Gleitzman's Once series (which is great) helped fill a lot of these spaces.
I highly recommend The Rich Man's House and I was very impressed by On a Barbarous Coast, which I got from A&U through this group.
