Jeremy Lachlan was born and raised on Wiradjuri country, in Griffith, NSW, Australia. A former bookseller, he completed his Honours degree in creative writing at the University of Canberra in 2004, and now calls Sydney home. His debut novel, Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds, was the 2019 Australian Book Industry Award winner for Book of the Year for Older Children, and its sequel, Jane Doe and the Key of All Souls, was shortlisted for the same award in 2021, but both of those pale in comparison to the $100 he once took home in a karaoke competition. He came up with the idea for the Jane Doe Chronicles while lost in the Cairo Museum.

Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds by Jeremy Lachlan
Hi there, Eline, officially, I think we said 10+, but I've heard from kids as young as 7 who have read and enjoyed it. Some read along with their parents, others by themselves. I wrote it for teens and adults, too, so everyone can get involved :)

“I’m pretty sure I elbow Hickory in the stomach. He knees me in the head.”
Jeremy Lachlan, Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds

“The stone pillars of this once grand Manor hall glow red. The ceiling is ash-stained, crumbling. A lavafall flows from an upstairs gallery. There is a weakened gateway to an Otherworld up there.”
Jeremy Lachlan, Jane Doe and the Key of All Souls

“No, I threw it into the lava – of course I still have the arrow.”
