Amy | 12914 comments Heather, so glad you are joining us and you are doing great! There is a list at the top of the thread if already existing buddy reads and a few more have been added recently. I am going to compile the whole list by tomorrow, but you have to go through the whole thing for now to add new ones. Happy holidays and new year!

I'm not 100% how buddy reads work, but I've tried to pair up my list with people reading some of the same books. I had a few conflicts, so I tosse.23. The Hired Man by Aminatta Forna ** (Noticed Booknblues doing this book, buddy read?).."

Sounds good. You placed it at the right number so we are set. I read Happiness by her last year and really loved it so wanted to read more by Forna.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Joi wrote: "Meli- I added Lolita to my list at #17 to match yours"

Awesome! I definitely want to get to it this year so hopefully it gets picked.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Heather wrote: "Meli - I noticed The Left Hand of Darkness on your list, but my #3 is currently occupied. Not sure if you want to coordinate? I’ve currently listed it at #15."

I would change it, but Johanne has Left Hand of Darkness on her list at #3 also... could you switch 3 and 15?

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8412 comments Y'all are a hoot ... and very well organized! I'll be watching an perhaps occasionally playing along.

But I have major plans for the rest of my Trim the TBR books since I play Seasonal Reading Challenge .... I've prioritzed all my Trim book on that spreadsheet so I'll use them first when appropriate.

Love this group!

message 156: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Joy D has the Dream Daughter at 20 - which I deleted, to make room for two new buddy reads.... Perhaps a new change for me is in order.

message 157: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 983 comments Do you need me to change anything Meli?

message 158: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Nope, I'm good with Joy at 20 for Dream Daughter...

message 159: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments So I just went through this long thread and I still have a few notes to share...

Shelley and Kelly have Once upon a River at 18 - Hayjay has it at 20. Not sure, but Charlotte may have had this one on her list somewhere too.

Sue, you never got back to me about the Flight Attendant, which i have at 16

Hearts Invisible Furies - Charlotte has it at 17, Jen K at 24, Ellie at 10.

Lots of doubled titles I found:

Home going, Johanne and Jen K....
Orphan Masters Son (one was Joi)
Rebecca (one was Joi)

The real Lolita? (One of them was Robin)

Onyx and Crake? One of them was Miriam

Where is Frankisstein? And who?
Where is Notes on a Crocodile, Idit and Meli maybe? We are that Young?

What else might I be missing? I can always edit it after we publish the list. But thought to see if any of this helps us sort it out straightaway. Any news on the Virgin Suicides? Can you flip things around Heather? Or for Left Hand in Darkness? If your three is filled, I would read it anyway when three is picked, and just read two that month, and pick something else for that slot. But that's me. Let me know guys if anything else pops up before Friday. Can't wait to see the number.

I just changed mine to match yours once I saw your latest list. Forgot to post about it though :-)

Heather Reads Books (gothicgunslinger) | 859 comments Meli wrote: "I would change it, but Johanne has Left Hand of Darkness on her list at #3 also... could you switch 3 and 15?"

I could, but then I'd be out of sync with Shelly and Becoming... *shrug* It's no big deal, just thought I'd ask!

message 163: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Read becoming and left hand of darkness in the same month! Two buddy reads. Fill in something else for 15. Big month with tag and challenges, and you can be surprised when it turns up.

Sue | 2715 comments Amy wrote: "Sue, you never got back to me about the Flight Attendant, which i have at 16"

I must have missed that along the way.

I just moved Flight Attendant to 16. Excited to have another buddy read to look forward to!

message 165: by Liz (new)

Liz Hi all, I recently joined PBT after hearing about it in the Popsugar Challenge forums. I love the sound of the trim the TBR challenge in particular and have set up my list for 2020 here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Really looking forward to joining in, excited to see what the first number will be :)

message 166: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Liz, Welcome! Someone else possibly more than one someone else also has 9 perfect strangers on their list if you’d like to match up the numbers. You are going to love Daisy Jones and the Six and love our group. Funny that our Trim Continuation got you to join us - but hey, whatever opens the door we are glad you walked in!

Amy, at the time I posted my list there was not anyone else who had it on theirs so I just put it wherever. I have adjusted it to #18 to match Shelley and Kelly.

message 168: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 938 comments Yay Hayjay!
Amy, thanks for maximizing our buddy reads!

message 169: by Amy (new)

message 170: by Meli (new)

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Johanne - you wanna move Left Hand of Darkness to 15 so we can match Heather? She's got another buddy read at 3 but my 15 is whatever to change if you want to....

I didn't realize you had another buddy read in your 3 slot. I can easily move, so we'll see if Johanne can also then there will be 3 of us for Left Hand of Darkness.

message 172: by Jen (new)

Jen (jentrewren) | 1114 comments Don't think anything I have on my TRIM list matches anyone at all!
I do have Heart's Invisible Furies on my PS or ATY list though so if that number gets called for those doing that buddy read would it be OK if I joined in?

Liz we match in numbers with Erotic Tales of Pujabi Widows, but I have Wild at 20 and can't move it to 18, is it possible for you to move so we could have a buddy read?

Jen, I felt bad for you and went back and check your list. I have Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? on my tbr and hope to read it this year as it fits with several in the poll ballot so I added it at 12. I thought that Baba Yaga Laid an Egg looked interesting and it was only $1.99 today(now you know why I have so much on my tbr.) so I added it at number 19, both amazingly were free numbers for me.

Anyone else willing to help Jen. She has some good books on her list.

Now I have to go and adjust my lists. I have them in 3 places and have to keep them identical.

LibraryCin | 11669 comments Jen wrote: "Don't think anything I have on my TRIM list matches anyone at all!..."

I find it somewhat amusing that none of mine fit the buddy reads! LOL! It doesn't really matter to me, but most on my list have just been there for a very long time.

In a lot of cases, it's likely because they aren't as well-known, I think (or, a lot of them, anyway). That being the case, they don't have as many tags, and that's how I see what's on my tbr that fits various challenges, so the more popular books get read sooner, for me, in many cases.

It looks like you like to read ones about animals as do I.

I do! I like a mixture of genres. I used my TRIM for books which I had had for a while which didn't fit PS or ATY this year.

Thank you Amy! Thanks for catching Nine Perfect Strangers, I've moved that to 5 to fit in with Charlotte.

I'm looking forward to reading Daisy Jones. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was one of my favourite reads from this year.

I may dip into other challenges too, but trim the TBR was the one that really called to me :) I had a look at the discussions for it earlier this year but decided I wouldn't be able to join in with this one as well as doing Popsugar in 2019. Can't wait to be involved in 2020! :)

Hiya, I put Erotic Tales at 21 to match with you, but somehow missed that you have Wild on your list too. I've moved mine to 20 :)

message 188: by Idit (new)

Idit | 1028 comments I'm finally back by a computer and finished with my gruelling work shift
I'd love it if we move frankissstein, but not sure if the numbers were already drawn.
Miriam - if you can move it to any of these numbers
2-7, 9-10, 12-13, 17-18, 21-23
at the moment I put it at 2 but can move to any of these.

Amy | 12914 comments Daisy Jones is awesome! Somebody else had that on their list. Maybe Elise?

Big announcement later this afternoon for the number! But no worries if folks are still figuring things out. We can always edit the first post to make sure we’ve covered everything.

If you got with me by noon to post the number that would be ideal... if not no worries though.

I will be incommunicado from 12 until at least 1pm. Driving to my grandma's.

Nope, not me ;)

message 194: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Kelly, I was just counting as many Buddy reads as I could and figuring out if there were some I found that people missed. I think I was trying to stretch my memory across 27 or so lists. Mostly the books I love or was sort of interested in called to me, I'm sure there are other's I missed. That was as far as I got in the lists. I did want to say that I love Beatrix Williams and she is one of my authors to make a year's focus on. This year, my author of the year is Taylor Jenkins, but I vowed to also read at least one Beatriz Williams, (and one Lucinda Riley, Kate Morton, Melanie Benjamin, Jojo Moyes, (and one other I am forgetting.) They are all littered all over my TBR, So what I am saying, is perhaps the one you read for Trim, I will read with you. Or sometime later in the year.....
