Find Your Flight - 2020

Just completed a book for my Feminism and Christianity flight - Womanist Midrash by Wilda C. Gafney. I truly appreciate the author's scholarship in this book! It is evident on every page how thorough she was in her interpretation. And I really enjoyed her perspective. I had difficulty with her writing and really struggled through this one. Highly recommend for biblical scholarship! 3 stars

I've recently read Hell's Gate by Laurent Gaudé, and I loved it so much that it's going to be the starting point of my fist flight. And what a flight it is to be! Board with me, we're on a flight to Hell!

I'm starting my second flight, the one about the theme "social media". My first book for this flight is #Murdertrending by Gretchen McNeil. I love the cover!

I picked this book because I thought it would be about death penalty, but it's much more about the pitfalls of social media.

I just read

Congratulations on being the first to complete the challenge!!!

Thank you!

I finished Need by Joelle Charbonneau : it's about a terrible social media site. Last book for my flight about social media! All the covers were beautiful.

Just completed my Faith and Feminism flight - A Year of Biblical Womanhood by Rachel Held Evans. Overall, I give this author a lot of credit for tackling this idea. I like some of her ultimate conclusions at the end. I do think she glosses over quite a lot of problems in the bible and sugarcoats issues in the American church. 3.5 stars

Just completed another book for Faith and Feminism flight - Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Fantastic! Exactly what I needed to read right now! Her bravery and knowing are an inspiration! Definitely worth reading! 5 stars

Just completed a book for my Asexuality flight - The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater. This is a really important book! It explores non-binary gender, poverty, juvenile justice or the lack thereof, restorative justice, systemic racism, all through the true account of a ride on a bus for two different teens in 2013. I really appreciate the research that went into this account and how it was seamlessly woven into the story. As someone who fights for teens every day and sees the lasting impacts, I highly recommend this book. 5 stars
