Just completed my first book for my third flight - Ethiopia - The Shadow King by Maaza Mengiste. I appreciate what the author is trying to accomplish, highlighting the woman warriors of Ethiopia's fight against Italian invasion in the 30's and 40's. And she has inspired me to learn more about Ethiopia. However, I did not like her writing style - it felt overly complicated. Worth reading for the story. 3 stars
4/12

FLIGHT 5: TERRA INCOGNITA: GREAT EXPLORERS, ADVENTURERS, AND PIONEERS (3/5)

Just completed a book for my fourth flight, Asexuality - City of Betrayal by Claudie Arseneault. I really enjoyed this second book in the trilogy, much more than I expected. The author was able to focus on developing the characters, rather than the world, and the plot benefited from that attention. Worth reading! 4 stars
5/12

Just completed my first flight - Mexico - with this third book - The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia. I really wanted to like this book more, but I found myself struggling to hold together the pieces of the plot. There were parts told in flashback and parts as if a continuation of the story, and I struggled to figure out who was narrating. I really enjoyed the setting and the pieces of Mexican history threaded throughout. I loved the fantastical bits with Simonopio. Worth reading. 3.5 stars
