LOL! How did you even find that book, Anne? I'll make a note. There's always next year's tasks.

Marin Ireland won for best female narrator!
It's a bit of a quirky odd, story, that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it! :)
I've enjoyed her performances in the Beartown series. Thanks for posting that link, Anne. I like to check out the winners.
Hello again, about this Yay Task - The Cover has a tower on it, or the title contains the word "Tower".Does the castle tower at the back count?
I know it's a task, but not one of mine, but if you need a book for Hawaii or an indigenous people Sharks in the Time of Saviors was an excellent book.

"Yes, it will count.
Janice - I have a question that fits a couple different cards, so I thought I'd ask it here. I have a book that took place almost equally in in 1875 and 1987. I went through all the chapters and it turns out that the book was 2% more in 1987. Is that enough to use it for the 1980s task? Or were you looking for a bigger percentage of the book to fit the task? Oddly enough, I was originally reading it thinking it would fit for the 1800s task, but no such luck.

Janice, I have my last like 10 books for badge 4 planned out. But I am sure that I will read some books that would fit for Badge 5 before the end of the year. Can I list them in my personal thread as Badge 5 books or do you want me to tag them all as Badge 4 and then re-sort them after I finish Badge 4 like with Badge3/4?
Katrisa wrote: "Janice, I have my last like 10 books for badge 4 planned out. But I am sure that I will read some books that would fit for Badge 5 before the end of the year. Can I list them in my personal thread ..."Just list them as badge 4 and we'll sort them out when you finish Badge 4.
Is The Princess Bride considered a classic romance? (for card 25 Nay Task - The genre is classic romance.)
Bash wrote: "Is The Princess Bride considered a classic romance? (for card 25 Nay Task - The genre is classic romance.)"
Yes, both genres show on the main book page.

I've seen some books connect like this" classics > romance " while this one is divided, I just had to make sure, sorry for the silly question!
Janice, I'm almost finished Badge 2 (one book to go), but of course I was reading selections toward Badge 3 at the same time. Now I have a problem that one of my Badge 3 selections fits a task that I needed to fill for Badge 2 so I need to do a bit of switching. What's the best way to do that? You've already "checked marked" the selection I want to switch.

Badge 2, book 12

I have decided to jump in! I am sitting outside with the laptop with a hot cup of coffee and will start the trivia test ;-).

Katie wrote: "I have decided to jump in! I am sitting outside with the laptop with a hot cup of coffee and will start the trivia test ;-)."Good for you Katie! Plenty of time to do badge 1 :-D
Thanks very much and thanks for the tips too! I have finished the trivia test, (I never realized I knew so little lol), and I now need to update my answers and start looking at possible books to read ;-)
Janice, kudos to you! A wonderful challenge and I, (like a lot of members from what I can see), are really looking forward to what you are doing for 2021!

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I never followed those discussions as I never read graphic novels. I do have one now that I'd love to read :) So how do I go about estimating the length of a graphic novel, and whether it qualifies for the challenge?I'm considering The Complete Persepolis, which has 343 pages. I would guess that reading this takes me about as much time as a book of about 200 pages, as of course there's less text, but there are a lot of graphics to look at at. 'Guess' is the key word here though, as I'm totally inexperienced.
Any advice/opinions are appreciated :)
We've had the conversation at some point. I'm not sure where it is. I think you're safe with 343 pages.
Uggh, am I at that point in the year already 😩 Am I still playing "the long game," or am I just aiming to finish the closest badge . . .?
I know I won't finish the next badge. I'm at the point where I'm reading books that don't fit anywhere in the challenge.
I've read a couple of books that fit the challenge recently, but just random cards, so I haven't even reported them. I'm just hoping to finish my current badge at this point.
I am in agreement, and chose the card that I am closest to completing, as opposed to the task that would otherwise be hardest to fill again.
I am currently reading books randomly, but still reporting them under the Badge 4 banner, if they fit a task. Many are library books that I have had holds on, or have been on the burner "for later". They keep showing up, so I keep reading them. I still have no finished cards for this badge yet, but some are close. ;o)
It sort of feels wrong to be abandoning the hope of more, but I really should try to focus on the five books needed to get badge 3, and let the rest go lol
I can understand that... I just know I won’t be able to read enough in the next couple of months to get more than the badge I’m working on. Even that could easily slip away if I don’t focus on those books.
I'm in the same boat. I have about 11 books to read for badge 4, but several of the books I picked out earlier in the year for some of those tasks just don't sound appealing right now and it seems every book that I put on hold during hard lockdown has recently become available, so I've been reading those. I have also abandoned several books that I started - just not what I want to read right now. I don't think I'm in a reading slump, but my focus has definitely shifted. I have been crazy busy this month (making up for lost time) and will probably end up reading only a couple of books. Oh well
This is a great challenge Janice and I can't believe it took me this long to discover it...It's almost the end of the year, but I am still gonna try... It's so cool, I just can't help it...

You have roughly 7 weeks to read 12 books. You can certainly give it a try. It will be a warm up to the 2021 challenge which I'll be posting before the end of the month.
