My reading has slowed down, but I am finally reading again. I had to change my mind set that I have controlled everything I can and now it's out of my hands. It's taking several weeks to get there, but it has helped me calm down and focus a bit.

Kristie | 19136 comments Finally came up with a sort of plan. I have a bunch of books that I'd like to read and I'm going to choose from them as I go. The only books I really have planned are my YLTO challenge, theme, and toppler.

Great and Precious Things (review)

April challenge: Let's Get Cozy

Stalking Jack the Ripper
Before and After (library)
The Giver of Stars (library)

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I might just beat out Almeta for posting my May books. It's not even April 12th, and I've got most of the slots filled for May. See what self-isolation can do.

You DID beat me! Evil Smile

BUT I too have my plan. Self-isolation does provide a lot more time for exploration...I want to read everything I see. AND to tackle my challenges en masse!

Unfortunately a closed library is not an accommodating ally.

Good to read your plans. You have some pretty weighty reading there!

message 71: by Kristie, Moderator (last edited Jun 30, 2020 01:50PM) (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I'll be shocked if I get through half of these, but the books I'd like to read this month are:

What You Wish For
All the Broken People
Before and After
Woof
The New Husband
Little Secrets
The Whisper Man
The Sun Down Motel
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
Trouble in Mudbug
Eat Move Sleep
Death on a Summer Night
Little Creeping Things
Sparrow
Swamp Sniper (added)

What You Wish For by Katherine Center All the Broken People by Leah Konen Before and After The Incredible Real-Life Stories of Orphans Who Survived the Tennessee Children's Home Society by Judy Christie Woof (Bowser and Birdie #1) by Spencer Quinn The New Husband by D.J. Palmer Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier The Whisper Man by Alex North The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman Trouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #1) by Jana Deleon Eat Move Sleep How Small Choices Lead to Big Changes by Tom Rath Death on a Summer Night (Cherringham, #12) by Matthew Costello Little Creeping Things by Chelsea Ichaso Sparrow by Mary Cecilia Jackson Swamp Sniper (Miss Fortune Mystery, #3) by Jana Deleon

And I still don't have one with day or night in the title for our group's themed read... hmmm...

Edit: Ok, I'm going to try to read Death on a Summer Night for the monthly theme. I also forgot to add Little Creeping Things, which I'm already reading. I am going to keep Sparrow here too even though I most likely won't get to it this month. I just don't want to forget that I need to read it because I started it a while ago and put it aside for other reads. I've added them to the above options.

LOL. My TBR # has gone down by 5 books since I looked at the number last month. I cannot say it is from my TT challenge though. I seem to add more books looking at what others post than I work off. I have been trying to do a little clean and eliminate some books that I know I will never read. It is hard to do though, because they all still sound good.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments So, this was like "if you write them down, you will finish them".
Too funny, but hmm. I finished all of the books in my message 73 June plan along with one other, Riviera Gold. I downloaded a slew of audiobooks from my library, but I am not sure if I will listen to them all. They were available, that is all. I am currently reading a book for my TT challenge and may start another. I seem to be all over the place.

It is my granddaughter's birthday today and we are going to watch Merlin on Netflix. That is what she wants to do, since I do not have a car (it is in the shop) and we cannot go anywhere anyway.

Margo | 11628 comments Nice list Almeta! I'm feeling a bit sad as I actually had to add a few library books to my december list yesterday. Where has the year gone? I thought I had loads of time to read more books for the challenge 🤔

Yes the year is rapidly slipping by us. I find I am reading a lot of unplanned material., which has given me some surprisingly very good reads, that I would likely not have chosen. BUT they are not meeting the challenge requirements.

My local library has not re-opened yet, so I have lots of challenge books on the "back burner"!

Fortunately, I can still go through their digital library for some, so I don't lack for reading material.

I need to find digital alternatives to replace the challenge books that I had planned.

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments August reading plan:

Audiobooks:

Cake (monthly challenge)
Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre (new Release, TT)
Age of Death (Series)
The Emperor's Blades (TBR)

Book/eBook:

Old Bones (Group Themed Read)
The President's Lady (TT)
They Went Left (TT)
The Legacy of the Key (TT)
We, the Drowned (TBR)

Toppler: TBA

Margo | 11628 comments That's annoying Almeta. I've had to find alternatives of a couple of planned challenge books that I started that just didn't pull me in but, as I only do audio downloads, the library closure didn't much impact me. What did impact me is that the library got in extra some great titles and I was lured away from my reading plan 😁

What do you think of Sullivan's Legends of First Empire series?.

Added Cake to my TBR. How could I resist? (EVEN IF IT IS A ROMANCE!)
