(view spoiler)[That fire thing was really weird. I wonder if it has any link to why Kahlin was asking so many questions to Richard about whether he had a fire and what he used it for. It seemed strange that she did so just because she missed sitting by a fire.

Plus his whole 'important members of the community have been plotting against us' thing is also very suspicious since no one else seems to have heard anything about these plots. I think Michael is trying to get rid of rivals or people who may speak out against him. (hide spoiler)]

I'm terrible for that. I have read The Eye of the World about 4 or 5 times but have never managed to finish book 3. I get bored of the series and put it to one side and then when I go to pick it back up again I can't remember what happened so start again.

I will say it was refreshing starting the book with the Big 3, Richard, Zedd and a little later Kahlan.
I don't remember Richard's brother from the show. Was he on season 1?

Finished ch 11

(view spoiler)[So, Zedd is the wizard and Richard is the seeker - both of those seemed pretty obvious but I still can't work out what a Confessor is. And what happens if Kahlan chooses Richard?

So, if Michael is starting to warn people about fire and Darken Rahl has forbidden fires it would seem that Michael may be leading up to outlaw fires. But does Michael know about Rahl? Has Michael spoken to him or just one of his minions/supporters? If Michael is for Rahl is it willingly or is he under a spell or something (like the people who threw flowers) or has he been lied to about Rahl's purpose?

I loved the bit where Zedd talks to the mob. Very clever and it was so funny when they thought he had stolen their, ahem, manhood. Their most precious thing - doesn't say much for their families. (hide spoiler)]

Michael & Rahl. There is too much coincidence with timing for them to be working separately. But I can't imagine Michael working for Rahl. I think he's too much power-driven for something like that. Is there some kind of mind control (except that Zebb's thing with finger under chin ☺)? And since obviously border isn't really working as it should, Rahl and Michael could be BFs for years already. Plotting world domination. :P
I understand why Rahl forbade fire--that way he stops magic, but since Michael isn't in magic land, there is no real reason for it. Unless that's the way to avoid use of magic in his land after border falls.
I don't know why but I'm sure I'll be laughing later for this ideas. :P (hide spoiler)]

Finished ch 25

(view spoiler)[Ok, it's picked up again. Richard and Kahlan are now in the Midlands and have met the mud people. I like them and their crazy way of greeting people. I hope they join the cause.

And some chapters with Rahl. He really is horrible. First we have the whole perfect shrine to his father (with all the threats and the executions) and then the misogyny - Rahl definitely has issues. Then child abuse. Demmin Nass is just nasty and poor Carl. Rahl and Nass have to die.

But some good news - Zedd is awake. Yay! I hope the three start confiding in each other more. Richard still hasn't told them about the book or the tooth - he's in danger because of them and Zedd or even Kahlan may know more. Kahlan still won't tell Richard about being a Confessor - but Richard needs to know because the book talks about a Confessor. And what is Zedd's important task?

On a side note in the Adie chapters I kept thinking about this Blackadder scene Blackadder - Grammar Lesson. (hide spoiler)]

I was wondering that too, with regards to Chase not being surprised about seeker or the sword. He wasn't even surprised that Richard was the Seeker.

With the Confessor, Zebb instantly made sure Kahlan hadn't touched Richard and the sword is giving him a warning when she does touch him. Also in the conversation with Shar, Mate was mentioned, so thinking she bonds with someone and maybe they won't be in control any power, she will.

Definitely too much coincidence for Michael and Rahl to not have some connection. It might not be direct, but something is linking them, I think. (hide spoiler)]

How close are series and book? Should I wait until finished with reading to watch it?

Umm, I'd probably read the first two, maybe three books before watching the series. Just because they pull some characters and storylines from later books for season two, I believe. I've only read book one before, but I've read the blurbs and some of the stuff in the blurbs sounds like stuff from the show.

Honestly, though, you can watch it and still read the books. I think they're just different enough that you shouldn't have to worry too much -- they just make each other more enjoyable :)

Zed is definitely a character! He comes up with some creative ways to get his way.

So I did some reading last night night, and was hooked like the first time I read this series. I knocked back a few hundred pages!
