Agree! Great options to pick from...wide range of possibilities! Another great tribute to a loved one!

Thanks Tara Jo & Melissa :) I had a couple other things I was kicking around with family/friends I want to build a task around, but I couldn't shake the feeling that he should be first. Lindsey IL's task from Fall made me happy and was a big inspiration.
I'm glad you think it has loads of options, Tara Jo! I was trying to be as inclusive of genre preferences as I could--I made Cait S listen to everything I brainstormed and approve it before I sent it in. haha.

Hi Sue,
It's a yes for Jurassic Park and In Deep Shitake.
The Unhappy Medium reads a bit more orange to me though, so I'd have to say no to that one.

Hi Bea,
Unfortunately the Bone House looks more orange than anything to me, but all three of your other cover options are approved for option #2.

Hi LouLouReads,
I'm having that problem this time around with a lot of the tasks so far. Just multiple options for everything. :)
The genre 'Books About Books' is verified for both options! Good luck choosing! ;)

Thanks, Morgan.

Great task!"
Hi Judy,
Thanks :) & 'books about books' is verified for your selection!

Unfortunately the Bone House looks more orange than anything to me, but all three of your other cover options are approved for option #2."
That's OK, Morgan. As you can see, I have other options.

Something we all have in common. ;) Too many options. haha.

You are correct, Jamie. Ebooks without print versions, unfortunately, would not be allowed since they can't be verified for page count per SRC rules.

I figured, just double checking before I start picking :-)
And I agree, fun task and such a nice dedication.

Thanks :) And no problem. I have a couple I'm trying to fit in this season as well.

REQUIRED: include both the date the book was added to your to read list AND the date that you joined Goodreads when posting.
I don't keep my TBR on Goodreads, but in several Excel spreadsheets. My original spreadsheet got so long that in 2011 I started a new one. However, I really don't have a date I added anything to this list.
Is there any way that this task could work for me?

and second, is Will Grayson, Will Grayson OK for gay character? It's not explicit in the blurb, but is a GLBT genre book, plus the following quote, from the author's site (http://johngreenbooks.com/will-grayson/) "Will Grayson, Will Grayson debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list for children’s chapter books, the first book starring gay characters ever to appear on the list."
On which note, if it meet's the "gay character" test, can you confirm absence of "Children" genre too?!
Thank you!

Hi Andy,
Yeah some of them I have to look at next to something else. That definitely looks red to me though! You're good to go. :)

Thank you."
Hi Kim,
It's not enough red to qualify it for option #2 (though that is a pretty cover!), but it definitely qualifies for option #6 since she was a princess and then Empress/Queen.

Thank you."

Thanks. Option six will do. I only need it to work for one option. :)

Freak Show for option 3 - gay character"
Hi BC,
Camel Bookmobile - Approved for 'books about books'.
Freak Show - Approved for gblt. A librarian friend reviewed this awhile back and gave it 4 stars, so hopefully you enjoy it if you end up reading it. :) I knew I'd seen it around before.
As for your other question, Option 4 wouldn't work for you since your TBR is housed elsewhere just for the sake of verification, etc. That's why I decided to leave the options up to the reader instead of leaving it to chance.
But I applaud you for spreadsheeting....I think if I tried with my TBR my brain would explode. ;)

Hi Catherine,
Lost in a Good Book -- 'books about books' verified.
Will Grayson, Will Grayson -- 'gblt' verified. (The genre is good enough as an indication.) And also verified as no 'Children's'. Though if it does end up with 'Children's' that's okay for this task AND it's classified as UG on AR Bookfinder so you're covered all around. :)

Hi Victoria,
Looks red enough to me :) It's so hard to tell sometimes. Earlier I was on my work computer and my monitor there is a dinosaur, so I was relieved to see things still looked the same here at home on my desktop. ;)

Thanks."
Hi Teri-k,
While that is red, it looks a bit more like 40-50% to me. (Though I am curious about that series since I enjoy the Stephanie Plum books.) So I'd have to say no for that one.

((*whispers* Your task is great, I'm really proud of you for finishing, holding it down for the team, etc etc. Good job <3))

option 2

option 5

Hi Aleksandra,
Headhunters is approved for option 2.
I can see why Doctor Proctor's might make your guilty pleasure list! It looks cute. The only issue is that it doesn't meet SRC guidelines for children's books -- AR bookfinder lists it as: "IL: MG - BL: 5.2 - AR Pts: 5.0". AR Pts need to be at least 7 for SRC books. So unfortunately, I can't approve that one. Sorry! You can check any children's books here. I keep it open half the time while I look for books, because I read a lot of YA.

I keep 2 TBR lists - one is my overall massive one; the other is my more tailored for the year...can I use the second one for this?

Thank you Morgan, I got many guilty pleasures so I will look for something different. :)

But you can text me for approvals too. ;) It's a super personalized experience for my BFF/partner in crime. lol. Thanks! You're my biggest cheerleader and my task approver.

I keep 2 TBR lists - one is my overall massive one; the other is my more tailored for the year...can I use the second one for this?"
Hi Dee,
Are both on goodreads? The spirit of option 4 is to pull from the very back of your list, so the massive one.
But I'm guessing that might you pull from the massive one to create the more tailored list, so potentially one fitting the task could already be present on the smaller list.
(If the smaller yearly one is the only one that you house on goodreads, then that would be the list you would choose from.)
Hope that helps or at least provides an answer of some sort.

Most of the physical books I have that I am trying to fit in SRC challenges are ones that belonged to my Uncle when he passed away. He not only collected them for himself and his family (he was an enabler of my reading habit for years), but also to sell. We still haven't been able to go through all of them, but just keep dividing them up between us a box or two at a time.
When he was alive we watched everything from cartoons to home & garden and read everything that piqued our interest, so books with the main page genre “Children’s” & “Sequential Art” ARE ALLOWED to be used for this task as long as they also fit all other SRC Requirements.
Choose TWO different options below and read TWO books. Books should be at least 250 pages each.
NOTE: ebooks without print versions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. If you read an ebook or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.
REQUIRED: When posting, please list the options that you chose.
Option 1 :: I HEARD YOU LIKE BOOKS :: He worked in a bookstore and had every wall in his home office covered with stacks and stacks of books (on shelves every which way they could fit!), so he was perpetually surrounded by books. Read a book with the main page genre “Books about Books”.
Option 2 :: RED ALL OVER :: World AIDS Day is December 1st, and AIDS is the reason my Uncle is no longer with us. To remember all of all those who have died from or currently live with AIDS/HIV, read a book that has a cover that is at least 75% red.
REQUIRED: Include the cover when posting.
Option 3 :: DOUBLE RAINBOW :: Read a book about a main character who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. It should be clear from the main page description or genres.
Option 4 :: AN OLDIE, BUT HOPEFULLY A GOODIE :: He was always seeking out older books to read, pass along or resell. Go to your to-read shelf. Look at the 10 books that have been sitting on there the longest. Choose one of them to read.
REQUIRED: Include the date the book was added to your to-read shelf AND the date that you joined Goodreads (month/year) when posting. The month and year that you joined Goodreads can be found on your profile page beside "activity."
Option 5 :: GUILTY PLEASURES :: Read one of your guilty pleasure type books. They don’t have to be trashy romance or erotica...but it’s okay if they are. Maybe you don't want people to know you read an excessive amount of YA. Anything that might make you wish it was on your e-reader so no one could tell what you’re reading would qualify here.
Option 6 :: AS YOU WISH :: One of the last things that I watched with my Uncle was the movie The Princess Bride. It was one of his favorites as well as mine. Read a book in which royalty (defined for this task as: prince, queen, king, or princess) or pirates (or both!) play a significant role. This should be clear in the book’s main page description and/or in reviews on the main page. Required: If the role of royals or pirates is not obvious from the book's description, explain how the book fits the task.
