Thanks! I hope the rest of the prompts are as easy to fit Poirot into. My goal is to read one a month next year. I have quite a few options for this one prompt.

Linda wrote: "I went to the library yesterday and grabbed both The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Murder on the Orient Express."

Excellent choices! I read both last year and gave both 5 stars.

We will have to use the little grey cells.

Lindsay | 13 comments I was thinking of reading The Way of Kings for this one.

message 54: by Tobey (new)

Tobey | 3 comments So as mentioned most Fantasy would work and you could really get two prompts easily. For sure most Robin Hobb books would work but she also works for "author for flora/fauna in their name" I can't confirm that there are maps in her Assassin's books as I've read them (highly, highly recommend them to any fantasy fans) but I've tentatively earmarked Ship of Magic for that prompt but it does have a map in it. Book 2 of the series could work for the other prompt or vice versa.

Also for Louise Penny fans, I happened to be in the bookstore today and A Fatal Grace happens to have a map in it (yes, I just started the highly popular series) and I bet most of the other books do too!

message 55: by Spring (new)

Spring Ackerman-Altman At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon has a map of the Town of Mitford in the opening pages

message 56: by Laura (new)

Laura Miles | 244 comments I've been off GR for a while and just now catching up on the category sneak peeks. So excited for this one as it was one of my suggestions! I thought of this because maps are one of my biggest inspirations as an artist. I've always been fascinated by the intricate patterns of the earth, both natural and man-made. Any Instagrammers out there, I love the account dailyoverview. Anytime I'm reading a book with a map it seems like I spend just as much time studying the map as I do reading!

Happy mapping!

Does anyone know if these books have a map:
Muse of Nightmares
or
Sea Glass

I suspect they do but I cannot find confirmation. And I want to read them ;-)

No map in Muse of Nightmares, it has a strange diagram instead.

And a map in Murder at the Vicarage
Not a Poirot, but Miss Marple is great too!

I got a lot out of that book, and it does have a map. But I was super disappointed that *the* map is not included in the book.

Dani Weyand | 388 comments I think Wildwood had a nap but I’ll have to double check. Those books are delightful, and I need to read the third one so hopefully that works!

A Feast for Crows"

I just started A Clash of Kings myself, so I'm sure I'll still be reading the series by the time 2020 gets here. I'm thinking these books would be good for both this prompt, and "a book with an author with flora or fauna in their name."

message 68: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (jenntendo64) | 56 comments Children of Blood and Bone had a map, so I'm guess Children of Virtue and Vengeance does too...

message 69: by Lauconn (new)

Lauconn | 33 comments For urban fantasy/romance peeps, Patricia Briggs has maps in the beginning of her Mercy Thompson books, which are tons of fun. The first in the series is Moon Called.

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments Metro 2033 does sound really good. Too bad it's only available digitally in German. I will have to see if my library has a physical copy.

message 76: by Rachael (last edited Nov 23, 2019 06:48PM) (new)

Rachael | 136 comments I've been meaning to reread Pawn of Prophecy for a long time, possibly my favourite fantasy book series. All the books fit for this prompt, if it wasn't for the fact I don't want 10 of these prompts to be filled by re-reads, I would genuinely find a way to make all 10 books fit into one year.

Eragon and its sequels would also fit for this

message 77: by Joann (new)

Joann | 2 comments I’ve been trying to find a prompt to suit the book I want to read https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... and I think this one fits the bill.

message 78: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Raquet (rackett534) | 67 comments Does anyone know if Journey To The Center Of The Earth or Around The World In Eighty Days (Jules Verne) have maps? They are on my TBR but I don't have categories for either yet, and I don't own them so I'm not sure they will fit this one!

Journey to the Center of the Earth begins with Professor Liedenbrock obtaining a map which they follow, so it could work.

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments I'm not a big fantasy reader, so had to take to my bookshelf and flick through some likely looking suspects. Thankfully it didn't take me long - With Their Backs to the World: Portraits from Serbia which will suit this prompt (and no doubt help my reading experience too!).

message 89: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 34 comments Most of the books in the Cadfael mystery series by Ellis Peters have maps in them.

Come, Tell Me How you Lived, a memoir by Agatha Christie has maps in it.

A lot of Sherlock Holmes stories also have maps, such as Hound of the Baskervilles

message 91: by Karin (new)

Karin I am definitely going with Blue Mars since I'd like to finish this trilogy even though the first two books were both 3 stars for me. They all have at least one map each.

Juniper (jooniperd) i've already read these, but thought i'd share two nonfiction suggestions that would work well here:

City of Thorns: Nine Lives in the World's Largest Refugee Camp, by ben rawlence
Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War, by karen abbott (SO GOOD!!)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments Hungry Hearts: 13 Tales of Food & Love comes with a neighborhood map, much to my surprise and delight. I was going to read it as an anthology book, so it makes for a good double dip (more than 20 characters in the title, too).
