15.1 Returns and Exchanges
Read TWO books, one from Book 1 and one from Book 2.

Book 1 - Choose a book that you have read and rated 4 or 5 stars. Read a different book by the same author. The book may be an anthology or collection with multiple authors.
AND
Book 2 - Choose a book that you read and rated 4 or 5 stars. From that book’s main page navigate to "Readers Also Enjoyed" (usually the upper right, click on the heading to see the list format) and read a book from that list

Notes: You may use the same or different books as your starting point for each option.
Books must reach a GR-determined number of ratings to display the Readers Also Enjoyed recommendations. If the feature doesn't display select another starting point book.

Required: Identify the books that inspired your choices. Include the links Note the date you found your book and include it when you post since the list can change

Tara | 391 comments Question for this one...for the Book 2, will that book have to be 'verified' like genres do? I don't know how often these recommendations change, so if we pick a book that is there now as a recommendation, please confirm if it needs verification in case it changes. Thanks!

These don't change as often- maybe when a book is very new it could. Stating that it was there when you selected the book will be enough, but we will watch it until tasks are finalized on Dec 12.

Julia (julia103) | 2718 comments Another general question: For Book 2, if one of the recommendations in Readers Also Enjoyed is in a different language, is it ok to choose the edition that is a translation?
Example: Among the recommendations from Winter of the World is Dime quién soy which is in Spanish. The English edition is Tell me who I am which isn't on the page with the Ken Follett book.

Yes, that works as long as the editions are combined on GR as editions of the same work. Please point it out when you post

Nicole | 1295 comments When you say collections are okay for book one do you mean the following scenario would work: I have rated Rainbow Rowell's books 4s and 5s. Could I read a collection that includes a short story by her to satisfy this part of the task?

Yes, your scenario would work (as long as the resulting book firs SRC rules) A collection or anthology that includes the author would work for your starting point book or your book 1 or book 2.

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1281 comments I was updating my spreadsheet this evening and the book I had selected for Book 2 is no longer showing on the list of recommended books.

I started with: Handle with Care and on 11/14 afternoon I selected Marshmallows for Breakfast. Neither of these books are new.

Will this combo still work? I can find something else if it doesn't work.

It will still work. Note the date that you found the book and include it when you post.

Tara | 391 comments For Book 2, if the recommended book is one from a series (#2), but I've not read #1, can I read #1 instead?

Thank you...

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Book 1 - Tick Tock - James Patterson = I read and gave 5 stars to The 6th Target.

Book 2 - A Dog Named Slugger - Leigh Brill = I read Endal: How One Extraordinary Dog Brought a Family Back from the Brink - Allen Parton (18/11/14)

Is this how it's meant to be x

Hina (hinaj) | 677 comments Did I do this right?

I read An Accidental Birthright by Maisey Yates and gave it 4 Stars.

Book 1: Heir to a Desert Legacy by Maisey Yates.

Book 2: His Unknown Heir by Chantelle Shaw. I used the same book as above for Readers Also Enjoyed today 12/1.

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments For the originating book - can it be an anthology and then read a book by one contributing author? I read as the reverse is ok

either way works, start with an 4+* anthology and read one of the authors or start with a 4+* book and read an anthology that that author has contributed to

message 23: by Julia (new)

Julia (julia103) | 2718 comments I just found that the list of books that comes up by clicking on the Readers Also Enjoyed header isn't the same as the books showing by scrolling through the covers under that header. Is it ok to use one that is under the header on the original book page but not in the list view?

Specifically, using Code Name Verity as the starting point, the ninth cover showing is for Flygirl after Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous Weapon and before The Brides of Rollrock Island, but in the list view The Brides of Rollrock Island is eleventh, Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous Weapon is 20th and Flygirl (which I had planned to use) doesn't show up at all.

Just make a note now and include the date and place you found your book (either place works) when you post

Katherine (DirectorKat) (directorkat) | 61 comments Can you read a book that you have already read for the first part? Most of my 4 or 5 star authors I have found and read most if not all of their stuff already.

message 30: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Any chance of using known pseudonyms for this Option 1 ?. in particular JK Rowling to Robert Galbraith . The author profile in goodreads lists robert as her.

Thanks and really not trying to be pedantic, just trying to squeeze in books I want to read into tasks.
