I'm thinking of using The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires or The Ten Thousand Doors of January.
I don't really put stuff on my TBR randomly, so that made this prompt rather tricky for me. What I think I'll do instead is re-read a book that I originally read on a whim (Over Sea, Under Stone) as I honestly can't think of anything else.
Oh wow, so I have 136 unread books on my shelves (down from around 300 since my purchasing ban and a few years of reading challenges), 72 unread books on my Kindle, and 2 unread audiobooks. There are a lot of options there! So I'm going to limit myself to a long list of 5 (mainly so I don't need to add all the random free Kindle books I added way back when I got my first device!).Other People
The Murmur of Bees
The Rowan Tree
The State We're In
The Thing About Clare

I *usually* only add a book to my Goodreads TBR shelf if I own it. My Overdrive wishlist on the other hand...where do all these books come from? What was I thinking when I added them, or what kind of (expired) research kick was I on? I...honestly don't remember why some of these are here, so yay!The Dud Avocado
Diary of an Oxygen Thief
Flowers of Mold
Great Granny Webster
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Rainbirds
Fugitive Pieces
The Anatomy of Ghosts
Home Fire

Nadine wrote: "The Ghost & Mrs Muir was SO GOOD. Maybe you saw me raving about it and added it :-)"That's definitely possible! It's been on my Overdrive WL for at maybe a year now and I have no recollection of what caused me to place it there! It does look fun, haha (and i never did see the film/show either)
Stumbled on this one and forgot about putting it on my list, but now re-reading the blurb I'm definitely intrigued!
Though if I can't figure out a place to slot this one, I might read two for it( <.<;; )
I don't add books to my TBR but years ago I spent the summer with a friend and we played Rainbow Six on her PlayStation. a few months later I found out the Tom Clancy games were based on books and told myself I wanted to read them and then I forgot.I stumbled upon Rainbow Six a few months ago and recalled wanting to read these books so I bought it and that is the book I'm going to read for this topic.
1. What are you reading for this category? Finding Jake2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? 2015
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?Yes, there are a bunch I add after reading an article about lesser known books that you should read. So I add them to my tbr and there they sit. Last year I combed through a bunch and deleted ones that I felt I wasn't going to read. I may go through and do that again. One of my goals this year is to get most of the top 20 off of my tbr list. Finding Jake was in my top 20. I've already read two others that were on my top 20 so far this year. My first one on the list now is The Help which I have slated to read in the book title beginning with The and only one other word. My top 20 should be whittled down pretty good this year.
I read The Thing About Jellyfish. I apparently put this on my TBR in the last year but I have no knowledge of it. I am working towards becoming a middle school English teacher so I add middle grade that I think I could use later on and that is probably why it ended up there.
1. What are you reading for this category? The Better Sister
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
I don't know, for too long.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
I had a LOT of options. I have a tendency of just rampage adding books and forgetting about them.
I found The Mask of Ra in my house. I might have gotten it at the library book sale, but I had no memory of it and no idea how long it had been here. It was bad, so bad, the victim of its own misogyny and ethnocentrism. It's in the charity bin now with a warning on a sticky note inside the front cover.
1. What are you reading for this category?Permanent Record by Edward Snowden
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
Since September.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
Too many books.
1)The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein2)I forgot to check the date before marking it as currently reading but I believe 2012. I added a lot of books to my tbr that year. I have over 2000 books on my tbr and I'm pretty sure most of them were added that year.
3)I'm sure. lol I just stopped at the first one I didn't remember bc I didn't want to scroll through all those books.
What are you reading for this category? Watch Your Mouth by Daniel HandlerHow long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? Since August 2015.
Did you have very many options for this prompt? Just a few. This one's actually my second choice, since the book I really wanted to read, Klaus Kinski's All I Need is Love, is MIA. Waaah!
What are you reading for this category?
How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? Since Aug 2015
Did you have very many options for this prompt? More than a few
1. What are you reading for this category? The Collector
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
I'm actually not sure. Ha! I tend to purchase all of Nora Roberts books and then I create a backlog.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
oh yes, my TBR list is always growing.
I found on my bookshelf Charles Jessold, Considered As A Murderer. I have absolutely no memory of where I got it, must have been a thrift shop or library sale. I assume I chose it because the blurbs on the back say it is "brilliant", "original". "intellectual thriller", "wittily erudite". It does have an unusual format, in that the story seems finished halfway through and then takes a surprising turn.
I read Iced in Paradise by Naomi Hirahari, a cozy mystery set in Hawaii. I added this book on a whim after I had seen it at my library.
1. What are you reading for this category? In a Field of Blue by Gemma Liviero.2. How long has the book been on you TBR/wishlist? 1/14/2020
3. Did you have many options. This is the only book I really was surprised to see in my kindle library. I had no idea I bought it. There are 2 other books that have been in my library for years. I remember buying them but now I wonder why.
1. What are you reading for this category? The Thief of Always2. How long has the book been on you TBR/wishlist? 5/15/2017
3. Did you have many options? Not as many as I thought. I guess I go over my list often enough that I remember most of them.
36. A Book from Your TBR/Wishlist that You Don't Recognize, Recall Putting There, or Put There on a Whim: You Had Me at Woof by Julie Klam.I'll be honest it's on there as there's a cute dog on the cover. I wasn't a huge fan of this book, I finished it this week and rated it 2.5 stars.
1. What are you reading for this category? Gone to Darkness2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? No to long.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt? Yes, I added a bunch of books from giveaways and I don't remember a lot of them after some time goes by

I'm intentional about my TBR, but also running low on possible ATY topics to choose from. Your idea is a good workaround
I read Come Dancing by Leslie WellsIt’s only been on my TBR list since January 2020, but I don’t remember why I put it there. I’m not usually a fan of Celebrity/Normal person romances. I might have added it since the heroine is in book publishing, and that character was definitely more appealing than the hard rock star hero
I had lots of options for this prompt. I add a lot of Kindle freebies.
1. What are you reading for this category? Doll House2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? Feb 21, 2017
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt? I had a few, this was short so was hoping I could finish it quickly for the read-a-thon but it was dreadful so it was hard to get through.
I found O'er The River Liffey byHeidi Ashworth on my TBR list. It's probably been there for several years, and of course I had a huge selection of books for this prompt, lol.
Optional Questions:1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone
2. four months maybe
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
not really i tend to keep my TBR tight and compact I have a one-day shelf for those things i am recommended or take my fancy and only put on my TBR books that i really want to read
I will be reading The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry. It has been on my list for 7 years. I have over 300 books on my TBR list so I would imagine there would be plenty for this prompt.
So today I discovered that I put Axiom's End on hold in the library. I do not recall doing this. It is a completely new book. It looks interesting to me, so I must have good taste or something. As I have deleted my tbr and only have books on it I really want to read, this is as close as I am going to get for this one.
I read Emily Carr, Klee Wyck for this prompt. Gorgeous, gorgeous writing, as precise and absorbing as her paintings. It's only been on my TBR for a few months. Did I have many to choose from for this prompt? Absolutely yes!
1. What are you reading for this category? Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist? Feb. 2019
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt? I have 235 books on my to read list and most were put there based on a prompt from a challenge or because someone recommended it and I was interested. There were very few on my list that I don't remember putting there.
1. What are you reading for this category?I read Murder on Bainbridge Island by Dianne Harman
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
Not long. January 2019 was when I purchased it.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
Only one: to start a new series. It quickly became a non-starter.
I ended up reading Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold by Ellen O'Connell for this prompt.I was having a hard time deciding what to read for this because I try to be deliberate in what I add to my tbr, but this was a book that a Goodreads friend sent me when we were doing a team challenge together. I can't remember why exactly. I added it in July 2016.
For this prompt, I read The Silk Road by Kathryn Davis. It was a forgotten lagniappe that I received with a book order long ago. I am sure that I have several more of these gifts floating around here that could fulfill this task!
What are you reading for this category?I read The Sins of the Fathers by Lawrence Block
How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
It had been on the list since March 2012
Did you have very many options for this prompt?
Yes. Loads, but the looking back over the list has now made me want to back and find more forgotten books.
I read Calling Me Home. It was on my Litsy TBR, not Goodreads, so I'm not sure how long it had been there. I just scrolled through my Litsy TBR until I came to one that I couldn't remember why I had added it.The book is partially set in the area where I live, so I may have added it for that or (more likely) I added it because it has an older protagonist, which is one of my favorite things in books. I really enjoyed it, so I'm glad I listened to it for this challenge.
I did not have many choices for this--usually I can remember pretty well why I added a book.
This was the last prompt I needed to finish the 2020 challenge wooo!
1. What are you reading for this category?I read SeinLanguage.
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
Years. This book was obtained some time during my first marriage and I divorced him 5 years ago. If it was his, then I've had it over 20 years!
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
There are a few that I'm not sure where I bought them, but not many.
What are you reading for this category? The Bookshop of Yesterdays, by Amy Meyerson

1. What are you reading for this category?I read Tyler Johnson Was Here
2. How long has the book been on your TBR/wishlist?
It was on my TBR since February, 2018.
3. Did you have very many options for this prompt?
There were a few others but this was the one that interested me the most at the moment. It was a timely read as well, since the premise is police brutality in a mainly Black/minority community.
I really loved this prompt! I have tons of books on my TBR that I don't recognize and one of my goals is definitely to actually read them (or remove them from the list, but I'm historically very bad at that). I chose Smilla's Sense of Snow, which I added in 2017 but have no idea why: I don't remember ever hearing of it before and its a mystery/thriller, which is not my usual genre. But I was intrigued to pick it up, because it's translated from Danish (I'm always interested in translations and I've never read anything Danish before). I had mixed feelings about it, but I'm glad I read it - it was surprisingly fun to read and try and guess what I might have heard about it that would have made me add it to the list!

Because this is a highly personal prompt, it's hard to give suggestions. Simply go to your list and scroll through the books. Don't recognize a book? There you go!
