Brandon Jones Just finished Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie. Enjoyed it quite a bit, was kind of an Oceans Eleven with murder instead of burglary to me. In no way am I prude but could have dealt with less detail in two of the scenes though. Not sure what to move onto yet, may switch genres and read a western for a little break, we'll see.

Ellen | 14 comments I've been slogging through Shadow & Claw all month, which is completely unexpected. I was not imagining it to be so literary. Reminds me of how Steven Erikson writes.

J.W. Kent (jwkent) | 14 comments I am in the middle of "The Bone Rattler," but have been slacking in my reading... very busy here lately.

I started and abandoned book two months ago. I read a little this week purely to avoid Schindler's Ark, which I really don't like.

Lára | 479 comments Of all the books I've been reading, only White Beech: The Rainforest Years and Prince of Fools had been left. Not enough to keep me in the mood of reading, so I was stuck for a while.

Today, for the 1st time, I started The Silmarillion and it's such an enjoying read!

message 106: by Eliabeth (new)

Eliabeth Hawthorne (eliahawthorne) Helen wrote: "I'm on one of those, I've 6 letters left. Bet you can guess a few!"

Are any of them giving you trouble? I started Upton Sinclair in January and still trying to get through The Jungle.

Just finished Patrick Ness and now desperately want to read something in the fantasy genre. Haven't liked the last few books I picked up simply because of the author's name.

message 107: by Frank (new)

Frank Finishing up, City of Stairs, just started The Crown Tower, and in the midst of Falling Sky.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finished Crossover. Pretty good sci-fi action. Loved the main character, but confusing politics.

Going to read a couple short non-fiction books and then start A Feast for Crows.

Alissa | 220 comments Now reading The Long Sword by Christian Cameron, great historical fiction. Then I've read Kingslayer, Doomsday Book and the beautiful Rogues anthology.

message 112: by Jasprit (new)

Jasprit (jas4u) I just finished reading Deathstalker and started Trapped by Kevin Hearne. I almost gave up on Deathstalker half a dozen time. It started off fun and intriguing but it became stale really quickly. I understand now why so many people hate on this series.

I had felt like reading some scifi and read this. Bad choice! That's what I get for straying from fantasy.

I gotta say that after reading Deathstalker I'm really happy to be reading something that's well written. The first few pages of Trapped were fantastic and as I read I thought to myself, "This is what a good book should be like! Damn that last book was boring."

If anyone could recommend, for a fantasy reader. a good scifi seriee plz msg me.

Was that the Simon R. Green Deathstalker series? Yeah, I like most of his work, but bogged down in that series somewhere in the third or fourth book, I think.

Have you tried Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey?

Kaci (kachill) | 11 comments I finished Eye of the World and am about a third through The Great Hunt.

Jasprit (jas4u) Hey Joseph. That's exactly the one!!! Maybe my expectations were too high and that's why I didn't enjoy it very much. Anyways, I'm definitely gonna check out Leviathan Wakes. Thanks for the recommendation.
