Finishing a re-read of the "uncut" version of The Stand. Just started Blackbirds (by Chuck Wendig) and The Magician's Land (by Lev Grossman).

I probably won't read as much this month since this will be the first time I ever attempt the NANO thingamajig.

For some reason I've started this pattern where I read three different books at one time. So for this go around I'm reading the Dragonbone chair as a paper copy, the blade itself as an audiobook and whitefire crossing as my e-reader book. I just finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline a few days ago. Probably the geekiest book I've ever read but also one of the best books I've read in a long time. I highly recommend it! (And I'm not a gamer at all and missed the majority of the references and I still loved it!)

I'm reading the Lies of Locke Lamora. Depends on how it goes I'll read book 2 after that.

I'm on the last 100 pages of the Dark Tower. After that I have an Abraham book, can't remember the name and who knows what else will grab me.

Don't know if this counts but I just started a kindle book on MARVEL's beginnings and just finished As You Wish - Cary Elwes' memoir on the making of The Princess Bride. Other than that, kinda waiting for my copy of the graphic omnibus of Marvel's Original Sin

i just finished A tale for the time being by R Okri. Very drawn out, yawn.

Ready Player One is fantastic and my 11 year old book nerd of a daughter has read it several times.

A little over a quarter of the way through Crossover, but it's shaping up to be a good read, and I've also still got The Farseekers on my Kindle.

I'm going on vacation next week, so I'm planning on bringing a couple lighter reads along with my current read. Not sure I'll get around to them by the end of the trip, but they are on the trajectory for this month.

Recently finished up a handful of the books I've been reading. First was Yesterday's Kin by Nancy Kress, which I absolutely loved. Short novella that makes me feel like shit for being a human.Here's that review

And then I dived into The Crimson Campaign by Brian McClellan, which really is a better book than the first in the series. Still not crazy about those books in general, but I definitely enjoyed TCC. Enough to grab The Autumn Republic on release day when it hits. My review.

And I literally just finished Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, the very last of the Cosmere backlist I had to go through. I definitely didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I'm not a high fantasy guy, and it's solidly high fantasy. Here's that review

Finished Dark Tower, shocked myself when I began crying. I've started A Shadow in Summer, it's totally different and had me thinking 'huh?' But I'm really liking it now.

I was reading A Wizard of Earthsea, but stopped at Tehanu and now picking up The Slow Regard of Silent Things. It's a short read, wondering if anyone else is reading it?

I'm about half way through. It's certainly not a traditional book by any means, and you can see how it developed out of a short story. I'm finding seeing the world through Auri's eyes, her idiosyncrasies for want of a better word, fascinating.

Yeah I noticed, I read the first couple of pages and now looking for 'no-spoiler' reviews on GR. Seems to be very different than the other two. I'm hoping to finish it by today and review it later on tonight. I have to admit, I don't remember this firefly... Has it been too long?

I really liked it, it's the kind of series where it's impossible to put down. I thought he was an exceptional writer, and the idea behind the poet and andat: very new and refreshing. The first isn't my favourite, although good. I really liked the 2nd and 4th in the series.

I saw Slow Regard and got excited that it was Kingkiller 3...alas, I guess not. Rothfuss is generally pretty quiet about when to expect his books, and I've been out of touch lately. This one is about the girl that lives underground?

Oh, and by the way--I'm just getting started on The Black Prism. Not bad, so far. It's definitely different from your standard fare so far, but I'm only a few chapters in.

Two very different reads to start the month. Nothing like a good historical murder mystery: Absolution by Murder. And, in the spirit of the upcoming season, L. Frank Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.

A third read this month (when the library has an available copy) is The Name of the Wind.

I finished it. And I really liked it.... I'm not surprised I did. I also mentioned in my review how I'm sure Hobb fans would definitely enjoy it.

I'm planning to start A Way with Kings for Sanderson, but I will definitely join in the discussions for Abraham's Long Price Quartet..

I'm finishing up reading The Host and continuing A Game of Thrones. When I'm done I'll pick up A Clash of Kings.

I think I'll try Slow Regard soon, then. And The Way of Kings is awesome if you love epic fantasy. It's long, but very detailed and different. I loved it, and Words of Radiance was good, too.

To the reader of Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams: Good luck. I slogged through that series many years ago, and was by turns startled, amazed, puzzled, bored, and finally just disgusted.

Grass for His Pillow. That follows The Nightingale Floor or some title like that? It was a good read, but different from the 1st book

Currently I'm enthralled with Water Logic by Laurie J Marks. I was reading The Bonehunters by Steven Erickson and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo (for botm), but I got so sidetracked by Marks' Elemental Logic series that I stalled all the other books.

I'm with you Helen, after i finished Dark Tower after such a long journey i think i just sat there for a good half hour devastated by the end but also delighted :S
I don't know how that works but there you go.

I finished the Dark Tower series earlier this year. I was a bit teary at the end also. It was such an emotional journey. I think I spent several days processing it. Loved it overall.

Currently reading King of Thorns, which is a very different kind of emotional experience.

I have to be honest, I quit the Dark Tower after Wolves of the Calla. I was really sad about it, too--the series was so good up to that point for me. Wizard and Glass is still one of my favorite books written by him, but without revealing any spoilers I just couldn't stand what he pulled at the end of WotC. It was fine when it was subtle, but bringing it out to the open the way he did soured the story for me. Did I leave off too early?

I know exactly what you mean but despite that and the excessive bad language, imo, I really enjoyed the last three. I didn't realise I was so invested til the tears started. The end was annoying but as others have said, I ended up thinking that it was right.

Whooshed through first two books of Long Knife series, it wasn't my fault they were both in one publication. Stopped myself going on, don't think I'll be able to wait until January, sorry Maggie.
Off genre, just started Schindler's Ark. Not enjoying it so far, reads too much like non fiction.

Just finished listening to Assassin's Apprentice and reading Blood Song. Even though they are very different types of fantasies, it would sometimes take me a minute or two to remember which world I was in. Both of them were really good!

I finished reading a day or two ago The Shadow Throne and with it the Ascendance Trilogy. It was a nice read, fun and witty but infuriating and predictable at times.
Now i'm starting The Poison Throne. Looks good so far.
