Yeah, well, my friends "of color" aren't really "readers", that is not indicative of anything...it just happens that they are not, like many of my more pastey friends. The one friend in the real world I tried to get to come on here (Dash did it of his own accord) never posted a pick, put on a couple dozen books and then buggered off. That's no fun, so I gave up. I'd rather just hang with the folks who enjoy the site and interact. I can talk to the others as easily as picking up the phone!

Alfonso honey, you've never put an actual picture of yourself on here, Maurice doesn't know that you're not one of the "brotherhood" for pete's sake! Your kitty pics don't really suggest "strappin latino 20-something"...
i vote for a cereluen blue and magenta lines
wait a minute?
isn't it the white rasta from vermont jonesin for some color

dont get me wrong this dosent offend me but is just idk ya'll white ppl be weird...
I don't care what race you are, or anyone else for that matter...it seems to matter to Maurice. I think he needs some ethnicity around him or something.
I was just explaining.
I was just explaining.

I noticed one of the Groups on Goodreads was predominantly black. I wondered if that was on purpose or if that group formed spontaneously. Do we naturally gravitate towards people with whom we have the most in common? Do non-white people look at our mostly-white groups and think... damn, those people are so white, I'll be over here.
Well, so much for today's honorary 'I hate the Irish' thread.

I just heard from a friend (English) who is abroad (Bangladesh) that their friend (American) is throwing a St Paddys day party but they cant find any Guinness. :)
I know what ye are saying KD. I also understand where Alfonso is coming from. I recall a class i was in once and we were discussing race in terms of sociology. I (white) was trying to explain to my tutor (Indian) that i didnt see people in terms of colour... that i was to a large extent racially colour blind. I saw this as a positive thing. My tutor didnt and claimed that i SHOULD see someone in terms of their race...
I get what she was saying but i think the main issue is perspective. Having lived in Africa for a number of years and generally been exposed to a lot of multi-culturalism I truly did not see a black or white man (not consciously) but rather a local or someone of such and such a tribe etc.
My tutor however was so conscious of her racial/cultural heritage in a majority white/anglo-saxon area that she saw most things with colour, including people responding or interacting with her.

That's the spirit Alfonso, let's all have a drink on it!
Sweet, I'll have a girlie drink though thanks. (heaves a little thinking of drinking JD!)

( I start screaming that when I'm drunk on Jack...) you know i still have the firts bottle of jack i ever drank, amy?
Revolting...it was always my father's favorite, he called it "mother's milk". I buy a bottle for my step dad for Christmas every year, he calls it "nectar of the gods". It activates my gag reflex...

oh my lord... the best whiskey on the planet... tastes like rich earth and goes down with a bite... makes you see the ancestors and communicate with owls. dude... fer serious.
