Review:
Well this was a very interesting take on angels. Neat world building, neat characters, cool setting, the whole book worked. My only complaint is what the H.E. double hockey sticks kind of ending was that! I'm very glad book 2 is out because that left me wanting (obviously)! I've put off reading this book because a lot of times when I've enjoyed a series that's ended by an author I'm overly critical of a new one. Well let me tell you my friends that was silly and unwarranted. I may have actually preferred this to her Elemental books. I'll be reading book 2 very soon needless to say.

A Virgin River Christmas by Robyn Carr borrowed from library
11/22/14
★★★★
I LOOOOVE a good Christmas novel and this one didn't disappoint. I haven't read this series before, but it wasn't too hard to pick up and fall into the world of Virgin River. Marcie's husband died on year prior to the start of the story, which was three years after being injured in battle while serving as a Marine in Iraq. She has decided to seek out Ian, the Marine that rescued her husband, but soon after leaving the Marine's disappeared from civilization. Ian felt like he had let Marcie's husband down, bringing him home only to live in a broken body and felt like a failure. After a month of searching, Marcie finds Ian living outside of Virgin River, in a one room cabin with no heat, electricity or indoor plumbing. Marcie is too stubborn to leave and not find the closure she needs from Ian. After realizing that Marcie is very sick with the flu, Ian was willing to put up with her presence in his hermit lifestyle. As the Christmas holiday approaches, the two work through some of the challenges they have faced over the last four years. It was a sweet book that was a bit of a tearjerker at times for me, but that isn't saying a lot. It was a great start to my Christmas reading season.

Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich EvanoviCH
A gift from my sweet sister

Review:
My name is Lizzy Tucker, and I used to think I was normal.
The second book in the Wicked series. Lizzy and Diesel are on the trail of another SALIGIA stone. The stones are the keys to the seven deadly sins and this time out it is the stone for lust.
The characters in this book crack me up. I often want to go on an adventure with them...other than things involving small spaces. Carl the monkey is one of my favorites! I am a little scared of monkeys but I think I could live with Carl. Wulf is back as Diesel's nemesis. His Renaissance costume wearing henchman, Hatchet is hysterical. Glo carries a broom with her that she thinks is enchanted and muddles her way through odd spells.
I never tire of Evanovich novels. There is always something that makes me laugh and brightens my day. I look forward to the next one.

Kess went from sleep to waking immediately, eyelids flying open and eyes already searching the room for danger.
Kestral "Kess" Saleh is a wereleopard on the run from her family. Her brother, Sek, has a twisted idea to preserve the clan that involves mating with her. Kess ends up in a small town in the North Carolina mountains where she begins to feel safe. Unknown to Kess, the town is home to a werewolf pack. The McNeils have a strong presence in the town and strive to keep order. Of course, Kess becomes involved with Cormac, the son of the local Alpha.
I enjoyed this book. The relationship between Kess and Cormac was slow and steady. It was not something that was rushed/ I appreciated that aspect. Cormac's cousins were a good balance to his more laid back personality. The inevitable showdown between Sek and Kess is well done. I look forward to reading more in the series.

How to Seduce a Vampire (Without Really Trying) by Kerrelyn Sparks, L ove at Stake series bought with gift card
11/23/14
★★★★
So, I have a few series that I read that I don't expect earth shattering greatness, just good entertaining fun. At book fifteen, this is one of those. After almost 800 years of living as a vampire, Zoltan is growing bored with his existence. Neona is living in Tibet as a warrior princess guarding a secret that Master Han is determined to find. As the good vamps learn of the long held secrets of these warrior women in order to help protect them from Master Han and his army of modified soldiers, Neona must decide if she wants to forget centuries of instilled distrust of men to place trust in Zoltan. This book is just a good fun read, something I know I can rely on when I pick it up.

Review:well. i knew this book was geared more towards little kids, and you can for sure tell as you read it. i was hoping for some awesome things to happen, and nothing did. this book had a lot of good lessons to teach little kids. it was just event less and boring to me. i'm gonna give it 3 stars because i wasn't the intended audience.

Shelf #1: CH:

Book: Echoes at Dawn by Maya Banks (Echoes--part of the title) (Library audiobook)
Read: 11/24
Rating & Review: ★★★¾. this one was a continuation of book 4 where sisters Elizabeth and Grace were being hunted by Titan because of their psychic powers.
In this one, Rio (the first non-Kelly born MC) went to find Grace because the link between the sisters wasn't working and Grace was still in danger. From the moment. Rio and Grace met, their chemistry was undeniable. They just fit. I was amazed at Grace's strength and fortitude. I think i enjoyed her more than her sister.
This series keeps working up to something big, some kind of showdown with secret forces working within the government, but they have never really gotten there. I hope I am not disappointed when that moment arrives.

Ok so I know I probably should duck for cover after this next comment...I thought this was better than Demonica. I absolutely loved it! A very interesting vamp world. It's unusual to see the humans on top vs the vamps. What really made this book for me though was Nicole. She was awesome! She finds out everything she's ever been taught to believe is wrong and instead of having a breakdown she rolls with the punches and comes out stronger because of it. While Riker was the perfect tortured hero it wasn't over done and it didn't prevent him from "opening his eyes" like so many tortured hero books don't do till the bitter end. I am now officially kicking myself for not reading this sooner and I'll be reading book 2 very very soon!
