I was thinking that...I could probably manage one book per month I somehow got myself in over my head with BR and challenges!

We have noticed the huge page difference between the several editions for The Lies of Locke Lamora.

The word count is 192,918 so dividing by 250 words per page gives us 771 pages.

Therefore, for Tower Team purposes, we're going to state that the official ruling of this book is 90 points.

When marking your books as read, please choose an edition that has between 751 and 900 pages.

Monica (nutz4reading) @TaraJo I have only read the first book of the Fallen Angels. I don't think I have any of the other books in that series. I would have to check my library to see if they have the series.

message 154: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments My library has 1-5 but doesn't yet have Immortal in ebook. I think I'll work them into my challenge starting Dec 1

message 155: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 66 comments @Kelly, I can pretty much start Unsouled at anytime, so just let me know when you're ready to get started! :-)

Regarding Fallen Angels, it looks like my library has all of the books, so I may try to work them into my reading/challenge schedule as well.

message 156: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Neat. I'll let you know when I finish with book 2.

message 157: by Elaine (last edited Nov 09, 2014 07:21PM) (new)

Elaine (ofdustandstarlight) @Steph Ann, @Kelly I'm up for UnSouled! I need to finish that since my fourth book is on the way too. Let me know when you guys wanna start and I'll try to match up despite my crazy timezone, hah.

message 158: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Maybe we start on the 12th or 13th? Gives us about a week to finish before the 4th book BR starts?

Erin | 376 comments @Ashley - you mentioned doing a buddy read for Sabriel in December? Are you talking about the one for Clariel (which I know is book four in that series)? I just want to double check before I add it to the list at the beginning of the thread :)

Ashley Marie Erin wrote: "@Ashley - you mentioned doing a buddy read for Sabriel in December? Are you talking about the one for Clariel (which I know is book four in that series)? I just want to double check before I add it..."

No, we want to read Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1) by Garth Nix , the first book.

message 163: by Merissa (new)

Merissa (mayomb) | 45 comments Hey guys! I am so behind on this and I apologize! I think I mentioned that I'm in my last semester of undergrad, so things are really crazy! I'll be done soon though :)

1. How many books are you currently reading? Three - Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) by Charlaine Harris A Life in Men A Novel by Gina Frangello When Titans Clashed How the Red Army Stopped Hitler by David M. Glantz Guess which one I'm reading for class :)

2. Which of these are you enjoying the most? A Life in Men A Novel by Gina Frangello This is the typical book I read. My friend recommended the Sookie Stackhouse series but I can't really get into it! I'm listening to it on audiobook.

3. What style/genre of book do you typically enjoy reading? I usually read contemporary fiction or historical fiction. I also love a good humor book! I usually listen to those on audiobook.

4. Do you have any pets, if so what? Yes! An adorable cat named Molly. She just turned one and is still so small & kitten-like!

5. What is your favorite non reading hobby? I like to catch up on tv shows or go shopping! Is shopping a hobby...it should be!

6. What do you do for a job? I work as a Program Assistant at a university/medical center. I do lots of miscellaneous administration work, but am mostly the go-to person for planning events and site visits from pharmaceutical companies.

7. What area of the world do you live? Nashville, TN!

message 164: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 66 comments @Merissa, I think Living Dead in Dallas is one of the weaker Sookie books. I loved the series up until book 10 or so, and then I thought it went downhill. I still haven't read the last one lol.

message 165: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments We're reading book 10 of the Sookie books over here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... . I think they get better or at least easier to read since you know the characters better. I can't vouch for anything over 10 though.

message 166: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments @Merissa - I'm with you on the Sookie Stackhouse books...I had thought I'd like them, but I forced myself through the first book, and tried the 2nd book...just didn't work for me.

That's okay...I'll take watching the show! Oh Alcide....yummy! :-)

message 167: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) Merissa I haven't finished the Sookie books yet. I enjoy them but do find them a little boring at times.

message 168: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments MODS - can we get the points per book added at the top of the Books read thread? It would help to not have to go back and forth if we could add that into one of the reserved spot at the top. Thanks in advance if that can be done.

message 169: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 66 comments @Tara Jo, I haven't watched the last couple seasons of True Blood, but I have to agree that Alcide is very yummy! :)

message 170: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments It looks like Monica has a post reserved at the top that you could tally points in. I'm not going to have the bandwidth to tally points for all the light teams on a regular sort of basis since we already have to do the double checking.

I recommend every few days updating the tally at the top then posting a "updated til here" post to keep track.

I was looking more for the list that has the breakdowns of how much each book is worth based on length, BR bonus, etc. I can always look back before posting, just thought having the reference there would be helpful.

message 172: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Ahh. Like this one?

Exactly! That would be perfect if it could be added into one of the RESERVED comments at the top. Thanks

message 177: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Okay cool! we don't have a date set yet, I'll probably figure something out closer to December. It looks like there are going to be people from several teams doing this BR, I'm excited! I'm gonna be checking it out from the library too :)

I'm doing to good to try to read one book and listen to one on audiobooks! I pretty much have to read one beginning to end to get the full effect of it. Usually, if I stop a book to start another, I don't go back to the first one!

I remember really liking the first one and thinking book two was only meh

message 188: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I spent the entirety of the book in varying states of confusion and boredom. Thanks but no. And I was doing it as a BR with another friend, so I really didn't want to DNF it.

Steph Ann | 66 comments I don't know how many people are fans of paranormal type books, but I just finished Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle and thought it was awesome. I'm told it's the weakest one in the series, so I'm very excited to read the rest of them!

I've heard good things about that series as well....I picked up this book a while back for free I think on Amazon but haven't gotten around to it. I have #2.5 in the series as well so I just need to get around to making time!

message 196: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 66 comments I had picked it up for free as well and it had just been sitting on my Kindle for at least a year. I finally decided to read it for another team challenge I'm doing and am very glad I did!

message 197: by Sunshine (last edited Nov 17, 2014 01:44AM) (new)

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments I have Darkhouse, too...

Maybe for December we should post any books we plan to read. I'll be finishing my line up next weekend.

Do we know the total points for the team?

message 198: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments I just saw a post that they will be starting a folder/thread with all the scores. All the captains have to turn in points updates on Sundays so I think they are waiting on an update or two.

I'm working on my December list so that sounds like an idea...I'll post my planned reading later tonight in case anyone wants to do a BR.

message 199: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) Our total points as of last night were 1090. That does not include the last 2 posts in the read book thread.

Will still try to keep the reading going tho!
