I can certainly find out. I'll make a list of which ones count for what. I'm a weirdo and that's oddly fun for me.

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) For the Anita Blake

Books 1-3 don't seem to work for anything in terms of SIN BINGO.

Book 4: The Lunatic Cafe (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #4) by Laurell K. Hamilton
This will work for Red SIN BINGO

Book 5: Bloody Bones (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #5) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 6: The Killing Dance (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #6) by Laurell K. Hamilton
It has contemporary shelved, it's purple but I can't figure out a way to make it fit for bingo.

Book 7: Burnt Offerings (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #7) by Laurell K. Hamilton
This will work for Red SIN BINGO

Book 8: Blue Moon (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 9: Obsidian Butterfly (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #9) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 10: I can't make this one work unless you have this cover: Narcissus in Chains (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #10) by Laurell K. Hamilton

Book 11: Cerulean Sins (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #11) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 12 - 17 don't seem to meet color criteria

Book 18: Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #18) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 19 & 20 don't seem to meet color criteria

Book 21 and 22: Kiss the Dead (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #21) by Laurell K. Hamilton Affliction (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #22) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Sloth/Blue SIN BINGO assuming you have it on your shelf already or it's a series you meant to get back to and haven't

Book 23 -25 don't work for BINGO

message 157: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Merry Gentry

Book 1: A Kiss of Shadows (Merry Gentry, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Works for Red/Lust BINGO

Book 4: A Stroke of Midnight (Meredith Gentry, #4) by Laurell K. Hamilton
If the necklace counts as shiny, this will work for Purple

Book 5: Mistral's Kiss (Merry Gentry, #5) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Works for Red/Lust BINGO

Book 6: A Lick of Frost (Merry Gentry, #6) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Would work for Blue/Sloth assuming you meet the other criteria

No, that's definitely not a purple cover - comes across more as pink.

Yes to the brown one however.

Would either of these work for Sin Bingo?

Jenny, just check the book's tags and the sin requirements!

The Girl with All the Gifts, for one, is already on Melindam's list on the first page of the thread as it has been talked about.

Does the red cover had the guilty pleasures tag and does it fit the other requirement for Lust? If so, then yes, you can use it.

message 163: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Thanks E. It does not have guilty pleasures on the first page of tags so no go on the BINGO. I could still use it for a red cover, and something I lust after, but not a BINGO.

message 164: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments So I found a book for Envy, but how do I tell if someone on another team has read it:

Lost and Found by Orson Scott Card

Does it look green to you?

message 165: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I've been opening the sign up sheet and looking at my friends to see if any of them have read it this year and are on other teams. Otherwise you have to search each person on the sign up sheet to see if they've read it

message 166: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Thanks Stacie. I'll check it out...hopefully someone else that is playing has read it already.

message 167: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13717 comments Mod
Or you could always play visitor in a few other threads and ask if anyone's read it this year. Might be a quicker and more fun way to find someone than having to hunt through all the shelves - there are quite a lot of people after all.

As for the Orson... it looks like it should be green, but I'm honestly not sure on that middle part :-/ Does it actually have a green tinge or is that just the writing and surroundings picking up the colour reflection? (If that makes any sense.)

What do other people think?

Definitely keep it at hand then for the cover colour, you never know! Bingo isn't always easy to find hehe.

message 169: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I know one of the other teams made a spreadsheet that has a ton of green books on it and who read it when I was looking at threads yesterday.

Alright, so for the planners among you (or those going on holiday and needing to pack):

There are several prizes we can win: Look here for more info.

We could always try to go for one of those OR we can just read the way the mood strikes us and hope that it'll end up helping to get one of those.

However, in case you missed in when you read the rules, there are going to be mini challenges. So bear that in mind when you start planning ;-)

One way or another, to make the most out of the number of books you signed up with (since usually some of you read more for challenges than they originally sign up with) go for the books that will give us the most points: BOM books, big books, sin bingo books.

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns (Rise of the Empress, #1) by Julie C. Dao : Envy SinBingo-- YA/green/On Somebody's Bookshelf (I will dig around for this if there's agreement that this counts as a green cover!

Labyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1) by Zoraida Córdova : Pride SinBingo -- Purple/LGBT/contemporary

These Witches Don't Burn by Isabel Sterling : Pride SinBingo-- Purple/LGBT/Contemporary

Z for Zachariah by Robert C. O'Brien : Greed SinBingo (maybe?): yellow?/Dystopia/Anything goes

Let me know if any of these work! I was working through what are on my shelves. :)

I'm going to be picky again - sorry!
But I'm iffy on some of these covers as I'm not sure they're >50%.

The green one for instance jumps at you as green, but when you actually look at it, I'm not sure the green covers half the cover? Could be, but I'm letting myself be distracted by the fat flower in the middle haha.
Same issue with the purple one with the cards.

Your yellow option actually looks more brown to me.

Not long to go now until the challenge starts!! :-D

Are you ready to go? Chomping at the bits?? Oh wait... we're sloths.. so probably you're all just lazing around somewhere on a couch, taking things easy and hoping you'll have found the motivation to pick up your first book by the time the start rolls around ;-))

Alright fellow Sloths!!

The time is coming ever closer to start this challenge and some of you have grown suspiciously quiet. You aren't sleeping... are you? I mean, it's all nice and fellow to be a little slothful (yes, Melindam and I have been told this is an actual word and we were ecstatic about it haha) from time to time but now it's time to get our gears working!

Can we get a roll call please to make sure you're all still alive and kicking?? ;-)

In all seriousness, please do check in before Sunday (even if it's just by posting a gif etc) so we know everyone is still on board. If you still have questions about how the challenge works, don't hesitate to ask.

Also, who else is going to join a BOM to snag us some extra points? Jenny has already signed up for both books in the main group. Joy will be answering the DQ for Gideon. Nicole and I will be reading the Backroom. Did we miss someone? Do we have more volunteers? :-)

message 190: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I was actually randomly selected to start the BOM DQs for Gideon the Ninth (The Ninth House, #1) by Tamsyn Muir for Day 1 so I'll be reading that on Monday (or at least starting it).

I also plan on reading one of Stephen King's big books - Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King . I think it's purple so that should give us some extra points too, right? Even if it isn't a bingo?

message 191: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13717 comments Mod
Oh nice on the DQ!!
I'm curious to see what you think of Gideon. It sounds interesting and yet at the same time I'm not sure I want to read it? It's a very odd feeling.

Yes, cover colours give the most points if it isn't a complete bingo so that one should bring us a nice chunk :-)

message 192: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Do you think this is a blue cover?

Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card

It's been a series I've put on hold for a long time - unfortunately it's not dark fantasy on the first page of tags.

Do we get extra if we get two out of three?

message 193: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13717 comments Mod
No, it's either all three or only one of the options.

I don't think that cover is blue enough though unfortunately. The blue stands out but there isn't enough of it.

message 194: by Melindam (last edited Oct 04, 2019 02:14AM) (new)

Melindam | 8523 comments E., as the Backroom BOM was free on kindle, I downloaded it and I'm going t o read it this time even if it kills me!!!! :D (I updated the sheet)

LOL, I gave up on the backroom bom for wheel-o-brown. You know the one, Perfect Formation .

I had great fun reading the chat-thread, but I just couldn't bring myself to read the book beyond the 1st few chapters, it was so silly.

But this one is supposedly better and has some actual story to it as well. It isn't just badly-written wanna-be smut.
