It's a good book. (I never continued with the series after that one.)

Most of the Anita Blake series could work for one sin or other, at least as far as the cover colours are concerned, sometimes also the tags - specifically Lust.

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Sloth: Affliction (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #22) by Laurell K. Hamilton

I might be able to read this one. I don't have it marked as TBR but it's a series I always meant to get back to so....

It was probably one of the better ones. I think that was the first one I read. Her books got...weird.

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas would work if you can find someone in the group who read it.

That's what I heard also, so I never continued. A year or so ago, I revisited the first couple of books and I just do not like Anita's voice anymore. At all. Not after all the brilliant series I read after I started this one.

I do have #10 and #11 sitting on my shelves though... I should probably just get rid of them. It's been 6 years or more since I read Obsidian Butterfly.

Eni | 2349 comments I'm here I'm here. Sorry for some reason I haven't payed attention to tower teams oO "oh it starts in October! I have plenty of time!" I'll post my shelf and read what I've been missing after the little one's bedtime. Currently on a playground with her.

My real name is Catarina and I'm from Portugal, in Europe. I've been participating in Tower teams since Tower teams 2, so it's been a while. I'm excited about this one :) not as much as the Harry Potter one, but still excited. And my favorite color is blue so I'm glad I'm in this team xD

And yay an Organized captain :D

I've been looking on my TBR for books for sin bingo.. and i'm very disappointed. I have loads of blue books that have been there for over 2 years... but none of them are dark fantasy :(

Hard to believe I've made it through 19, some I don't even know why I kept reading!

Mmhh, I think around that time I started slowing down as well. I'm not quite sure what made me continue for a bit longer though.

Wow, ST, 19?? Are you ever going to continue or did you stop with the series?

Melindam | 8524 comments Question of the Day :)

Which book are you going to start the challenge with? Any plans? Or will it be a decision of the moment? :)

As the page count is rather important, I decided to go for a book that will not work for sin bingo, but is a guilty pleasure doorstopper, Rivals (Rutshire Chronicles #2) by Jilly Cooper by Jilly Cooper which is over 700 pages. :)

message 123: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13720 comments Mod
You couldn't have found an easier question, could you :-p

I'm not sure yet which book I'll start with.. as it depends on SOS Bingo shelf calls as well. Something with a lot of pages though.

Maybe I'll go for one of the Sin Bingo options. Maybe I'll just try and start with Kushiel's Dart (Phèdre's Trilogy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey and get that big one out of the way right away haha. Though since it's a 1k book, I might just be able to read 1 book that week (I signed up with 2 per week), but I'm sure someone will be able to pick up that slack. :-)

message 124: by Melindam (last edited Sep 25, 2019 04:44AM) (new)

Melindam | 8524 comments I think, we can support each other in this respect to keep the balance. :)

Just give us a shout!

message 125: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 247 comments I might start with The Institute. I have been looking forward to this book ever since I preordered it.

I am going out of town the Friday after the challenge starts and I am not sure how much reading time I will have once I get there.
I have some much longer books on my tbr list that I hope to knock out during this challenge.

message 126: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I think I'm going to start with Nightmares & Dreamscapes by Stephen King . It's over 1k pages, and I'm buddy reading it in another group. It might take me a week to read as I'm reading other books too at the same time. I'll see if I can sneak in a Sin Bingo book...

message 127: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8524 comments Dear All,

WE know sometimes real life gets in the way of the challenge, but if possible, please make sure you keep to the number of books you committed to / per week.

If you know you cannot stick to it, just let us know, so that we can reach a balance. We would like to avoid to get penalized for under/overachieving. :)

message 128: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Can you post the number of books we committed in one of the early posts in this thread?

message 129: by Melindam (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments My aim is to read at least 3 sin-bingo books and then 4 books that meet the requirements of a particular sin. Haven't decided what book I'll start with. Will wrap my head around that once I've completed the Floor is Lava challenge 🤪

message 133: by Bookworm_gem (new)

Bookworm_gem (gembear) | 311 comments The first week of the challenge while i'm away i might not be able to log any books as read so my first week might be 0 and then the following week will be higher than usual when i can add them to my shelf - hope that makes sense!

message 134: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 247 comments I chose a lower book count because I know the fall tends to be a little crazy and I knew I had this trip coming up the first weekend of the challenge. (And I wanted to read some longer books) However, I can pick up an extra book here and there if need be to keep within the range. Just let me know :)

message 135: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13720 comments Mod
For all those of you who are going to be away for part of the challenge and may not be able to update while away, please bear in mind that captains have to check in at the end of every week with the number of books read.

So accurate read dates will be important!

message 136: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Seeing that I read that many books a week makes me twitchy because while I consistently for the past many months have read an average of 37 books a month, the weekly number feels harder to meet. Now I'm nervous lol.

message 138: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8524 comments Gemma, we can balance it, just let us know. I could read at least 3-4 shorter books on the 1st week & then read 1 long one once you are back.

We'll work it out.

message 139: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments It's crazy how much a lot of you guys can read! The most books I've ever read in a year is 60 and some of you can do it in two months.

message 140: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments When on challenges, if I get excited, I can read 3 or 4 books a week. However I usually sign up with 1/2 just in case I have a slow week.

This is the first challenge that I know that has penalties for not reading your goal, so I'll try to read longer books and I'll stick to 1 a week. But if need to I'll read smaller books so we can meet our quota.

I have no idea what to start with. I want to do one of each sin bingo. And if there's time, then focus on sloth books. (forgot how long the challenge lasts *whistles*)

message 141: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments I have no idea what book I want to start with, but I'm leaning towards something on the shorter side for the first couple weeks. I'll move onto longer books when I have vacation later on in October.

If I can't get it in before the start date of this challenge, my first book may very well be Archangel's War (Guild Hunter, #12) by Nalini Singh . It arrived in my mail box yesterday and I am itching, itching, itching to read it! It's so pretty and almost 500 pages and I cannot wait :-DD

I'm on book 9. I keep getting distracted by Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series when I'm in the mood for a paranormal romance.
