MountainKat | 31575 comments Everyone, please do not include your likes and dislikes in this thread!! That info is best put on your profile where your picker will see it. It is not reasonable to expect that your picker will see your sign-up post! The only info the host will include in the pairings is the preferred shelf - and please try to limit that to one shelf. =) Here are some ideas about how to let your picker know what you like to read.

***TIPS TO MAKE THE CHALLENGE ENJOYABLE FOR EVERYONE!***

1. To help your picker understand the type of books you like or are currently reading, please make sure your ‘read’ shelf is up to date. You can create shelves for books you DNFed or authors that don’t work for you as well as favorites. Also, you might consider updating your profile info, many of us haven’t done so since we joined GR. You can include info there about your favorite books and authors. And in the ‘about me’ section you can add things you like or things you don’t - love friends to lovers, hate insta-love or burned out on billionaire bad boys for example.

Please take the time to reread this too:

The idea of the PIFM challenge is that you will get new-to-you books and authors selected for you as well as a push to read some books that have been lingering on your shelves. The new books might not be books you are interested in, it happens sometimes, that is why you also get a minimum of four books from your shelf. But you never know, perhaps one of those books will turn out to be a new favorite if you give it a chance. You only have to read ONE book to complete this challenge! All of the books picked for you do not have to be something you are going to read.

Vi | 2794 comments Hmm, it's a toss up between emotion (but not too emo) and passion.. Will go with drama and emotion since I'm in that mood.

message 54: by MountainKat, Moderator (last edited Oct 23, 2014 05:38PM) (new)

MountainKat | 31575 comments sirisuedward, I need to PM you and your profile isn't accepting PMs. In the opening post, receiving PMs is a requirement for this challenge as in this case, the host (and mod) needs to contact you. Please make that change in your profile and contact me so I can include you in this challenge!

For everyone's reference:

In order to participate you need to either HAVE YOUR PROFILE SET TO PUBLIC (preferable), or make the person who will be giving you recommendations your friend. You will also need to have your profile set to accept Private Messages (PMs), occasionally there will be questions the host, a mod or your picker will want to ask you. On top of that, we strongly recommend keeping your bookshelves updated; otherwise you might end up with a recommendation that you have already read.

Please double check your links and shelf links if you provided one - thanks!! About 20 hours to go!

Kristy -- I struggled with this. If you look at my shelves, you'll see we read VERY different books. Based on your shelves, I didn't think you'd have any interest in my current favorites, so I used some of my old favorites - -which of course means my recommended books are old. Please let me know if you would like me to re-pick. I would like you to be pleased with this challenge.

message 84: by Nan (last edited Oct 24, 2014 08:35PM) (new)

Nan (xxmzsmilesxx) | 84 comments Hey, Tara Jo
I've tried to use your pifm shelf but there are some books that are from your TBR shelf and some that are completely new. I hope you enjoy the books I picked and tell me how it goes! :D

Authors we are thankful for:
I'm going to assume Colleen Hoover is an author you really like (I do too!) because every book you read from her you gave it 5 stars rating.

Slammed by Colleen Hoover
You know the book is good when you read all three books in one sitting! It was wow! Ms Hoover has a knack for writing books that hit you right in the heart.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
The feels for this book is off the roof. It's serious drama and your honestly stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Books you are thankful for:
Transcendence by by Shay Savage
One of my favourite book of 2014!
Yeah I fell in love with a caveman, no seriously an actual caveman who couldn't even talk because he wasn't biologically able to communicate.
I know your looking at me thinking, how can you enjoy a book where they can't verbally communicate effectively?
And I'm telling you, you can. There is no words needed and the words that are spoken are filled with so much FEELS, I'm literally AWWING every time they are uttered.
Be warned, tears may be flowing at the end!

On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves
OHHHH! You have this on your TBR shelf *claps*
This book was so ridiculously good with amazing characterisation, plot and writing! The plot involves an older woman and a younger guy who gets trapped in an island, and obviously develop feelings for each other. There is more to the story but I don't want to ruin it by saying so much.

Books you are grateful were recommended to you:
The Education of Sebastian by Jane Harvey-Berrick
This book is completely new to you. Just to warn you its not your typical romance because it involves a married woman an a much younger guy. What their doing is wrong, they know it, the author knows it and we definitely know it. However, damn I was rooting for this couple like no tomorrow! Cheating is a no no in my eyes but man, it's complicated - I'm positioned in a manner where I find this cheating fine - which it isn't (it really does your head in). This books makes you question your own sense of conscious and it is so superbly written that I couldn't put it down.

Vain by Fisher Amelie
Fabulous book about a story of self-discovery, love and how helping others can heal one's soul.

Series you can't get enough of:
I'm into mafia themed romance recently, and no one writes mafia books like J.M. Darhower, seriously hands down one of my favourite authors.

I can't choose between her two series:
Sempre by J.M. Darhower
Talk about drama with a capital D. Murder, gang wars, slavery, betrayal, romance and tragedy. I was on a roller coaster ride throughout the book. Must be warned it's quite lengthy but her writing is superb, leaving your unable to get out of the world that she created.

Monster in His Eyes by J.M. Darhower
I enjoy reading dark romance because of their male heroes... well I wouldn't describe them as heroes more like anti-heroes because their actions and conscious are very questionable. This guy, Ignazio Vitale is Mr Mysterious, and when things start unravelling your just like WTF is happening WHY WHY WHY! He is a bad man, there's no doubt about it but there's something about him that one cannot help but love.

It Ain't Me, Babe by Tillie Cole
It seems like your favourite series is BDB, which I also agree is amazing! However, you've read every book that been published of the series, so I'm recommending a new series (on your TBR shelf) that's something I enjoyed reading.
I'm actually dying for the next book - seriously! I really enjoyed this book but must be warned it has dark themes and there is a lot of profanity.

message 90: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11327 comments Hi Toka!

I had a great time doing your picks – we had enough in common that I could get a feel for what you like, but still lots you don't have on your shelves for me to introduce you to! Enjoy!

Authors we are thankful for:
Mine: Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis – I absolutely love this book, this series, this author. OR Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh – I didn't notice much (if any) PNR on your bookshelves, but this is one of those books that even people who generally don't care for PNR seem to like a lot
Yours: The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines or Into the Deep by Samantha Young – It looks like you really like both of these authors, so here's a chance to start a new series for one (or both) of them.

Books you are thankful for: Wow, so many to choose from!
New: Do Over by Mari Carr OR One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake – very different in most ways, except that both are extremely emotional, and both are wonderful!
TBRWallbanger by Alice Clayton – just plain fun! OR Something About You by Julie James – Julie James hasn't disappointed me yet, and this is one of my favorites by her.

Books you are grateful were recommended to you:
New: Shaken by Dee Tenorio – so much emotion in such a short book! OR After the Kiss by Lauren Layne – Sexy, fun start to a series I can't wait to get back to
TBR: Playing for Keeps by R.L. Mathewson – I can't remember how many times this was recommended to me before I finally broke down and read it, then couldn't figure out why I waited so long! OR On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves – I never would have picked this up if someone hadn't nudged me into it, and I ended up loving it.

Series you can't get enough of:
New: Flat-Out Sexy by Erin McCarthy or Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey – both great starts to series that I love.
TBR: This was hard, since you seem to stay current on most of your series, but I found a couple that might work for you...Entwined with You by Sylvia Day, or The Dare by Rachel Van Dyken.

I hope you find something here that works for you...Happy Reading!

Breann | 398 comments Hi ~Leslie~! I loved going through your shelves. I tried to give you as many new recs as I could but many of them are already on your TBR :) Not all my picks from your shelves are from your preferred shelf, but most of them are.

Authors we are thankful for:
Hot Ice (TBR) or The River Knows (TBR) are both from your most read authors. The Pirate Next Door (TBR) is a favorite author for us both, I think! You read the first book so I must recommend the second, Unholy Magic (new), it's one of my very favorite series.

Books you are thankful for:
Wild Card (TBR) and A Lot like Love (TBR) are both very good, sexy contemps. Game On (new) and Carte Blanche (new) are both short, m/m free reads

Books you are grateful were recommended to you:
Unveiled (new) and The Hostage (new) are both really good historicals. Mind Games (new) is awesome urban fantasy! Something Like Summer (new) is my #1 all time fave m/m. You are in for angst right? ;)

Series you can't get enough of:
Demon from the Dark (TBR) I love this series! Succubus on Top (TBR) Another really good urban fantasy. Georgina definitely brings in the drama into her life! Dark Storm (TBR) or wherever you are in this series. It was hard to tell :D Magic Gifts (TBR) because you seem to love Ilona Andrews, as does everyone.

I hope you find one or more to read and love this month!
