OK I didn't see one of these so I made one. Sorry DC. What spooky/creepy Koontz or any other author are you guys reading for the Halloween season? I recently finished
and it was totally creepy.

King jus freaks me out!! Seriously freaky! I saw Children of the Corn Monday on TV. I have seen it before but it was long ago and I had forgotten some very ummm graphic parts.
Well I can totally understand that but I believe his books are more graphic. At least the ones I have read.
I've only read two so far. I was sick of reading the same authors over and over so I was trying to broaden my horizons.

It's all good Tracy :-) We have had a currently reading topic but it is rather old. We also had one about which Koontz book would fit into the Halloween Season I think that one is probably 2 years old now. Older topics can be found in each folder on the homepage.
New is good. Thanks for the new thread. Happy Halloween to all you Koontz Kids!

I am going to be reading Phantoms and Tick Tock soon. I am still trying to get through The House of Leaves.
I have been trying to read Warm Bodies. I love it so far, but haven't been really feeling well enough to read.
I think I saw that movie when it was in the theater. If it's the one I am thinking of it was amazing!
I have started reading
because I was told it's different from the movie. The ending of the movie tore me up.
Yes, I loved Warm Bodies! I haven't seen the movie or read the book of Stephen King's THE MIST :-)
The Mist is a very short novel so I'm surprised it was made into a movie, now that I think about it, but then again it seems almost every other King book was made into a movie. I think that's all we had to go on in the horror genre. Haha. Hollywood has gotten more creative since then.
Hey Dustin. We are going to sign a petition to Koontz for him to get on with the Chris Snow novel. Well we are as soon as you write it for us ;)
I just finished A Clockwork Orange and loved it! The slang in the novel presented a challenge so I kept having to use context clues to figure out what Alex was saying. It's been awhile since I've had to use my brain so much while reading a book.

Yeah Right. I don't think I will get around to it, but anyone is welcome & we will be happy to support :-) I do think Koontz is working on something. I keep picking up hints. Odd Thomas is finished. I think Chris Snow is next.

Strangers is a long book (one of Dean's lengthiest novels). The beginning is a struggle. there is a lot of background on the different characters but it gets interesting & has a beautiful message :-) Good Luck!
Just finished I Am Legend. Awesome.
Gritty, raw, adrenaline pumper from time to time, depressing, scientific, great ending. Vampires like they should be.
Just started Everything's Eventual
Dominic wrote: "Thanks Tracy. I actually picked it up again last night and it finally gripped me (some 270 pages in!! If it wasn't 2am at the time I wouldn't have put it back down.)"That's good to hear Dominic. There's nothing worse than investing time in a book you end up not liking.
I am listening to
because I have had it forever. It's OK so far but I'm not really deep into it yet.
Tracy, I did! I only gave it 4 stars because of too many similarities to The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt from last year which I'd JUST read. The City was very different but using the same painting, having an explosion in the MOMA, and losing a beloved important female, and losing some skills as a musician... Those points were too similar too close to another author, you know? If it was Art, and the Authors were Artists, and the Paintings were that similar, the Art World would be in an uproar. ;)Still, the writing and plot layout were well done, kept me reading, no "dry spots", very interesting characterizations too. I saw each character as a real person. So, yeah, I enjoyed it.
I'm behind in my reviews though, or I'd send you to it :) (pledging so many books in the Year Pledge Drive kind of put me behind on the paperwork. I'm not pledging so many next year so I can 1. Catch up with my reviews, 2. Be able to Keep Up with my reviews, and 3. Read the over 500 pg books I have been wanting to read. :D )
Did you write a review on it?
Have just read Hyena by Jude Angelini, LOTS of cuss words and really bad living. Was rough to read though I think he may be finally figuring out his life...And am now reading another Koontz book, Phantoms, for the Goodreads group's pick for November. VERY horror, unlike The City, which couldn't possibly fit that genre. I'm liking it too. :)
Oh and yeah, this last month I read his first Chris Snow novel, and was very intrigued. Hopefully, he'll finish those up!
I did review it Meran but I can't link it here because I'm on a phone but I am really loving the change in his writing. It feels like Koontz is branching out a little. I also hope he finishes the Chris Snow series. Several of us have been waiting a while for that to happen.
Reading Phantom today and yes, his characterization improved greatly over the 15 yrs since. (most of what I've read of his has been since Phantom, I believe)I really like Oddy… but I recently found the Chris Snow book and like it even better! So, yes, I'm in the club of Those Who Want Koontz To Finish the Snow Books :D
I agree - the Christopher Snow books were great; I'd love another one!
Am reading Revival by Stephen King... Not a horror book (I'm over halfway thru) but enjoying it very well :D
I am currently reading Mr. Murder! I've been running out of bookshelf space so I got this one from the library.
Meran wrote: "Am reading Revival by Stephen King... Not a horror book (I'm over halfway thru) but enjoying it very well :D"Meran, I just finished REVIVAL and really liked it, a lot. You're right about it not being a horror book. I think that King, now that he's sober and off drugs, is more into suspense than his "spooks and horror" which is fine w/ me. He's still a damn good storyteller and superb at character development and I like his REVIVAL character Jamie Morton and even find Charles Jacobs intriguing. Good read!
Finished Everything's Eventual, then Lisey's Story, Green Mile, Joyland, Rose Madder and Revival. I think Joyland was my favorite as an overall story, Green Mile a close second. They both had depth, great characters, good endings. I've completely switched gears to John Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany. I absolutely love it so far.

I also am a big fan of John Irving!
