Jillian | 2917 comments Sounds good, Chrissy. I will get you updated on the list. I put you down for read-in-2019 since I have someone else pending for the library and no one in the read in 2019 spot.

Jillian | 2917 comments Thanks!

message 54: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I finished Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance for coming-of-age and updated the spreadsheet. I should finish The Ensemble for music tomorrow afternoon.

message 55: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Great job, Traci!

I have about 4 hours left on my audio book so I should finish it tomorrow morning.

message 56: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Great job, post 2 has the shelves that currently has openings. Though we can shift some books around if needed.

message 57: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments I finished Heart of Iron which we have down for retellings for now.

message 58: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Thanks, Devin and Deborah!

We need to finish 5 more shelves to complete Quest 1 and we have members working on 10 books so hopeful those extra books will work for Quest 2.

message 59: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments Good morning all! I expect to finish Ten in the next few hours (super fast read). It would work for realistic-fiction which I think is still open.

message 60: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Good morning! I ended up listening more than expected last night and just finished the ensemble for music. I'm not able to update the spreadsheet now. I'm excited to see where we are when I check back in this afternoon!

message 61: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I’ll update for The Ensemble, which brings us to 10 complete. Great job!

message 62: by Jillian (last edited Sep 08, 2019 08:49AM) (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Way to go Traci! I updated post 2 and some else got the spreadsheet updated. I jumped ahead in my counting earlier we now need 5 more 5 shelves.

Let me know if I missed anyone's books.

message 63: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments I have about 2 hours left of my audio book so I'm going to get back to cleaning and listening.

message 64: by Alaina (last edited Sep 08, 2019 08:52AM) (new)

Alaina Rodriguez Good morning everyone! I'm about halfway through Obsidio right now so I'm hoping to knock out the rest of it by the end of the day.

message 65: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Sweet job on the spreadsheets, Cake Leaders! So, I'll likely finish my book today, am I correct that we won't know the next topics until we finish this quest? Trying to decide what to read next!

message 66: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Perri, I think that is correct. I have been looking at the other groups too in case they finish quest 1 before us. Then we might have an idea of quest 2.

Perri | 886 comments Jillian wrote: "Perri, I think that is correct. I have been looking at the other groups too in case they finish quest 1 before us. Then we might have an idea of quest 2."

Sneaky! I like it!! :)

message 68: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I finished Kingdom of the Blind, and will update the spreadsheet now.

message 69: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments I just finished Stormbird and will get it updated.

I have to go into work for a bit and then I will see about starting a new book.

message 70: by Jillian (last edited Sep 08, 2019 11:56AM) (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Chrissy or Traci, I added my book to the spreadsheet but I'm unsure how to add the gray coloring. Would one of you be able to do that?

message 71: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments No problem!

message 72: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments It looks like we’ll get to 15 today or tomorrow, so I’m going to wait and see what the next quest is before starting a new book. In the meantime I can get some housework and other stuff done! And probably read the books I started before the readathon that don’t count.

message 73: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Finished Strange New Things for Wishlist

message 74: by Deborah (last edited Sep 08, 2019 01:32PM) (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments I finished Ten for realistic-fiction!

Not likely to finish anything else today or tomorrow and itvlooks like we just need one more, but hopefully will be making progress on something that will work for the next quest!

message 75: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Great job, Perri and Deborah!

message 76: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Great job everyone! I'm back home now and reading some books (one physical, one audio). It's likely someone else will finish the quest, so I'm hopeful they'll count for the next one!

message 77: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments My next books will work for Contemporary but I think someone else will finish a book before me. So, I'm going to wait to add my book.

message 78: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I just finished Dear Martin.

message 79: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Woo Hoo! Way to go Jill!

message 80: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Hey mods - We've finished 15 shelves and are ready for our next Quest!!

message 81: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Traci, I also posted a note to the mods in the team assignment thread in case they miss your post.

Quest #2

Sometimes a quest takes you closer to home than you expect. The next step of the journey focuses on your "home" in the ATY group.

Read 10 books that are somehow related to the ATY group. This includes (limited to) the following:

- A books with that starts with a letter found in "AROUND THE YEAR"
- A book that one of the moderators rated as 5 stars
- A book for the 2019 or 2020 challenge
- A book for the Fall/Autumn Challenge
- A book you originally discovered within the group
- A book from ATY's "lesser known" book list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

For any other teams that may or may not be lurking in other team's threads, you're in luck with this quest. But future quests may not be discovered quite so easily ;)

message 83: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Laura, for the prompt "A book for the 2019 or 2020 challenge" I'm guessing for the 2019 it just has to fit the prompt rather than be the actual book you use (I have completed 51 of the prompts and my last book has less 125 left so I cannot use it).

message 84: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Laura - Is it correct that there are no rules for how to fill books into these groups? For instance...could all 10 come from just one category?

message 85: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Team...if you like spreadsheets I did make a very basic one for this quest (Quest #2 - as before, feel free to change/add), but there's not as much strategizing so feel free to just post instead. I'm also going to make a "Books" tab since I saw in a different group that books that don't fit in this quest can be used in future quests.

message 86: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments Yay for a new quest!

My next reat will be The Arrangement which would work for a title starting with a letter from our group name and possibly other categories, though I'm not sure if I will be able to start before tomorrow.

message 87: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
The book does not have to actually be applied to the prompt, it just has to fit one of the prompts.

You also can apply books to the same prompt as many times as you would like.

message 88: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Thanks!

Thanks Laura!

message 90: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I've added a Books tab, and I believe I have entered all books that are listed in posts and on the spreadsheet tabs for quest #1 and #2. I'll try to keep it updated, but I've listed team members in alphabetical order, which should make it more readable. No pressure to read all the books listed, and there were a few listed in posts that I didn't add, since I think they might have had under 125 pages left so not count (let me know or update if that is incorrect).

message 91: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments Ya team! I just logged on to say that I finished Love and Death Among the Cheetahs for quest 1 but we are onto quest 2 already!

This book was published this year so we can use it for A book for the 2019 or 2020 challenge it fits into week 51. A book published in 2019.

message 92: by Alaina (last edited Sep 08, 2019 04:44PM) (new)

Alaina Rodriguez Way to go everyone on completing the first quest!

I just finished Obsidio which can work for a title that starts with a letter found in "AROUND THE YEAR." I'll also start The Dog Stars later tonight, which can work for a book for the 2019 challenge, as this fits prompt 14 to read a book with a title that relates to an astronomical term.

message 93: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Woot, Don't we all just take the cake??

Does anyone know the rule about Graphic Novels? Mod Sophie has Nimona as a 5 star fav and I could easily pick up a copy from my library tomorrow. I think that was a prompt I once voted for and the Lesser Known List One as well!

Also started The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss

message 94: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Adding books to the list I see what others are reading:

Traci, have you used up all your kleenex with A Monster Calls?
Jillian at the opposite spectrum I thought Furiously Happy was Furiously Funny
Chirssy-man I didn't get Flatland, you must be smart!

message 95: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I a, going to start Me Talk Pretty One Day. It fits “a book for the 2019 or 2020 challenge” - a book not written in a traditional novel format. I should finish on Tuesday.

Lol take the cake! :)

I think graphic novels woyld count, but need to meet the 125+ pages requirement? Unless i missed any added rules.

message 97: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Nimona is fine since it's plenty long (272 pages)

I've barely started A Monster Calls....I need to stop looking at spreadsheets! I've been warned though...

I enjoyed Flatland, but I was a math major in college, so there's that.

I'll ask in the mods to see what they say about Graphic Novels.

I also update post 2 with the completed books.

message 100: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2917 comments Perri, Katie said " Graphic novels work as long as they meet the page requirement."
So, your book is good to go!
