Fantasy, vampires, werewolves, Harry Potter type books. But having said that I have a story buzzing around in my head, tried to ignore but it will not go away, that belongs in the Science Fiction genre so I have made notes and may tackle it after my current novel-in-progress, and the next trilogy project. As you can see never a dull moment.
I don't read romances. They bore me and are usually very predictable. These include those fantasy vampire/werewolf books that I really DO NOT like. I do love normal fantasy with magic and dragons and stuff, but not the romancy type ¬_¬Basically. Lovey dovey stuff.

My bad. Sorry. Basically this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
Same as Jenni, but I do read post apocalyptic novels, not a big fan of much fantasy and I don't care for graphic novels.
Diane S. wrote: "Same as Jenni, but I do read post apocalyptic novels, not a big fan of much fantasy and I don't care for graphic novels."There are too damned many postapocalyptic novels on the market especially in the damned YA/NA "genre."
I normally only read, history, mystery, and biographies with an occasional fictional book thrown in; especially, the classics.
I don't read self help books, no erotica, no horror - except that I'm surreptitiously introducing Harvest Home to my tbr list - no Victorian books, and no more 19th century or early 20th century romances, no YA books, no literary books. I want to like Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I've never read a great example of either since I got my kindle.

Especially Butcher if you like your fantasy hero to be a smart ass like Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden of the Dresden Files or Tavi from the Codex Alera (both series are by Butcher).

"You mean well, but I have tried reading a few Asimov books, and I couldn't finish most of them. He was so prolific because they let him publish everything he thought! At least IMHO. Thanks for the recommendations. I have read the first 5 Dresden books. Need to have a look at Code Alera.
That wasn't Asimov's only genre. He also published in other genres. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_As... talks about the other genres he wrote in.I have read the entire Codex Alera series and hope Jim writes a second series, either exploring the early days of Aleran civilization or the generations that follow the grandson of Gaius Sextus... . If you like well written villains, you'll probably fall in love with Ambassador Varg in the Codex Alera.
I tend to stay away from romances unless it's a rock star romance. Those are my guilty pleasures. No erotica, vampires, werewolves, science fiction, dystopian/steampunk.
I don't like sci-fi, steampunk, or Christian fiction. I also don't "get" poetry, in the sense that it does absolutely nothing for me. I sort of feel like I'm missing something when people harp on about great poems...

Amber wrote: "Who does, Nora, other than some so-called "Christians" themselves, that is?"Maybe people who don't like themselves? I don't know. Lol
+i don't read manga.+other than that, sometimes don't like classic or the one i think a book is a bit boring.
it depends though.

Or how someone who wrote poems only and had a short life can be remembered for posterity.
NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE SCI-FI...Make an exception forNightfall and Other Stories. Read it. You'll enjoy most of the book, I guarantee it. But don't confuse my recommendation with another book by Isaac Asimov, which is simply titled Nightfall, and is an ordinary novel.

don't like poetry.

I tend to agree Amber! Sex in novels is rarely neccessary. I will almost always give a book a lower rating if it contains sex. I have read too many great novels that contained not a hint of sex.
That said, if you're reading it because it's supposed to be about sex then that's the minuscule % that it's NOT gratuitous... .
I don't read novels that are about sex. To me that is pornography and I will have NOTHING to do with that.
Call me old school fashioned, but this erotica is just too much lately, I don't mind a bit of slap and tickle, but the stuff some authors write about used to be viewed on THE TOP SHELF or UNDER THE COUNTER when I was younger! I really don't read fantasy, horror [because I am unable to read with my eyes closed LOL] and Mills and booney type books, the 'happy ever after' ones. I don't like supernatural or anything that gives me the colly wobbles
