Recently finished a good start to a new series
Dark Murder by Helen H. Durrant. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
What She Wanted by Julie Anne Lindsey is a pleasant but forgettable coming of age story. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Great new favourite book in my favourite genre (short stories) is Caitlin Hamilton Summie's To Lay To Rest Our Ghosts, a collection of stories, often inter-connected like those of Pulitzer prize-winning author Elizabeth Strout.

Quirky first novel Quiet Until the Thaw by Alexandra Fuller, channelling her 'inner Lakota' to show the plight and humour of the disenfranchised American Indians (as they are always called in the book).

I am midway through If The Creek Don't Rise. Interesting characters although the colloquialisms of the first part started to wear on me.
Recently read Little Gold by Allie Rogers. 12-yo girl trusts nobody, and with good reason.

This was a book I just couldn't put down once I had started it. Don't even think about asking what time we finally got dinner last night. ...

, Sourdough, it's quirky and fun and interesting so far, just like the author's previous book
*I ended up giving this book 5*, it was just so unique, well written and fun with some things to really think about. Is bigger always better, etc.
I'm half way through this and enjoying it After She's Gone bySheryl Browne Approved today for The Whispering Room by Dean Koontz - I really enjoyed The Silent Corner, so hope book #2 is as good.
Just started The Invisible Library
by Genevieve CogmanI've been way behind on getting reviews written on books I've read and books I still need to read. I'm down to 22 to go. My goal is to get these all done by the end of next month.

I was reading
, A Killer Harvest but this just wasn't for me. It's really gory, creepy and just plain sick. Not my kind of thriller but I'm sure it will find it's audience. The author is a very good writer and I had read a previous book by him but it was nothing like this one!
Glad you loved this one too, Dorie! It did have a unique plot and the characters were done so well. The setting itself was even a character, I thought it was beautiful too. It was writen really well. Checking out your review now...

I've saved it to request later but I do think I will. Oh my... It seems my January is already full and it's still August.
Like listening to gossip about first wife by second. Most enjoyable little book. Sisters by Lily Tuck.

Recently enjoyed Sami Shah's informative, entertaining The Islamic Republic of Australia. Read and learn from a smart, ex-Muslim, Australian comedian!

Another 4.5★ read for me. Who'd have though that yummy Sourdough could lead to such an intriguing story? Author Robin Sloan, that's who. You may know him as the author of Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, which was equally delightful.

Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker was a disappointing 2.5☆ read for me. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I freely admit I'm a sucker for short stories, and I've found a new (to me) author! Jacob M. Appel's latest collection, The Liars' Asylum, is excellent.

I read most of the night to finish a brilliant debut novel that I simply could not put down -
Friend Request by Laura Marshall. It is published September 5th, so put your name down for it at your local bookstore, or order it online now so you don't miss out! My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
