Mesmerized (The Mad Morelands, #1) by Candace Camp
This is a reissue of the first Mad Morelands book which I've never read previously and was pleasantly surprised by the addition of paranormal in a historical romance. The publisher is re-releasing in ebook (plus MMP for book 1) all of the books in the series to lead up to the new release of books 5 & 6.

The Beachside Christmas by Karen Clarke
Just started No Cure for the Dead by Christine Trent. Only 6% in but it’s pretty good so far. It’s a murder mystery involving the one and only Florence Nightingale. I have a bunch of other novels that I have requested. Has anyone noticed a delay in the acceptance or denial of their requests? I’m thinking it’s just because of the holidays, but I wanted to be sure it wasn’t just me.
I've just finished Jacob M. Appel's sometimes funny, sometimes touching contemplation of suicide in Millard Salter's Last Day.

I'm a sucker for short stories, and some of these were good. Pure Hollywood: And Other Stories by Christine Schutt, who has won prizes for other works.

NOT your run-of-the-mill autism book about your brain and wiring and special skills, etc. This is a practical book that all school libraries and teachers should have and provide for students with autism. This was another great installment in this HR series about 4 heiresses all skilled in a field usually reserved for men (linguist, mathematician, painter and naturalist).

Dorie- I'm at 30% in Alternate Sides and left the book for awhile to read some others coming out sooner. So far I've been underwhelmed with it.

For fiction, I was lucky enough to get be one of the first 200 on Coming Home by Fern Britton today, and I think I put the request in a little while ago, but also got Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman to read as well. Otherwise, I also have a number of cookbooks to review.

Wow, that is a glowing review :) I have to finish the book I'm reading now and then Alternate Sides and then I can get to this one, probably on vacation. Is is terribly depressing? I'm just asking because the one I'm reading now "Two Girls Down" is good but depressing and I don't want a depressing book for my vaca :)
No Dorie, this one isnt depressing at all. It is so different than the books I usually read. Oh I was depressed when I finished it, because it was so good, and I wanted it to go on forever.I was in such a great mood reading this, it really made me happy. I hope you feel the same way. We are all different on what we like but I really think you will enjoy this one.
Just read Wildest of All by P.K. Lynch, who played Lizzie in the film Trainspotting. Turns out she’s a pretty good writer, too.
