The new goal is to READ ALL THE GENRES.

There are 50 categories all together, including the other. (Hey, if we're going to do this, we've gotta include the other!)

As of right now:

Katie (oh, that's me!) has read 28 categories, so has 22 to go.

Grace also has 28, with 22 to go.

Mireille has 31, so 19 to go. (I didn't count your bastard point, so put it here.)

Jess has 32 and 18 to go.

Steph has 13 and 37 to go.

No more points, just counting down to zero!

Edit: I forgot say--if I got any of these numbers wrong, let me know! Counting is hard!

I finished Romantic Suspense > Spy:

Your Scandalous Ways by Loretta Chase.

So I have 29 categories, 21 to go

message 3: by Mireille Duval (new)

Mireille Duval | 98 comments BASTARD POINT: THE COMEBACK.

I finished Other > Science Fiction:

The Elite by Kiera Cass.

I have 32 categories, 18 to go. So basically I read almost as many books as Jess! SHOULD HAVE WON

message 4: by Mireille Duval (new)

Mireille Duval | 98 comments I read a LGBTQ book, and it's too bad that you guys can't read french, because it was super sweet and great and I loved it.

So that's Contemporary > LGBTQ:

Recrue by Samuel Champagne

I now have 33 categories, 17 to go!

message 5: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
I read Historical Romance > Flappers:

An American Duchess by Sharon Page

32 categories, 18 to go

The best part of this book was that it unexpectedly fit this category.

message 10: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments Okay so I still intend to finish as much of this as I can. *pokes thread*

Since I last updated, I have read:

Paranormal > Fae:

Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire

Historical > Regency:

Lord Carew's Bride by Mary Balogh

Historical > Other > Marriage of Convenience:

It Happened One Season by Stephanie Laurens et al

Which means I am now up to 31 categories with 19 to go

message 11: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Yessss. I still want to finish, too, but my books are not cooperating!

message 12: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
I read:

Inspirational Romance > Other > Jewish:

Lighting the Flames by Sarah Wendell.

I liked it!

33 categories, 17 to go

message 13: by Mireille Duval (new)

Mireille Duval | 98 comments I finally finished a terrible book for the following category:

Historical Romance > Pioneer / Cowboy / 1800’s American West:

Texas Pride by Leigh Greenwood.

34 categories, 16 to go!

message 14: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod

message 15: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
I read:

Historical Romance > Men in Kilts:

Kiss Me, Annabel by Eloisa James

IDK if this is quite what the challenge intended for this category, but being Scottish was a large part of the book, so I'm counting it.

34 categories, 16 to go

message 16: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments Okay okay! Two more!

Contemporary > Multicultural/multiracial:

Party Lines by Emma Barry

Paranormal > Witches:

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

33 categories down! 17 to go!

message 17: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Quick, Grace, go read one more, so we can all have the same numbers!

message 18: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments What category should I read next, then!?

message 19: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Paranormal demons.

message 20: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments That's one I haven't done yet! RECOMMEND ME A BOOK.

message 21: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
I am probably going to do Dark Currents, which I think is more urban fantasy than romance, but shhhh.

I think I've thought of some others that would fit, but I don't remember now!

message 22: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
OKAY LET'S DO THIS.

I read:

Contemporary > Military:

I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

Paranormal Romance > Angels:

Shadows by Paula Weston

I'll Meet You There was really great! I recommend it for anyone still looking for military. Or just in general.

So now I have:

36 read, 14 to go!

message 23: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments ALRIGHT. Katie and I vowed we were going to take this on after I finished my finals and here's what I've done so far in May:

Contemporary > Pets and Vets:

Rumor Has It by Jill Shalvis

Other > Science Fiction:

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

35 read, 15 to go!

message 24: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Don't tell them that! I haven't gotten to more yet, LOL.

message 25: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
OKAY.

Paranormal Romance > Witches:

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

It was really good!

I guess that's all. So many books read! So few that count!

35 read, 13 to go

message 26: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments Making some more progress!

Contemporary > Firefighters:

Flirting with Fire by Kate Meader

Contemporary > LGBTQ:

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour (highly recommend!)

37 read, 13 to go! (Which I think is what you meant with your last update, Katie)

And on that note, I have completed the Contemporary category!

message 27: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Haha, SO I DID.

Okay, let's not take books away from myself!!!

37 read, 12 to go

message 28: by Karina (new)

Karina Garcia Labraña (bluejackcalavera) | 1 comments Hi, I joined the group because I'm looking to know people and get together in book clubs, but I don't understand very well if you guys have a list of books or if I can join you in your readings. I'm in seattle by the way.

message 29: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
Hi! You can see the list we're using here. You are welcome to join us! It's pretty casual. We are just trying to read books that fit each of the categories. Whatever books you want! In this thread, we're counting down how many we've read and how many we have left. There are 50 categories all together.

I'm in Tacoma. :)

message 30: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
OKAY. Let's see if I can get my points correct this time. Seeing as my correction was wrong.

Contemporary > LGBTQ:

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

38 read, 12 to go

message 31: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod

I read:

Other > Fantasy:

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

38 read, 12 to go!

message 33: by Jess (new)

Jess | 60 comments I am coming for you all. I read:

Other > Christmas:

Home for the Holidays by Sarah Mayberry

Romantic Suspense > Spy

What the Bride Didn't Know by Kelly Hunter

Paranormal > Angels

Archangel's Shadows by Nalini Singh

And then I've got a bunch of Historicals.

Men in Kilts

When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare

WW2

Letters to the Lost by Iona Grey

Victorian

My Beautiful Enemy by Sherry Thomas

American West

With All My Heart by Jo Goodman

Assuming Katie's initial math was correct, that means I have 39 read, 11 to go.

message 34: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments Let's play some more catchup! I have read:

Historical > WWII

The Morning Song by Eva Ibbotson

Rocky Mountain Heat by Vivian Arend

Oooh, and this works, I think:

Neither was super great for me sadly!

41 read, 9 to go

message 36: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments 2016: the year we finish this thing, amirite??

I have read one or two more for this, I think, but I am on my phone and also lazy. New Years resolution, etc.

message 37: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod

message 42: by Katie (new)

Katie (katayla) | 165 comments Mod
I TOTALLY HAVE THIS.

Historical Romance -> Middle ages
The Merchant's Daughter by by Melanie Dickerson

Historical Romance -> Asian
The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama

I had the worst trouble with middle ages. I DNF'd two books before finally figuring out I had this one on my Kindle.

The Marriage Bureau for Rich People isn't historical, but I figured a book actually set in an Asian country, about Asian characters, was more in the spirit of things than the historical ones about white people.

47 read, 3 to go!!!!!!!!!!!

message 43: by Grace (new)

Grace (graizala) | 44 comments LOOK BEHIND YOU.

Paranormal > Demons

Evernight - Kirsten Callihan

Paranormal > Ancient Gods

Abandon - Meg Cabot

Other > Time Travel

Landline - Rainbow Rowell

47 read, 3 to go! I'm in this place where I'm not super excited about options for the last categories I have remaining, so I'm just trying to push through because I JUST WANT TO BE DONE (and also I am determined to finish).

message 44: by Katie (new)

Would be more excited if the last three hadn't been really disappointing/upsetting reads. Ugh. BUT AT LEAST I'M DONE NOW.
