I HEAR you. Why do so many great things have to come out right now? I'm reading, like, 20 things at once!

message 202: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I wish I could do that. I always get so into one book that the others just sit there, lol.

Casey Anderson | 637 comments I thought I just finished a book for this and when I went to mark it complete I noticed I didn't add it to my TBR shelf til July! Darn! I'd wanted to read it longer but it wasn't on the list.
Oh well I still have time!

That was actually one of the first books I got on Kindle. - I was resistant to e-readers for sooo long but now I prefer it because I can adjust the font and do not need good lighting. I was in the mood for a zombie book and that and the sequel did the trick.

message 215: by Kim (new)

Kim | 33 comments I finished my third book: Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1) by Jessica Spotswood

This is from my "One or more of the books that have been on your TBR (To Be Read) Goodreads bookshelf for 6 months or more" list.

I updated my original post #40.

Diane, I resisted e-readers for a long time as well. Now I love my Kindle app, especially with all the good deals on books that group members share!

message 218: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments I have taken much more advantage on the Kindle app and Amazon's buy with one click option, than I could read in a year. I always have my phone or lap top near so if I am at work with some spare time (hardly ever happens)I pick up reading. If the kids want to stop and play at the park I
use my phone app. to read. I will never be with out because there are so many on it now. Before I sometimes had to wait with nothing to read days or a week until I got to the library or a bookstore.

message 219: by Amber (last edited Nov 17, 2014 08:03AM) (new)

Amber (amberm867) Finished my fourth book: The Mark of Athena Excerpt by Rick Riordan . It's from a series that I started, but haven't continued for 6+ months.

It was good, but I didn't really remember what happened in the previous two books, so I had to re-read those first. Anybody else having that problem?

Also this is a middle-grade, non-YA book. Wish it wasn't. Then I could read The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) by Rick Riordan next. Well, maybe I'll get 6 done and then I can read it later for this challenge. :)

Updated Original Post#14

message 220: by Carina (new)

Carina I'm having that problem Amber!! i'm about 55% in to Deity (Covenant, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout but it's been hard since I almost didn't read at all for almost a year. My own fault I know :\

message 241: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleycw) | 257 comments I read A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness (post #11) which I've owned for two years. I've seen this categorized as YA and as middle grade. If it needs to be my one non YA books that's fine.

message 242: by Christie (new)

Christie (cereale) Finally got around to #5 Deadly by Julie Chibbaro . This has been on my TBR list since 2011. Updated post #6.

message 243: by laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (last edited Nov 23, 2014 01:52PM) (new)

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Finished book 9: The Berserker's Horse by Lisa Maxwell (adult) from my physical shelf.

I think I've had this thing since I was stationed in Cherry Point—it was time to read it, mostly so I could justify donating it to some hapless library (mwahahahaha). If you find this in a bookstore . . . run, don't walk, RUN away. Do not be fooled by the pretty horse on the cover.

How was Princess Academy? I am hoping to find something to draw my 5th grader in.

I liked it. Definitely appropriate for a fifth grader. When I was around that age I also liked Tamora Pierce's books and still do. Her Emelan series would be perfect for a fifth grader.

While a deep and meaningful book for any age, I'm going to count A Monster Calls as your Non-YA. (The Chicago Library system classifies it as Elementary, even).

That aside - CONGRATULATIONS, Ashley! You're now an official "finisher" in this challenge. You can take a break - or you can keep up the race and score a medal! :)
