Pair 3: Science Fiction vs. the runner-up from Group D - Vampire Science Fiction: Alien in the Family by Gini Koch – 10/21/14

WINNER: SCIENCE FICTION
Science Fiction: The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee SmithThis was epic. It's seriously very very long (432,285 words). It was a roller coaster ride - the romance between the MC was sigh-worthy and some of the other stuff was very rage-inducing. The theme was well-incorporated. Not too much detailed SF but enough for me to get a feel.
Rating: 4/5
Vampires: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
Holly Black is such a talented author. Given the saturation of vampires in the market, she manages to make it fresh. The world building is very interesting and even unique. The MC are snarky as expected of a YA but entertaining to read.
Rating: 9/10
Winner: Science Fiction
I was lucky in that both the books are been great reads. But Science Fiction edges out Vampires because of the complexity of the book.

Hmmm, for this pairing, I'll read...Sci-Fi:
by Stormy Glenn ★★★Vampire:
by JC Wallace ★★★★Winner - Vampire
My 4th Pair: Science Fiction: Soulless (Done 10/21)
Theme: ★★★★. It's a Historical, yet Sci-Fi, STeampunk novel with a Sassy Spinster.
Enjoyment: ★★★★★. This book found me chuckling on the train. I really liked Alexia. She made this book fun.
Total: ★★★★½. Definitely following this series on audio.
Vampire: Written in Red (Done 10/22)
Theme: ★★★★. Young girl (Meg) ran away from life of imprisonment for profit and was taken in by other worldly wolf Simon and the supernatural community.
Enjoyment: ★★★. Dang this book was long and descriptive. It took me a week on audio!!! I truly believe I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read it instead of listening to it. I am seriously considering reading it over on ebook before going to book 2, Murder of Crows.
Total: ★★★½. I liked it but on audio it felt like forever
WINNER: Science Fiction (I am so ashamed because I love vamps). I didn't betray you Butch & Vishous

Loved that book."
YES, me too!
Completed.Science Fiction:
3 StarsVampire:
2 StarsThe science fiction theme came through much stronger than the vampire. I enjoyed previous books in the Night Huntress series, but felt this one was not up to her usual standard.
Claimed was very cheesy, but the theme was strongly represented and I awarded 3 stars just for the humour in this book.
My winner is Science Fiction.
