Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Yes. Thank you, Melanie, for this challenge and for every reading challenge you create! They are so much fun and have definitely pushed me to read more and discover books I might not have read otherwise. :)

I enjoyed all of the books I read for this challenge, however the ones that stood out to me and became my new favorites are:
Astray (Ariboslia #1) by J.F. Rogers , Adrift (Ariboslia Book 2) by J.F. Rogers , & Aloft (Ariboslia #3) by J.F. Rogers from Ariboslia - The Complete Series by J.F. Rogers <-- The Kindle/ebook edition of this entire trilogy is just $2.99 at Amazon, this month (October, 2019) only, for anyone who is interested. This is a Christian fantasy fiction series that, although unique, reminds me of "The Chronicles of Narnia" (with characters stepping through a portal between the human realm a realm of magical landscapes, beings, and creatures), and "The Lord of the Rings" (influenced by folklore, mythology, and the Christian bible, with a selected group of characters sent on a quest to save the world from evil forces). I really really love these books and highly recommend them! :)

Angie Thompson (angiethompson) | 338 comments I found quite a few new favorites, too! Top of the list are:

An amazing Regency series that if I didn't know better, I'd believe was actually written in the period--
Letters from Bath; Or, a Friend in Exile (The Meriweather Chronicles #0.5) by Meredith Allady Friendship & Folly (The Merriweather Chronicles #1) by Meredith Allady Letters to Julia (The Meriweather Chronicles #2) by Meredith Allady A Summer in Bath (The Merriweather Chronicles #3) by Meredith Allady

A modern-day soldier story that made me cry buckets and still somehow ended up a favorite--
O to be Like Thee How Deep Love Runs by Kassie Angle

An incredibly creative steampunk/nonmagical fantasy mix--
The Electrical Menagerie (The Celestial Isles #1) by Mollie E. Reeder

A beautiful western that absolutely stole my heart--
Left-Hand Kelly by Elisabeth Grace Foley

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Melanie, this was perhaps my favorite game yet that we've had here on CFB. :)

Do you know when you're going to put up the next challenge game? I am hoping for January... because Nov/Dec are super packed for me. BUT, if it's one of those two months, I'll just probably jump in with my planned catch-up-on-challenges-for-this-year books.

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Here are some of the books I enjoyed reading for this game:

Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell Ours for a Season by Kim Vogel Sawyer Finding Lady Enderly by Joanna Davidson Politano The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (The Mysterious Benedict Society, #2) by Trenton Lee Stewart The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma (The Mysterious Benedict Society #3) by Trenton Lee Stewart Mansfield Park by Jane Austen Love from Greece Three Modern Women Find Love Is as Priceless as Their Grecian Roots by Melanie Karis Panagiotopoulos Jane Austen Four Classic Novels by Jane Austen Vanished (Private Justice, #1) by Irene Hannon Keep Holding On (Walker Family, #3) by Melissa Tagg HCSB Study Bible by Anonymous A Woman of No Importance The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II by Sonia Purnell The Dressmaker's Secret (The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, #1) by Kellyn Roth A Distance Too Grand (American Wonders Collection, #1) by Regina Scott Beneath a Golden Veil by Melanie Dobson Christopher Robin The Novelization by Elizabeth Rudnick Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen Little Men (Little Women, #2) by Louisa May Alcott Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott Rose in Bloom (Eight Cousins, #2) by Louisa May Alcott Prague Winter A Personal Story of Remembrance and War, 1937-1948 by Madeleine K. Albright Shadow Warriors of World War II The Daring Women of the OSS and SOE by Gordon Thomas Operatives, Spies, and Saboteurs The Unknown Story of the Men and Women of World War II's OSS by Patrick K. O'Donnell Jack's Life The Life Story Of C.S. Lewis by Douglas Gresham

Some of the nonfiction books have negative content I didn't like, but the factual stories were fascinating pieces of history I hadn't heard about in such detail before.

My favorite of the entire bunch was Finding Lady Enderly, as it leaped up into my top-two favorites for the year, joining Whose Waves These Are by Amanda Dykes.

It depends on what the group wants. If it seems like everyone wants a break for a couple month, then I can hold off until January. :D

This might seem a bit off-topic, but what are some of everyone's favorite Bible verses? I'm asking for the next challenge I'm preparing. ;)

Oooo. Intriguing!

Old Testament
Joshua 24:15 "...as for me and house, we will serve the Lord."
1 Samuel 16:7 "...the Lord looketh upon the heart."
Psalms 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet..."
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart..."
Isaiah 53:4 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows..."
(Well, pretty much any scripture sung in the Messiah.)
Amos 3:7 "...he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."

New Testament
Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men..."
Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me... and I will give you rest."
John 6:69 "And we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ..."
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through God which strengthenth me."
James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..."
3 John :4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."

Andrea, I did enjoy A Distance Too Grand. I'm trying to gather my thoughts so I can get my review written.

message 214: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I know what you mean about gathering thoughts on books prior to writing reviews. That can be so complex sometimes!

Hey, I left a quick question for you on my team's review thread, about points for one book.
