Meet & Greet Challenge Round 6 (Oct/Nov): READING
MountainKat wrote: "I finished two more of my picks this week! I'm up to nine. =)Anita's pick: Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout - not really my taste, but I needed to read it for a couple of challenges so I was really glad you picked it for me. It gave me just that extra push a I needed to get through it!"
I'm sorry it wasn't completely what you were looking for, but glad you could use it for some challenges in stead.
Becky, thanks for recommending
I enjoyed it even though I had read it previously under a different name.

I enjoyed it even though I had read it previously under a different name."I'm glad you enjoyed the re-read! I have the Callahan Brothers series on my schedule and I'm eager to check out the author.
Sunshine, thanks for recommending
. It was powerfully emotional and I fell through the pages after the halfway point. It was a great book!
Jane (PS) - I read Darkfever and didn't love it as much as I wanted to. The second half picked up some and I did it enjoy it. I rated it 3 stars, but do plan on continuing the series. Thanks for the pick!~Melissa~ - I read Midnight Awakening and loved it! I've really enjoyed this series and can't wait to continue it. I rated it 5 stars. Thanks for the pick!
Penney finished
- Loved it. Ash and Janvier's was one of the best relationships I've read. And boy Janvier was so amazing!!

Amie wrote: "Jane (PS) - I read Darkfever and didn't love it as much as I wanted to. The second half picked up some and I did it enjoy it. @Aarati: I gave One Dance with a Duke ★★★½ because I didnt enjoy it much. I actually found it a tad slow. I am not keen on book 2, but I will try it sometime. @Anita: I really loved Soulless ★★★★½. It was different and quirky. Good stuff.
@Beppy: I don't know if I expected Summer Son to be Teacups & Tattoos which i loved, but it didn't hit the spot. It was ★★★½ for me. I liked it but had issues with the MC's judgement considering he had a kid.
@ MountainKat: Hidden Away was a great audiobook ★★★★½. After book 1, I actually thought this series was subpar. This is why I try to read book 2 & 3 before quitting a series. I loved book 2 & now 3!
@~Leslie~: Night Game was really good like ★★★★½. Great H/h. I have the sequel ready for Nov.
@Preethi: Written in Red was the most creative book I've read in a while.I gave it ★★★★½. I will definitely try book 2.
@Ella: you know I thought Moon was going the way of Obsidian and it's unethical issues, but the good doctor did the right thing. I gave it ★★★½.
THANK YOU FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS

Ezi - I'm glad you liked it. I have plans to read it soon, so it definitely makes me want to start it even sooner.
i started Out of Bight, Out of Mind last night that was recommended to me by jane - I remember why I loved some of TD's quirky writing - when you get phrases like supernova shitfaced to describe being passed out drunk
Finished Out of Bight, Out of Mind that was recommended by Jane - oh that poor crew - been through so much in the series - I hope things calm down for them when it continues but I doubt it will - thanks for the recommend jane
I finished listening Dana's pick, Judgment in Death, today - loved it! Thank you so much for a reason to read another of this series!Starting tomorrow, I'll probably start one or two more - have to wait for November so I can use them for the November challenges.
Dee wrote: "Finished Out of Bight, Out of Mind that was recommended by Jane - oh that poor crew - been through so much in the series - I hope things calm down for them when it continues but I d..."I'm glad you had a few chuckles Dee :)
Tymber likes torturing her characters for sure - but i tweeted her after and she is writing some more books in the series (yay)
also finished up Azagoth that was recommended to me by Shelby - this is probably one of my favorites since her demonica books - the horseman books for the most part were a let-down, but I liked Azagoth and Lilliana
Group 3Finished 15 of 35
Bonus picks:
Grace - Finished Texas Destiny. I love historical westerns and this one was great! Such a sweet story.
Aarati - Simply Irresistible was a five star read. I stayed up late and was up at the crack of dawn to finish it. It was a lot of fun and a nice change of pace. Can't wait to download the rest of the Lucky Harbor series!
Tabs - Moving on to begin: Show No Mercy
Thank, Ladies! It's been a great month!
Amie wrote: "Jane (PS) - I read Darkfever and didn't love it as much as I wanted to. The second half picked up some and I did it enjoy it. The only book I thoroughly enjoyed was Shadowfever
Ezinwanyi~the Troublemaker wrote: "@Aarati: I gave One Dance with a Duke ★★★½ because I didnt enjoy it much. I actually found it a tad slow. I am not keen on book 2, but I will try it sometime. @Anita: I really love..."
Ezi: It was 3.5 starer for me too. I actuallu buped down the rating to 3 stars. Lot of horse talk and thinking back I didn't really like Spencer all that much!

picks i have read:zara Hard Feelings 4 stars i really liked the characters and the story.
karenh Sinner's Gin 5 stars i loved the family dynamics
roger Billionaire with Benefits 4 stars i enjoyed this one, but it almost felt as though it was lacking a little bit of story.
bonus picks
preethi Binding the Shadows 5 stars charley's usual pratfalls, with the added bonus of reyes actually being a part of the proceedings
susan a Not Knowing Jack 4 stars i liked the book, but i didn't really like the way that jack kept keeping secrets from tony.
laurla Acting Out 3 stars both characters were really young and kind of acted that way.
lizz neill Private Eye 3 stars a little bit too much insta love for me, but well written.
karla BTW I Love You 3 stars i liked the growth in the relationship between the main characters
Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ wrote: "Sunshine, thanks for recommending

finished
- seriously, the Guild Hunters are my crack and I'm a junkie needing a fix. Thanks for the pick, Ella, Elise, Ramneek, and everyone else!
Dee wrote: "i started Out of Bight, Out of Mind last night that was recommended to me by jane - I remember why I loved some of TD's quirky writing - when you get phrases like supernova shitface..."Thanks to you, I have completely glommed this series this past weekend. I'm now on the 3rd book lol. super quick, spicy reads. Plus, you know I loves me some space opera.
she has a huge backlist - but those are really her only sci-fi type ones aside from Acquainted with the Night - the rest of either contemp romance w/ bdsm or paranormal
Zara--Group 2I finished your pick, All They Need. I thought this was good but wasn't the best one I've read by this author. The heroine went through some really crappy stuff at the hands of her husband. And the hero was going through some things too, but they seemed to be a balm for each other to help them heal.
I felt like the middle part dragged for me a bit, but the ending was great. I would have liked them to have been moved along a bit more by the epilogue but I can extrapolate the HEA.
Group 3Finished 17 of 35
Tabs - Show No Mercy was fantastic! Lots of excitement and a strong couple. Loved it and can't wait to read Sam's story.
Katie - Caressed by Ice surprised me. In the first two books I didn't really connect with the couple, but this installment was great! Judd was really cool (no pun intended) and I really liked the way he resolved his issues with the Silence protocol. I'm bumping that series up on my TBR.
Beppy - Starting No Rest for the Wicked next!

I'm so glad you liked it, Becky! That's definitely my favorite of the series so far. :)
Grp 3 14/15Picked by Larissa Ask and I'll Tell ★★★ I liked parts of the story, but the sex scenes were really porn-like and I didn't like that.
picked by Dee General Misconduct ★★★ I usually enjoy LA Witt books. She writes good stories and great sex scenes. This really isn't an exception. There is nothing wrong with this book -- I just don't like reading about young couples. I'm glad I read this mostly because of the parts with the couple from the first book.
Picked by Joyce Quid Pro Quo and I am the idiot who couldn't manage her TBR correctly, so instead of reading this book 2, I read short stories 2.1 Unlucky Break, 2.2 Friday and 2.3 Pancakes.
Bonus Picks 11/21
picked by Becky One Eyed Jacks ★★★ Interesting, but a bit too short
picked by Beppy The Mark of a Man ★★★★ OMG! Cliffhanger!!! I already have the 2nd book - -this is the kind of cliff hanger that makes readers want to kill authors. Fortunately, I don't have to wait.
Jane PS Better Than Friends ★★★★★ This is just a great series.
Thanks for these picks!
started the audiobook of Up From the Grave today - personally, not a huge fan of the narrator, but i'm having less reading time with commute and stuff - so audiobook is it

Tabs - Show No Mercy was fantastic! Lots of excitement and a strong couple. Loved it and can't wait to read Sam's story."
Glad you enjoyed it! I've read books 2 and 3 in that series and really liked how capable and level-headed the heroines were. Need to go back to this one.
Susan A wrote: "Jane PS Better Than Friends ★★★★★ This is just a great series..."I SO want to read this one, but I'm not letting myself pick up books that aren't related back to a challenge. Nevermind - I'm having some great successes :)

had to put Up From the Grave aside because the CD was too scratched to listen to - at least 3 chapters missing on the one CD that i couldn't listen to - so i'll have to read itmoved on to Bones Are Forever - recommended by Joyce

That is SO frustrating! I used to get that regularly with library CDs - now I can't be bothered and I'm all Audible or direct download from the library...
This is the worst I've had - been doing a lot of CD's lately - but I told the librarians - didn't just return it (like most do - I think)
Grp 3 14/15Bonus picks 14/21
Ezi's pick Nothing Special ★★★★ Simple dating story. I like this author. Jay Northcote
Tab's pick Stranger on the Shore ★★★★★ Loved the mystery. The romance was a little lacking.
Sunshine's pick Caged: Love and Treachery on the High Seas ★★★★★ This was so much fun! Adventure, suspense, mystery, heartbreak, sex...it had it all. I'm so glad book 2 is available.
THanks for these picks!
Lily - I finished up Against the Night by Kat Martin last night and loved it! I don't know why it had taken me so long to get back to the series, but I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks for the pick!
Group 3Finished 21 of 35
Beppy - No Rest for the Wicked was pretty good. I liked that there was more action/adventure in this one. Sebastian was a neat character, but all of these books tend to be "instalove" because of the chosen/mated thing. I still enjoyed it though and will keep up with the series. I have to know what happens with Bowen.
Vi - Cry No More was such an emotionally charged book! I felt so bad for Milla, but loved how she clawed her way back and never gave up her search. It was a great book!
Susan A. - The Outsider was a neat historical western. The Plain Folk were terribly self-righteous, but I could really feel Rachel's struggle with her decision. The romance with Cain built slowly and realistically, leading to an ending that had me on pins and needles.
Melissa - Mortal Danger was exciting and a real page turner for me. I'm enjoying this series more and more. Loved the dragons!
Penney - Started The Darkest Hour and I'm enjoying it so far.
Thanks, Everyone!

Thank you to everyone for picking such great books I have really enjoyed each and everyone of them. I hope to be able to complete the remaining books before the month is up...fingers crossed :)
a bit more finished...
- not as much of a fan of this as I was for the first two books. in fact, wanted to punch the girl.
- I do have some zombie love. soooo much potential here but then it just petered out...
- nice, short read. nothing too dramatic, but definitely didn't have an emotional impact as the first two in the series.
- issue here is with the narrator, who's not bad, but definitely could use some variation training. Still, Ann Aguirre knows how to pack a punch. stopped the streak of meh reads lately. can't wait to read the next one.
- fun read, refreshing to read about a dude who's not afraid to explore a relationship instead of running away, denying his feelings. Not sure it ranks a place on the GR Best Romance Nominee list tho.... Thanks, Grace, Jojo, Gea, Leslie, Skandia, and others!

Thank you for picking this one. In the beginning I didn't have much thought for this one. I didn't really like Oriana, but I liked how she developed through the story. I really liked Max and Sloan, but wasn't a big fan of Dominik. Thank's for picking it. I don't think I would have read it in the near future had you not picked it for me.
