August - Off to See the Wizard!
Love it. I'm back from holiday that weekend . Not sure if I'll fit anything in or not .I'll check my tbr just in case .
I have several books that fit, but I am not sure I can finish in 24 hrs, though. I need to keep looking.
Here are my possibilities:Tasks:
Toto - a dog on the cover or as the main character. ☊☊Ruff vs. Fluff
*Scarecrow - (brain) Read a nonfiction book. ☊Silver Screen Fiend
Tin Man - (heart) Read a romance book.
Chance Assassin: Lion - (courage) Read a horror book. ☊☊The Picture of Dorian Gray
Glinda - Read a book with a witch as a main character.
The Book of Shadows *Munchkins - Read a book of short stories. ☊Good Behavior
Wicked Witch of the West - with water on the cover. ☊☊We Live in Water
Flying Monkeys - Read a book in the fantasy genre. ☊☊Mort(e)
The Wizard - Read a book that includes magic. ☊☊Ship of Magic
None of my planned reads for the month fit the toppler, so I'm going back to the Wayward Children series and reading In an Absent Dream for Flying Monkeys - Read a book in the fantasy genre. This will kill off the series for me until the next book comes out in 2020.
Too bad I did not save the audiobook that I am currently listening to. It is short stories of Sherlock Holmes, written by Lyndsay Faye and narrated by Simon Vance.
This looks good. I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan, so count me in! Thanks Kristie for coming up with this toppler.
I love this idea, Kristie! First thing that comes to mind is Interpreter of Maladies for short stories, but I will do some gophering later to have more options.
Looking forward to the Toppler. Will gopher a bit, now!------
Ok, I came up with:
Non-fiction: Autobiography of a Face
Horror: Secret Circles
I love the Wizard of Oz; what a great toppler idea! Count me in. Not sure what I will read yet - will have a look closer to the weekend.
I will be listening to Tamed by a Highlander
for the Tin Man - read a Romance book. This will be for my monthly challenge book entry.
I think I'll read Glorious Weakness: Discovering God in All We Lack for Scarecrow - (brain) Read a nonfiction book.If I have time, maybe The Story of Everything: How You, Your Pets, and the Swiss Alps Fit Into God's Plan for the World for Toto - Read a book with a dog on the cover or as the main character.
I woke up this morning and remembered it was Toppler day tomorrow! So I have to do all my chores today, and find a book. Not a terrible Saturday. And seeing it was snowing all last night, it's not a bad way at all to spend this weekend. As usual, the snow didn't settle, but it's so so cold for us.
I'm still not sure what I will read. As the toppler doesn't start for me until 5pm, I may read a short story collection, The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night
or I may listen to The Night Circus
as I have been in a real cross stitching mood at the moment.

I hope you enjoy it Margo. I have Lanny out from the library but have yet to start it.

I changed my mind because I will need a audiobook to be able to fit the toppler this weekend. I will listen to Brújulas que buscan sonrisas perdidas for the task "water on the cover".

Already added one! Thanks Margo...I think.☻
Arggh, had to change my plan, a girlfriend is picking me up at 6:30 for a bonfire that may realistically go all night . . . so, I am going to take a swing at Hidden Blade.Good luck everybody :)
TrudyAn wrote: "I’ll be reading The Humans

It is off to a good start.

Good luck Jenn! My morning plans became afternoon plans, so we'll see how far I can get.

I have that book also, but with a different cover.
It's one that has sat on my physical bookshelf forever. I'd mostly forgotten about it.
I've been in a peculiar mood lately. I'm having a hard time reading new-to-me books. I'd rather read old favorites. So that's what I'm going to do today.I'm starting off with a romance (Tin Man). I'm reading As You Are.
I'm reading Secret Circles for horror. Just got back from a nice breakfast with my sis, Almeta, and running by the library. My hubby is out running errands, so I have no distractions... for now. Now it's time to buckle down!
I'm going with The Night Circus. Hubby is cooking the dinner and is under strict instructions to only disturb me if bringing food and drink!
Amanda wrote: "I woke up sick. :( But at least it gives me an excuse to lay in bed and read."I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Amanda. But you're right; it's the perfect excuse to stay in bad and read!
I moved me and all my stuff outside to read and watch the birds. Threw down some seed for them... and the squirrels. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Michigan. and not too hot or humid. Ahhhhhh. the feel of grass under my bare feet. This is the life!

I believe you've got a chair in your car, Almeta. lolI'm afraid I got engrossed in bird watching. chatting with passersby, and then Jeff joined me. Didn't get much reading done! I'm fed and back to my book.
