Amanda | 1788 comments Finished my book, off to report.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Looks like a lot of finishes whilst I was trying to get some beauty sleep lol. I have 5 hours or so left in my audio book.

message 61: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I finished Lanny. It was wonderful. The audio production was really magical.

Sorry for not being more present for this one, I've had a migraine. The worst was over by the start time so I was happy to lie on my bed a listen last night.

message 62: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments I was late to start due to unplanned friend catch ups. Half way through Magic Strikes

Finished dinner, paid some bills, watched a show, and now back to it. Hopefully I can finish before bed. Toppler finishes at 2am my time, but I hope i don't need to use that time...

message 63: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I've got a miserable cold, but managed to finish my book a little while ago. I didn't do any chatting as I was either coughing or blowing my nose, so not in a friendly frame of mind. :( It sounds like some great books are being read, and several have made it on to my tbr. Topplers are always dangerous!

message 64: by jaxnsmom (last edited Aug 11, 2019 05:23AM) (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Almeta - I see one of your possibilities was Chance Assassin. Frank and Vincent may fall in love, but it's really not a romance book. I think you'll really like these two, and then you'll have to get all the books in the series because you won't be able to stay away from them. And there's a spin-off series - The Mako Shark. (They're all on kindle unlimited if you have it, or want to do the 30 day trial)

message 65: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Margo, I'm sorry to hear about your migraine and hope you're feeling better now. I added Lanny to my TBR. I bought it on audible.

Jaxnsmom, you're not feeling well, either. Hope your cold goes away soon. I will look into the series starting with Chance Assasin. It sounds good. If I get it on kindle, I can share with Almeta since she's listed as family on my Amazon account.

Rusulka, you have quite a social life! Seems like there are always people coming and going at your place. Hope you had fun with your friends. You usually report some wild times. Hope you get your book done in time.

Anna and Amanda, congrats!

Jeff and I are off to Kensington Metropark this morning, so I'll not be here for this finish.

Happy reading, everyone!

Almeta - Just wanted to make sure that you saw the whole task. The book for Dorothy needs a female MC as well.

"Dorothy - Read a debut by a female author with a female main character."

Lilisa | 2770 comments Didn't end up being able to participate but I think Almeta more than made up for me :-) - nice going everyone and feel better Margo and Jaxnsmom.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Another great Toppler, Kristie. Thanks for all your hard work!

message 71: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Jaxnsmom, I also just bought the Kindle books for the Jon's mystery series. It sounds like a lot of fun. I'll share with Almeta.

Ooops. Well I'm glad to have read it anyway! Plus it qualified for the yearly MM challengel.

*grin* I'm pretty sure that I picked up this one based on your rating! Now you are giving even more reason to pursue the series. Thanks for your comments.

I didn't use it for the Toppler, but will read it soon.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Lol Debra, you make my life sound much more fun!

message 76: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments I've finished my book. It's 1.16am. I need to work tomorrow. And my eyes are so tired they are not focusing properly and everything has a shadow. I will report in the morning.

But yay! Toppler!

message 77: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Thanks Kristie for another imaginative Toppler. It is always fun to gopher for appropriate qualifications.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Thanks, Kristie! I am a fan of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz so I couldn't miss this one!

message 79: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments So, I’m definitely not finishing in time (darn thoughtless friends having bonfires on a toppled night 😣), but I will still be able to find a place for it in MM. And, it is a perfect read while I nurse my thick head lol Awesome toppler, congrats on all of the finishes 😃

message 80: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments You had plenty of other books that fit, Almeta! Way to go!

I finished my book with just a few minutes to spare.

That’s it for the toppler! Hope you all had fun! Don’t forget to report with your WoF name in the reporting thread.

I hope you enjoy it! I slept all day and am thinking about making some tea.

Thanks Kristie, for a fun toppler!

message 82: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments I've recovered some what with 5 hours sleep. But so worth it. I finished a 24 hour Toppler lol

Thanks for another fun Toppler, Kristie!

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't finish my book in the end - I went to the pub instead lol.

message 85: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I did not check in and out, but I was listening to my book, when I could all day Saturday and early into the morning on Sunday.
My refrigerator died and we were cleaning out stuff and shopping. We are living out of an ice chest until the new one arrives Thursday.

message 86: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments That’s awful Cherie. Glad you’re getting a replacement so quickly.

message 87: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments It had been going for a while, Kristie. I just didn’t want to throw any more money at it. A service call six months ago kept it going for a little while longer. It slowly passed away last week and we let it go. Mostly all of the food was cleaned out. We are pretending to be camping in the kitchen until the new one arrives. The lack of produce and frozen vegetables for Tim is the only real hardship.

message 88: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments We just got a new fridge, but we had a 10 month ordeal getting there. Our fridge died without warning (it was only 1½ years old!) and we had purchased the extended warranty, so we had to go through the company we purchased it from. We went without a fridge for 4 months before they fixed it the first time, then it just kept breaking down randomly until they finally agreed to replace it 10 months later. We bought a little dorm fridge that we were living out of, but it was crazy. I had to sit on the floor and reorganize every time I wanted to get something out. We made it through Thanksgiving like that the first time it broke. Ugh

message 89: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments A work friend definitely suggested buying the Extended Warranty when I purchased the new fridge. He told me about his ordeals with his new fridge, and it was similar to yours.

Apparently, they do not make them like they used to. The one that just died was over 15 years old and the one before that had to have been over 20. I owned my mother's old one for the first 10 years I was married, and I have no idea how old it was. It really never died. We kept it out in the garage for soda after we bought a new one. I finally sold it in a garage sale. It was still working. My over 40 yo chest freezer is now living with my daughter. It was just too big for me.

I think this is my first 24 hour toppler, as well.

message 92: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments Cherie - I bought a high end Kenmore. I thought they were a good brand but apparently they’re junk now. After reading many reviews it’s very common for the brand to completely die within just a couple of years and unfortunately their service (Sears) was appalling.

Jannene - I didn’t realize this was the first 24 hour toppler you completed. Congrats to the first timers!
