Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Sorry Beth - those were just books I was reading to finish other challenges. My current book does not have any N.

message 252: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments OK, if Chafic doesn't show up by tonight, I will advertise in the Find a Team Thread for a replacement. Although we can also pull in friends, so if you know anyone up for a super short challenge, let me know! I looked at the FAQ and we just have to PM the mods to make the switch.

Say 10 hours from now I'll advertise, so Chafic has until then to show up, or if you guys have someone in mind speak up.

Beth | 1659 comments I played around a little with our letters. I think the smart teams make a new tab to the spreadsheet for that, but I don't dare!

Anyway, I know have us looking for both "N" and "S". Maritza, you came up with "U" and "Y" -- you are doing great!

I left "A" up there because it seems like so many books have an "A" lying around in characters or something. So if anyone wants to fill that in for another accidental read go for it.

If we trip across an "I" I think we can move WAS to WITH. One of our As is also an H.

message 254: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Finished Bad Boys of Fashion: Style Rebels and Renegades Through the Ages by Jennifer Croll. Not sure where it fits in though.

message 255: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments No nibbles on a replacement yet.

message 256: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments I should finish an "I" book, so I'm changing WAS to WITH. Partly because we don't seem to be getting points for the letter A.

message 257: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments With one day left, will we have any more books to make letters with? Or should I mess around with what we have?

message 258: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments I thought round was over. I finished book but didn't post because of that
Quiet Country by Colbie Kay read 09/21/19
Characters - Bear, Jacey, Ever, Hangar, Snake, Ripper

message 259: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments I will finish Revenge by James Patterson and Andrew Holmes by the end of this round

message 260: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments OK, the spreadsheet now has my best attempt at using all our books, and I think I somehow messed things up because some of the letters aren't getting the right points. I'm going to go hide in my closet now and then I guess get up the nerve to creep over to tell the moderators that something is wrong.

I have a call out on the team thread but it's not looking good -- two other teams ahead of us called for a replacement this week. If we have any friends who read we can pull them in; I think the next two weeks is the last, right? Anyone know someone up for a two week challenge?

message 261: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Oh, I guess we should grab spots for books on round 4.

message 262: by Maritza (last edited Sep 22, 2019 02:51PM) (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Lets see what i find for round 4.

message 263: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Wow, this week we overshot and landed in Crater territory (we read 11 books in the second week, 12 if I finish this one I'm holding).

I was whining about my team being short at family dinner this weekend and my brother said he could probably read 2-3 books in the next few weeks. I'll show him the spreadsheet to see what he thinks. He doesn't use goodreads much but since he's my brother he can't escape me!

message 264: by Chava (new)

Beth, I love that GR challenges are so much part of your life that you raise it at family dinners!!!

message 265: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Chava wrote: "I will finish Revenge by James Patterson and Andrew Holmes by the end of this round"

I have like 10 pages left. Do you want me to hold off until the next challenge?

message 266: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Morning guys. Thanks to Beth's brother for helping out. Chava your book won't count for next round anyway, I think!!!
Am reading for another challenge before I pick book for team.

message 267: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments I found a book where character lives on farm / ranch that I can start tomorrow.

message 268: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Chava, if you didn't finish we need to turn ourselves in, because I wasn't paying attention and didn't really notice that you weren't done yet. I used it to make a word!

And Maritza is right -- this challenge is very strict and can't use books from one week to the other. Anything started last week is no good to us in Round 4 -- Echidna season!

message 269: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Hi, I will be joining your team. Thanks for accepting me Beth, and I can't wait to play.

message 270: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Hey, I requested access to the spreadsheet.

message 271: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Hey welcome Wolf (Alpha) thanks for stepping in.

message 272: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments And to be clear, this is not my brother, which is good because it turns out my bro isn't sure he has a goodreads account. I would have forced him to make one, but it's better to have a REAL PLAYER. Welcome, Wolf (Alpha).

If just clicking on that link didn't get you access you can send one of us your email and we can add you directly. I think I had to do that for some of us. I don't know why -- it says anyone with the link can access but I guess some people are more equal than others...

message 273: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Oh Beth, I thought that was your brother. He would have been real unless you were going to make up a new account :)))

message 274: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Okay, let me try again and if not, I'll send my email to you. And really quick to clarify, I am a girl. I know when you look at my username and profile pic you think boy, but nope, I'm a girl from birth.

message 275: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Okay, so I clicked the link and it's saying view only. So I sent you my email address Beth.

message 276: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Sorry Wolf (Alpha). Do you go by the whole thing or just Wolf?

The boy thing was mostly because I had just strong-armed my brother into maybe joining the team, but I'm not sure he even has a goodreads account and he hates following rules, so he was sorta a last ditch option. We'd much rather have you!

I made another attempt at sharing the spreadsheet.

message 277: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Just Wolf is fine. And lol, I did the same thing a few years back.

message 278: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Okay!! I'm in. Spreadsheet works.

message 279: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Hi Wolf!! Welcome

Maritza, I saw your message and finished the book

message 280: by Beth (last edited Sep 23, 2019 02:49PM) (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Whew!

I've grabbed my spot for my next book.

My audio this week is the last Aurora Teagarden book, so it works for Task 7. But it's CD only and I can only listen in the car at regular speed so it probably won't be done until Friday or even later. I'm going to go ahead and grab that spot but if anyone else is reading something that fits you can steal it from me since it will take me ages.

message 281: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Is the new week up already?

message 282: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Good Morning. Yes Chava it's up.

message 283: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Maritza wrote: "Good Morning. Yes Chava it's up."

Thank you. I'll look what I can read for.
Goodnight from me :)

Maritza, I saw your message and finished the book"

Hi Chava, thanks.

message 285: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments I finished 2 of my books and am about to finish Treasure Island.

message 286: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Woot! Thanks for joining this team Wolf!

I have started both of my books and will probably finish one tomorrow, but the audio is going slow (for #7, 7 of higher in the series). So if someone else finishes something that fits please just grab that from me off the spreadsheet.

I know it's early, but do we want to look at the Safe Zones? Zone 2 still looks beyond me but do we want to try Zone 1? Remember we can't start these books until we finish the countdown.

We need one of the five to be a book from the BOM lists or from another's teams spreadsheet. Do we want to fill out possibilities that we have (but won't start yet) and see if we can do it?

message 287: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments Sounds good to me. I can pretty much get whatever book I want, so if needed I can read for that one.

message 288: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments So, I got a cold or something and reading has been going very slowly. I'm hoping to finish my mystery tomorrow (meant to be done today, oops). I'm even further behind on my audio, ack, but I've skipped some errands and had less driving time.

I have found something published on the 4th of the month, so when I'm finally done I'll start The Cobbler's Boy.

Also, the mystery I'm reading for task 10 is the 16th in a series, so it can be swapped in for task Task 7. If anyone else wants to read something with something spiky on the cover, we can swap around.

message 289: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 167 comments I hope you get better soon. Colds suck. If needed I can go ahead and find something to replace your audio and get started on reading it.

message 290: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Chava, Maritza, do you have any more books planned for this week? We usually get until Sunday to finish so I think we are still on track, unless the mods get mean...

message 291: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Current book does not fit any tasks right now.

message 292: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments We still need

8. Author from Mediterranean
7. 7 or higher in series (I have an audio, but only half done)
6. Adventure (I think Wolf is almost done with this one)
4. Published on 4th of month (I just started one here)

My book for
10. Spikey thing on cover also works for #7, so if anyone has a book with something spiky on it we can switch out for that.

Also, I read Bound by Ice: A True North Pole Survival Story which I just noticed is tagged "Adventure" so if Wolf is hating Treasure Island she can bail. Or if the cover has any pirates waving spiky things like daggers we can move things around.

message 293: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Would you say this is spiky? Unconventional by Aleatha Romig

message 294: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Well, those are spike heels, right? That seems spiky to me. Do you want me to ask in the "Does This Fit This Task" thread?

message 295: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Yes is so i can put on ss as i read it yesterday.

message 296: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments I have book published on 4th i started yesterday that i can finish at least by tomorrow.

message 297: by Chava (last edited Sep 28, 2019 05:38AM) (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Do we still need 8. Author from Mediterranean?

If so, I've started The Shape of Water by Italian author Andrea Camilleri
