Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

done, but again can't get the hyperlink to work, sorry

Also, I'm zooming through a mystery series on audio, so I've had a bunch of books this week. Next week I run out of kids to drive to college, so my audio consumption will drop back down to one or two a month.

Can someone do an O? We could turn it into OF. (Task 3)
I don't see anyone signing up for the R or U, but OF is a good enough word.
Is anyone going to claim more tasks for Round 2? So far I only see me and Chava on the spreadsheet. Is the spreadsheet hard to see? I don't mind updating it for people but I like to use it to see what we are doing since it's not a moving target like the discussion thread.

If no one else has read a U book by tonight I'll try to get it in.

Still here, I'm way behind in updating my challenges. Yes I have access to the spreadsheet.
I've got quite a few books done already but they don't work for FOUR.
I've got The President Is Missing , Daughters of the Lake and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz done for this week.
None of the characters fit any of the higher scoring letters though.

Maritza, no problem!
In general, especially at the end, let's talk about what's in doubt, because it's better to get points for smaller words than to lose all the points for incompletes. I hate leaving points on the table! But I didn't want to move your stuff around without hearing from you. The deadline in the middle of the night for most of us is sure inconvenient.
I've started my audio and print books for Round 2!
Looking ahead, I can't see anything that would work for Stage 2 next week. I have a feeling we will skip that one again.

Title starts with O

I was confused because there is a task in Round 2 Countdown that is Book Starts With O, but if you started that one on Sunday then it's not eligible there either.

From the Lava rules:
"Books for each round need to be started AFTER the round begins. So, for example, in round one if you start a book, it is a good idea to find the short words in safezone group 3 you can assign it to before the deadline for round one as you won't be able to use it for round two!"

From the Lava rules:
"Books for each round..."
Shoot you're right. I completely forgot about that.
I'll remove the book. Started it on the 24th.
I got a book I started that I can use for either 500+ pages / Black Cover.
So I'll just remove the date and if you have a book for either then I'll just move mine to the other.

I also had same concern about Chafic's book - glad it was addressed. Striving for no penalties this round and more chatting.

I should finish my C-A-T book soon (an audio). I have a Canadian book that should be quick, and a longer Black Cover so I'm hoping someone else does that one.

Oh, Obviously
I'm struggling to get into my other O book and this is a quick audiobook I can listen to while doing my work tomorrow.

It looks legit -- I mean, in the letter of the law it isn't tagged as CHILDRENS and in the spirit of the law it looks long enough to qualify anyway.
Does anyone have a shot at a black book? The only one on my shelves is about 500 pages. I'd rather find something else fun and let Chafic's chunkster be the black book.

I'm still on my Aurora Teagarden audio kick so I should be able to cover A.

Thanks to who updated the spreadsheet for me. I actually read both O books in the end. So, in the end, you put the adult one up and that is the safest bet. Thanks!

Looking at it right now, I'd read my next Aurora Teagarden for A, and Maritza has an I ready, but neither of those are BOM picks. We still need a C and a D, and they should be books we'll finish fairly quickly. Then we can start spelling things out.

But I won't start until I hear that the 400+ page book is done.

Do we need to have something from each team member in the countdown? I have a book club book that I will finish tomorrow that is 433 pages. If I haven't heard back from Chafic by the time I wake up tomorrow (I'm on PST on the American west coast) I could swap that in.
In general for the team I would say that there is no problem if something comes up and we can't read what we planned, but it would be much easier if we can talk about it.
As soon as the ten tasks are done, we can start working on ACID and then other spell it outs. But we can't start reading for them until the Countdown 10 are done, and we can't finish one group ahead of the other.
