They were all ebook novellas except the cookbook. This is the first time I've been able to read fiction in the month and a half since my brother died unexpectedly. I don't usually use so many novella's, but it's getting me started back into reading fiction again.
I understand about the reading fiction thing. When my Grandad died, I just couldn't read at all but esp. fiction. For me, it was just that I didn't want my life to just carry on like normal, like his passing hadn't meant anything. So it took me a while to get back into reading and I was very careful for a while that there weren't too many HEA's cos that would set me off. My heart goes out to you, I could never imagine the loss of one of my brothers. God bless you and may his angels always surround you and your family. Wendy
Thanks Wendy. I don't know exactly why I havn't been able to read fiction. I just didn't feel like it. I've read alot of non-fiction, but skipped around between books so really havn't finished anything other than cookbooks. It took me 2 days to read a 34 page ebook (finished yesterday), and now reading short ebooks and novella's. Today's reading only adds up to 112 pages, so it still isn't much. I'm just picking stuff that fits categories. But it's a start. I think his death hit me so hard because it was so tragic and unexpected. He was 44. He was a married father of 4 who was on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach. He saved one of his sons but couldn't get out of the water himself and drown.
That is so tragic. It will take some time for you to work not only through the grief but through the shock of losing him. No one should be lost at that age (my age). Just read what you feel comfortable with whether it fits categories or not, but it might be nice for you to have another 'focus.' Glad to see you back on here anyway
Thanks Wendy/LibraryLass. I actually miss disappearing for awhile in my books. I finally got back into reading some fiction today but no story was longer than 15 pages. Nothing where you really got involved with characters. I know I'll get there. I thought I might reread something familiar to get me started. Lately I've been watching more movies than I have been and reading cookbooks and copying recipes out as I do. Keeps me busy and I'm trying new recipes out as I go. I finished Grandma's Wartime Kitchen World War II and the Way We Cooked (Which I didn't realize I'd read many years ago but now have a copy of as it was hard to find) and rereading the library's copy of Stories and Recipes of the Great Depression of the 1930's and More From Your Kitchen Today. I'm finding more recipes this time that I didn't copy down last time.
Some days I spend so much time on here that I have no time to read. I annoy myself but just can't help it ;)
