It's been a few months since Damon and Yuki met at a party. Practically inseparable since then Damon feels it's time to give his lover a sign of his commitment. He buys a ring and takes Yuki on a skiing vacation.
Yuki is thrilled with the ring but not with Damon's sudden questioning of his spanking fetish. Despite not wanting to talk about his past Yuki quickly gives in and shares his painful memories with his lover. With things out in the open Damon is able to help Yuki work through some of his feelings regarding his past and soon the lovers are once again enjoying their vacation and each other.
This was a nice story. I liked both Damon and Yuki. Damon is a very caring man and it's obvious that he loves Yuki very much. Even though at first he's hesitant about the spankings and other BDSM elements Yuki introduces him to he soon finds he likes it almost as much as Yuki. Aside from the couple of scenes where Damon and Yuki are discussing Yuki's past the story is an uncomplicated sweet romance. The sex was hot and the BDSM element in the story is lite and mainly consists of spankings.
Damon's best friend, Curtis, was a fun and engaging secondary character and a good foil for Damon as he first struggles with the decision to get a ring for his lover and then later on shares in their happiness as they finally commit to each other and move in together.
Overall this was a nicely written story. I liked the characters and their relationship was interesting. The issue of Yuki's past adds just a touch of angst to an otherwise uncomplicated story. It's an easy read with a happy ending.

But during a brief vacation in Canada, Yuki proves to Damon that power is not only about physic strenght, and that it's not cause Damon is bigger that he is on top: he is on top cause Yuki wants him to be in that role and Yuki is a master in the art of topping from the bottom. He can really draws Damon to do all he wants, but Damon will prove to Yuki that only with trust and love they can build something together.
Yuki is a very interesting character, the "classical" cute bottom I like: not someone who gives up power cause he has no voice in it, but cause he choices to let someone else takes in hand the matter. In this relationship Damon and Yuki are very balanced: and even if tradition says that japanese men are very reserved, in this tale is Damon who plays the role of strong man of less words.
A very enjoyble reading, maybe a little short but it's really a tale about a short breaktime for a couple to know each other better, so it's a right long.
And as always Anne Cain's cover is gorgeous!

A pretty sweet romance between two well realized and interesting characters. I enjoyed the flow, the sex scenes were good and I liked the discussions of trust and respect. I do wish thought that there had been more. It felt like this was the middle third of a longer work, and I would have loved to read that longer work.

Pas grand chose. C'était bien écrit et les personnages étaient assez vivant pour que j'eus un pincement au cœur lors d'une de leurs disputes. Par contre, cela confirme que je ne suis pas du tout attirée par le BDSM, même lite.

Ok kinky m/m romance about two guys who are rushing into a relationship without knowing a lot about each other. This one just didn't quite work - it felt like sections were missing.

I liked these guys but this wasn't long enough for me to get invested in this couple. I wished this was longer just so the inner workings of this relationship had more time to develop.
