Question of the Day
I finished 4 books in June and started reading another one but didn't finish it before the end of the month. I don't really have a favorite or least favorite. They were all 4-star reads for me.
I finished 3 books in June.Favorite: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
Least Favorite: Falling for Gage by Mia Sheridan.
I read 9 books last month. Shanghailanders by Juli Min was definitely my least favorite.
My favorites were My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones and Three Apples Fell from the Sky by Narine Abgaryan
Honorable mention: Blessings by Chukwuebuka Ibeh
..
Finished: 14
Favorite: Annie Bot by Sierra Greer
Least Favorite: The Secret Explorers and the Smoking Volcano by S.J. King, 3 stars. Not a bad book, just least favorite.
It was right at the end of the month, but I started learning how to crochet and it's been a lot of fun. Other than that, not too much happened in June.

LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the highlight of the month for you in June?"The highlight of June for me was my vacation. We went to a place we've never been before. We enjoyed time at the beach and I got to meet an otter.

QOTD: Mid-year check-in: How's your reading going so far this year? If you have a goal, are you on track, ahead, or behind?
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mid-year check-in: How's your reading going so far this year? If you have a goal, are you on track, ahead, or behind?"As far as quality of reading goes, it's actually really good! I'm 8 books behind to hit 100 books by the end of the year, but I'm not going to worry too much about it.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mid-year check-in: How's your reading going so far this year? If you have a goal, are you on track, ahead, or behind?"my reading year has been pretty good so far! i'm past my goal because i set it at 10
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mid-year check-in: How's your reading going so far this year? If you have a goal, are you on track, ahead, or behind?"I have been in a reading slump this year. I decided to add some new genres to my reading palate. With that being said I'm still on track to achieve my goal of 40 books for the year.
I'm very behind on my reading goal. I've been in a slump lately, but I think I'm finally getting out of it. I have my reading goal set to 100 for the year and I've only read 27 books so far. I'm 25 books behind to be on track with my goal. I'm not worried about it. If I hit it great, and if not, then I'll try again next year. As far as the actual books I've read this year...it's been a decent reading year. It has ranged from DNF'ing a book to giving a book 5-stars and it becoming a favorite. I've been utilizing all reading formats and platforms from my kindle, to digital books audiobooks using my library card on libby and hoopla, to reading physical books I own and borrow. I've tried new authors, started series and other books I've been meaning to get around to reading for quite a while. So I would say overall, it's been pretty good. I'm glad to be over my reading slump so I can make more progress towards my reading goal though.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite summertime activity or hobby, aside from reading?"i love swimming even though i almost never have the opportunity to do it
I guess just the opportunity to be outside more, even though it’s so hot and I don’t go outside. I like having the option.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What social media app/site do you spend the most time on?"I'm on TikTok too much, but I don't really interact with anyone on there.
Edit: If we count YouTube as social media, then that is definitely my most used.
I go through phases with social media. Sometimes I'm on social media too much and other times I don't open any of the apps for a while. Typically, I juggle between Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Lately, the social media app I've spent the most time on is TikTok.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What social media app/site do you spend the most time on?"I'm definitely on tiktok too much, I need to cut back.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What social media app/site do you spend the most time on?"if youtube counts it's definitely youtube. i always have something playing in the background
Going out of town for an event, reading, going to coffee shops, and maybe go look around for some new fall and Halloween decor.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you have any fun, exciting plans this weekend? Cozy, bookish plans?"Read, work on some crochet projects, and watch tv. I don't feel like doing much this weekend.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you have any fun, exciting plans this weekend? Cozy, bookish plans?"I want to have a quiet, air conditioned weekend. Hopefully get some rest, maybe go for a short walk on a late evening when the heat breaks. That's about it.
My #1 goal for the week is to finish my 2 current reads. Bonus: I'd also like to work on my reading journal and reply to penpals.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mondays are for fresh starts! What is your #1 goal for the week?"i need to build a bed frame but that's about all i got going on
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mondays are for fresh starts! What is your #1 goal for the week?"I wanna crochet a few things and clean my apartment. That's about it.
I'm going to organize my children's papers and crafts into folders that represent each grade level they have completed thus far. I've been focusing on organizing and decluttering my house this year!
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Mondays are for fresh starts! What is your #1 goal for the week?"Make long overdue doctors appointment.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Tuesday Tunes – What song are you listening to on repeat this week?"Like a Stone by Audioslave
I'd like to mention that Pieces of Me by Ashlee Simpson is always on loop, but I'll let another artist have a chance.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Tuesday Tunes – What song are you listening to on repeat this week?"just the entire album of keep me fed by the warning lol
So far this year, I've realized that I really enjoy fantasy and romance the most. I've been reading more dark romances. I read from authors I hadn't tried before. I finally started the ACOTAR series and I'm obsessed. I wish I had started it sooner.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Have you discovered a new favorite genre, author, or book so far this year?"some of my reading earlier this year just cemented for me that i love gothic fiction
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Have you discovered a new favorite genre, author, or book so far this year?"I've found that from reading books around the world, I really enjoy a small village setting. I've read a few books this year with it and I ended up rating them 4-5 stars.
