The last book I read in one sitting was The Baker and the Bard: A Cozy Fantasy Adventure by Fern Haught.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you read in one sitting or within a 24-hour period?"i'm not 100% sure but i think i read maeve fly by c.j. leede in like 24hrs
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you annotated, jotted down quotes, or took notes on?"i'm annotating the book i'm reading right now (don't fear the reaper by stephen graham jones) because it's my second read-through
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you annotated, jotted down quotes, or took notes on?"If we're talking about books I've already read, Rifqa by Mohammed El-Kurd.
Books I'm currently reading, Babel by RF Kuang.
QOTD: What is a book you enjoyed or a book that's on your TBR that was published in the same decade you were born?
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is a book you enjoyed or a book that's on your TBR that was published in the same decade you were born?"monsters in the closet: homosexuality and the horror film by harry m. benshoff was published the very year i was born and i really enjoyed it
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you annotated, jotted down quotes, or took notes on?"The last book I finished reading that I annotated was Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. The book I'm currently reading and annotating is When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker. I tend to annotate most when I read fantasy books.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is a book you enjoyed or a book that's on your TBR that was published in the same decade you were born?"I'm a 90s kid!
For books that I enjoyed, I grew up with Harry Potter and I LOVED those!
For books that are still on my TBR, I still need to read the Song of Ice and Fire series. I watched the first season of Game of Thrones and I definitely want to read the books. I also would really like to read The Golden Compass.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is a book you enjoyed or a book that's on your TBR that was published in the same decade you were born?"- The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
- I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
The very early volumes of One Piece were published in the late 90s, and I've enjoyed those! As far as books on my TBR, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. It came out in the early 90s.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is a book you enjoyed or a book that's on your TBR that was published in the same decade you were born?"I read Ella Enchanted when I was younger and that was published the year I was born...so I guess I'll go with that lol
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite part of Spring?"that it starts getting darker later in the evening
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was your most recent five-star read? What did you love about it?"How Beautiful We Were by Imbolo Mbue.
I just thought the storytelling was incredible. The story itself is really tragic and it definitely hit me in the feels at the end. I will be reading this author's previous book, and I hope she writes more in the future.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was your most recent five-star read? What did you love about it?"i rounded leech by hiron ennes up to a 5. i loved the atmosphere. it reminded me a lot of the atmosphere built in wuthering heights which i wouldn't be surprised if that was intentional. i also just really like horror about bugs/parasites for some reason lol. and i've been super into gothic fiction lately
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was your most recent five-star read? What did you love about it?"The Women by Kristin Hannah
Strong women being heroes. And information about Vietnam that I missed back in the day.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was your most recent five-star read? What did you love about it?"My last 5-star read was Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. The writing was great, the different character's POVs was interesting but were also connected, the ending was brilliant, and it gave me similar vibes to The Bear and the Nightingale, which I also loved.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you DNF'd and why?"My last DNF was also my first DNF of the year. It was The Bookshop and the Barbarian by Morgan Stang. I loved the cover and the synopsis sounds like a cozy fantasy that is right up my alley. But the delivery of the story lost me. I couldn't get over the writing. I made myself finish the first chapter and just couldn't continue. I wanted to love it though.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you DNF'd and why?"The graphic novel, Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton. Just could not get into it. At all. Not even a little bit. Should also note that I am not much of a graphic novel fan to begin with.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you DNF'd and why?"it's been a long time since i actually DNFd a book instead of just putting it down for the moment. the last one was the houseguest and other stories by amparo davila. all of the stories felt extremely similar and it was starting to get boring unfortunately
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What was the last book you DNF'd and why?"In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune. I honestly just didn't like the story.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What movie or show do you enjoy watching during the spring season?"I enjoy a few during Spring (all year round to be honest but these are great for Spring). I enjoy watching The Hobbit, any Studio Ghibli film, Schitt's Creek, New Girl, and Pride and Prejudice (2005 adaptation).
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What movie or show do you enjoy watching during the spring season?"i just watch the same stuff all year 'round lol
I watch the same shows and movies year round. But if we talk sports I watch Softball and the season beings during the spring!
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What movie or show do you enjoy watching during the spring season?"Nothing special. I watch whatever, whenever.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's your favorite sweet tooth snack?"I always go for ice cream as a sweet snack. I'm not a huge candy person.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite reading spot?"I'll read wherever, so long as it's quiet. But before my swing in the backyard fell apart it was there.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite reading spot?"My couch, as lame as that sounds. It's probably where I read the most.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite reading spot?"i love reading outside when the weather is nice. other than that i probably get most my reading done in bed lol
I love to read in bed. But the spot I use most is the couch, just because I can't/shouldn't stay in bed all day.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite reading spot?"I read at my desk at home quite a lot. The desk chair is pretty comfy and my desk space is super cozy. It keeps me from falling asleep while reading. But, it's a toss up between my desk and the couch. When it's nice outside, I love to read outdoors though.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a debut author/book that you really enjoyed, and why?"One of my absolute favorite debuts that I read ended up being one of my favorite books of all time and got me into portal fantasy. The book is The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a debut author/book that you really enjoyed, and why?"I know it's a memoir, but Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner is one of my favorite books/memoirs. The push/pull relationship she had with her mother was quite interesting to read about. It's such a personal part of her life and I'm so happy she was comfortable enough to share it with the world. I'm sure it helped many who read it.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a debut author/book that you really enjoyed, and why?"The Martian by Andy Weir
I love survival stories. This one had me guessing through the entire book whether this guy was going to live or die. Every struggle he came to, I wondered and worried how he was going to work it out.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a debut author/book that you really enjoyed, and why?"chlorine by jade song was really good. i can't wait to see what she writes next.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a debut author/book that you really enjoyed, and why?"This I think is one I read in 2022, but The Flight Girls by Noelle Salazar, it was right in the heart of my ww2 historical fiction obsession and the story was just so moving and the characters felt so dear to me, I loved it.
