Question of the Day
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. I love the writing style of this author and how easily the book flowed. The author also kept me guessing to the very end. I would definitely recommend this book!

I'm not a huge fan of thrillers. I'd say No Exit by Taylor Adams is up there, along with He Started It by Samantha Downing. They're both pretty fast-paced thrillers. If I can't read a thriller in a day, then I don't want it.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's your favorite thriller? Why?"I admit, I'm very new to Thrillers, but I adored The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
..
I am fine with author blurbs. Someone wrote a book, and they want to advertise it. I say more power to 'em.
In general, blurbs are tricky. I like to have an idea what to expect from the book. But, people seem to be careless about putting spoilers in blurbs.
I don’t like book blurbs. There was a book that had so many blurbs but no book synapses on the back. I want to know what the book is about and see the cover.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your opinion about author blurbs on books?"I don't like them, especially if they take the place of the summary or synapses!

The Unsinkable Greta James by Jennifer E. Smith has been on my radar, so that's another possibility.
I'd like to finish the one i'm working on by Kim Michele Richardson, other than that, i've got a million books on my TBR! Hopefully I'll get to Where The Crawdad's Sing by Delia Owens. that's my #1 priority read.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Are there any April releases that you're excited for?"I think the new Kate Quinn book The Diamond Eye was released this month, super excited for that. And The Book Woman's Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson is due either this month or next!

I feel like that is going to be one of your favorites. Oh I wonder if there will be an audiobook version narrated by her...fingers crossed.

LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What book(s) do you think are perfect reads for Spring? Why?"I've probably said this a million times, but anne of green gables and little women have always felt like "Spring reads" to me. I'm not sure I could pinpoint why. The scenery of both books always put me in mind of Spring with names for places like "Orchard Slope" "Plumfield" "Green Gables" "White Way of Delight" (you HAVE to love little Anne's beautiful imagination! lol!)
..
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
The two books that immediately come to mind are News of the World by Paulette Jiles, and 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff.
QOTD: If you go to a coffee shop to read or just get coffee, what is your favorite drink to order? Do you have a favorite coffee shop?
I don't usually go sit at a coffee shop, but I do get coffee a lot from Starbucks. I usually get a grande iced caramel macchiato with extra caramel. I would like to visit more small business coffee shops, but I don't have the time.
QOTD: What music have you been listening to lately? Do you have a preferred music platform? Share some of your favorite songs.
My usual Beatles and Pearl Jam, plus recently a lot of Foo Fighters (RIP Taylor) and Elton John (in anticipation of the concert tmrw night). I listen on Sirius, Amazon music, Apple Music, and what I have loaded on my phone.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What music have you been listening to lately? Do you have a preferred music platform? Share some of your favorite songs."I've been listening to ALOT of old Matchbox Twenty and Rob Thomas, old Sugar Ray, Goldfinger, Nirvana. I'm a big 90's alt fan. I prefer amazon music.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: If you go to a coffee shop to read or just get coffee, what is your favorite drink to order? Do you have a favorite coffee shop?"If it's a drive thru chain coffee place, like Dunkin, I get a medium iced coffee with oatmilk. If it's a little sit down joint I love a London Fog latte.
QOTD: What have you been watching lately? Do you have a preference on movies or tv shows? Do you prefer physical media or a streaming service?
I haven't been watching much of anything. I usually watch YouTube. If I had to choose, I enjoy a good tv show. I don't have to sit for very long to watch an episode. I prefer a streaming service for movies/tv shows.
I have been watching Judge Judy/Judy Justice and reruns of The Big Bang Theory. I prefer tv shows and streaming service.
I'd say the most recent new must-read author would probably be Akwaeke Emezi, the author of The Death of Vivek Oji.
This hasn't happened in awhile. I'll typically just pick up one that's higher on my TBR list, or ones that seem quick and easy to read.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: If you could choose only one food to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?"Arby's Mozzarella sticks. and ONLY from Arby's!!
QOTD: If you could choose only one beverage to drink for the rest of your life what would it be (in addition to water)?

Bird Box by Josh Malerman This book freaked me out and kept me guessing. I kept telling the characters "No, don't do that. It is bad." And a second later, "Maybe, it's good. Yes, do that." I liked the characters and worried about them.
Also loved Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. For the same reasons.
