Hello! Iain and me want to read some books with Time Travel theme, for now we plan to read:

Timebound + the 2 sequels

One Word Kill

Maybe more, maybe not, but everyone is welcome :)

FBR might need to be renamed the Book Club Book Club, at this rate, lol... we come up with so many genre book clubs to branch off into :)

We might have to expand our scope a bit in the future, to cover timey-wimey-adjacent topics, like alternate dimensions or seers (people who can see the future)

Examples: The Invisible Library, Fated, A Soldier's Duty

Hopefully the books we already have planned go better than my recent attempts at time-travel reading... usually I start a series and time travel / alternate dimensions creep in, and I can't talk about it because spoilers...

Example: Ministry of Peculiar Occurence, technically Dresden Files soon, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

I was wondering what the hell is with these book clubs popping up in the group since I was away when all that was going around

I’m interested since I want to read more wobbly wobbley timey wimey stuff also I’m reading the time machine right now

Speaking of timey wimey there are a few doctor who books out there that are outside the tv series chronology not sure how many there are but I do own one or two of them

I’m not saying we should do it but it could be something else we could look at as well

It's the second book with Kindle Motion :) I like the animations but some are a little annoying, those which repeat a short sequence on and on and constantly flashing in the corner of you eye while you try to read what's on the adjusted page...

Soooo, here are my thoughts on Timebound:
It's a really quick read and I like the writing style, it's smooth and easy, nothing outstanding but so far enjoyable :) I also like the narrator, she also narrated The Queen's Poisoner and the following books, which I enjoyed a lot.

Chapter 5 (20%): (view spoiler)[ I really like the idea that the chronos-charm-thingy has a different colour for everyone who carries the needed gen.

I guess Kiernan is (one of?) our Love-interest... But woah, that happened a little quickly, I don't think that that would have been my response, if a stranger would have removed my hairband and just kissed me...
Also he's Connors grandfather? That's really strange and maybe a little creepy 😅 (hide spoiler)]

And Chapter 12 (41%): (view spoiler)[ Aaaaaand here we have our second Love-interest... Yay! 🙄 Not sure what to think of him, he seems to be really nice and I want to like him, but he somehow trusted her way too easily...

There's this scene after she met her father were Kate wonders if it's ok to change the Timeline because that would mean that the "current children" of her father would vanish, but that means that Trey would vanish as well as he seems to be her replacement somehow. Strange that none of them mentioned it...

I'm really curious what might happen at church and how her best friend is now after the timeline change.

Plus the Prologue makes sense now and I'm looking forward to learn more about the mass-murdering doctor of the past! (hide spoiler)]

I’m taking it slow for now but I agree I like the smooth writing and I think I like how the author decided to get the ball rolling rather than give us an introduction which is cool

Also the prologue did make me interested with a specific name who was actually a real person. Fortunately I knew him from watching the tv series Timeless which is also about time travel

You should look him up, the things he did was horrific but very unique

I read that you can disable KiM if it's getting in the way of reading... considering some of the example images I saw online for Harry Potter, I'm not sure how you CAN read a KiM book without disabling it at least temporarily... the images I saw showed Harry and someone else flying brooms across the middle of the page...

Katherine's plight is my worst nightmare in any time travel story - to be stranded so far from everything familiar.

Chapter 19 (view spoiler)[ Huh, I didn't expect to see Prudence there, but it does make a lot of sense. I like that things aren't looking good on the enemy's side and that Saul and Prudence doesn't seem to get along well.

I do like Trey more as well, but to be fair we haven't seen much of Kiernan yet. And young-Kiernan was really adorable!

Started... 25-30% in already... I'm loving the flow/narration of this, like you said... reminds me of the Pendragon Adventure, and the Grimm TV show... but the scope of the enemy is pretty daunting... I can't imagine how the good guys are going to succeed in thwarting them...

I can see why Ahdam compared the books to Timeless... I watched through to the first season's Fall Finale, or a little after, and can definitely see comparisons in the overarching plot...

I'm around 80-90% now, and the timeline is getting super confusing... (view spoiler)[between the old timelines from before Kate learned about the Chronos medallions... the timeline Kiernan remembers... the current timeline... the changes being made in 1893... and whatever is going to result in 2015... (hide spoiler)]

And this is only the first book... has me a bit worried... doesn't help that reviewers seem divided about the ending to the trilogy/series...

And the novellas seem pretty important... filling in details about the memories Kiernan has from the old timeline with Kate, and what happened to Prudence between the 1980s and the present day...

Too bad about the ending, but maybe we belong to the group that likes the ending 😅

I finished book 1 :) And I think it was really enjoyable, I agree that it was a little confusing at times with all the different timelines, but I don't really mind. The part I liked least is the whole romance part... But to be fair, I seldom do in YA-books... (view spoiler)[ the love triangle thing was really strange and I don't understand why so many authors write them in generall, I've never seen a review where someone said "Best part was the love triangle, love those"...

But well... I like that Kate at least went after Trey as promised. But I don't like her makeout scene with Kiernan, she might not be in a relationship with Trey in that timeline, but I thought she was sooo much in love with him? (hide spoiler)]

95%: Uh... WHAT?!?... (view spoiler)[I'm not sure that ending makes any sense... shouldn't there be a Kate that existed in the timeline for the month Kate jumped back to?... one staying at grandma's house OR one staying at home with her parents... something?

Confirmation that only a month has passed only solidifed my feelings that 1 month is a short time to be declaring undying love, considering all the other crazy things going on... (hide spoiler)]

The funny thing, is I wouldn't be complaining if (view spoiler)[there were 2 Kate's in the timeline for a month... even tho that's confusing as well, since old Kate can't exist in this timeline for a month with no Trey to interact with... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Those Connor and Kathrine are the same and when Kate jumps back for a month maybe there will be 2 Kate's in this timeline, one staying at her grandma's house and one living with her parents and going to school. This is very much a book that's easy to digest the less you try to dissect it... or understand the rules... a common problem with time travel...

Regarding timelines, my personal rule when reading time travel stories with a lot of them is to not work them out and just accept what I read. Anything else is an invitation to a headache.

Good rule... I love time travel, but it's hard to find good material... it's generally easier to turn my brain off with TV and Movies, than with books...

It's also easier when time travel is a vehicle for telling stories (ala Doctor Who) than the main focus of the plot...

Not sure about a timetable, I would like to start book 2 shortly after Time's Echo, to still have book 1 fresh in mind, if that works for everyone?

I'm nearly halfway through Time's Echo (#1.5) and I'm a little confused by the timelines...

Chapter 3 (view spoiler)[ So Kiernan remembers meeting New-Kate as a kid at the fair, while he still lives with Old-Kate right now, even though the Kate he met is younger than the actual Kate, which means that going to the fair must have already happend for her, but in his timeline it didn't, because Kate 2 didn't exist yet... That's really confusing! (hide spoiler)]

I haven't started yet, but from what I understand, (view spoiler)[having a Chronos means being stuck with 2 or more conflicting timelines in your head... it's what causes the pain when big changes happen to the timeline...

Something happened in book 1, at one of those headache sections in chapter 1 or the prologue, that gave grandma cancer, so she started Kate's training later, so she didn't meet Kiernan when they were a bit older, and instead she met him as a child after the kiss on the subway... (hide spoiler)]

From what I understand, the timeline only gets more confusing as the trilogy progresses...

I'll try and read the ebook later today... reading Fearless now...
